This is your city, you may go where go,

There is no divide, don’t sit, move with flow.

Find your own kind, your worth is innate,

A lust for adventure, has a mind not to wait.

Find your hopes, your dreams, in side streets and aves,

Life is never what it seems, it’s about diverse paths.

Meander down the walkways, from stores to the slums,

Some have wealth and talk the talk, some are treated mute and dumb.

Be not afraid to love everyone,

Not as your sweetheart loved, but as a person, a human.

The city is grand full of sweet times to be had,

As you move through the days understand, be glad,

You are granted time, to do what you love,

To explore, with a sense of chance, to care for the unloved.

Be kind and contrive, a life full of memories,

Experiences survived, wherever you are led,

Go with purpose and never forget you serve

Are blessed to be, and help others persevere.

I have a great deal of trouble staying straight up grounded,

If you got to know me, you’d see at times I feel confounding.

I don’t understand it myself,

But imagination is wealth.

So I know it’s okay to fly,

Up into the grayish sky.

Because I know how to make black and white turn colorful,

I can make a life of gray tones light so wonderfully.

——

It’s not that I’m anything unusual, different,

Then anybody else or even those who write proficiently.

But anyone who inks the page,

Knows what writers create engaged,

It’s exciting, magical,

Uplifting, and illogical.

The writer illustrates, cuts, folds, does the restitching —

Of stories; ripping out seams until what is left enriches.

——

It’s not easy to comprehend the scribbles and —

You find delicious cake baked, chocolate rich and grand,

Icing so sweet, flavor melding,

A creation vivid felt.

Picture perfect, read with pride,

And more delightfulness resides,

Hidden inside these golden words so captivating,

Intoxicating, ethereal, rising enraptured.

——-

Perhaps it’s not clear, why I let a balloon carry me floating,

It’s just, I’m seduced by language, writing, hopeful words wrote.

So protecting myself from —

Life’s elements thrumming,

Inside me, around me — I’m safe,

Despite trolls, odd notes of hatred.

I keep honing my craft, in my prettiest flats,

My comfortable wool coat; the writing it lifts me enwrapped.

——-

I let the fates lead me where the wind blows me, knowing,

I could be entrenched in editing woes, left moaning.

But I keep going with my muse,

Taking all of her abuses.

‘Cause they teach me burying —

My secrets, is so worrying.

My inspirations keep the balloon drifting, rising,

I have a great deal of trouble, but my writing makes me smile, surviving.

Poem: Free Verse – “Prayer for the Small Things” #amwriting #poetry #prayer

Credit: Saatchi Art – Thank God For Women Legs by Thomas Saliot

——–

Oh Lord, thank God for the small things,

The words and acts of kindness,

Which help me through the day.

Thank God for the small things,

Each day I’m fed,

I’ve many clothes to wear.

Thank you that I too can be generous

That you gave me a Mother who taught —

Her daughter to be thoughtful,

So I wouldn’t think only of myself.

And even when I’m hurt and crying

I can see a silver lining in that cloud.

*****

Lord, thank you for the small things,

A life I’m given to live

No matter how battered or bruised

You’re my armour and you never leave.

Your champions wage

Though the whirlpool may swallow;

You bring us through to the other side.

New blessings each day,

More than we need or want, or deserve

Thank you for the small things.

For earnings, for caring friends,

For a heart that doesn’t break when it’s bent

Thank you for love; however, small it was,

For those who hurt me,

So I knew then, what forgiveness was.

*****

Lord, oh for the small things,

That kindness could be formed in me,

To kill the badness, the jealousy

Thank you for keeping him safe,

For him not being my guy,

Though I pray for him still,

You keep him secure, alive —

I pray you give him faith

And draw us both close to you.

*****

Thank you my almost love,

Is not in the big picture.

I hope he sees his wealth,

His privilege comes,

Not only with acts of goodness

But faith in God, in Jesus —

From his heart

If I see him again —

Help me to not turn away but to repair

So much is your power,

You could change a man’s mind.

Help him see he is lost in the law,

He needs your grace to believe

*****

Thank you Lord, for the small things,

My family, my friends, those I detest.

My lost pets, my forgotten foes.

Every man I felt something special for,

For the ones who hurt me deep and cut in;

I didn’t bleed out and die inside.

I moved on, survived

I’m doing okay.

*****

Thank you I was born in this day and age

Not one-hundred something years ago or more.

For medical advances, social programs,

And people more understanding,

At least I hope

Thank you that one day, I’ll see you face to face,
Thank you Lord, for the small things,

For to me they’re very big.

My prayer I give and keep in my heart

For your omniscient presence,

For your healing,

Oh Lord, I ask and give thanks.

The Complexities of Red #thoughts #amwriting #nonfiction

Credit: Giovanni Licea – YouTube

I considered the colour red. How I’m equally attracted and repelled by it. How I pass by a red v-neck sweater in the right shade, but mix my acrylic colours, blend them until my instincts say stop; stop sign red. No wait . . . a bright cool startling red appears on my canvas. I think this is passion and passion is the boldest red. I think of how I not only crave to paint in vivid red, but in many vivid colours and textures. How I trace the feeling of layered paints with my fingers, and hunger for other colours with my eyes – blue, green, and purple. Though I adore all these colours, my favourite paintings are all in red.
As with my love for sexy heels, which I adore in red too. If red is passion, what more can I say about women and sensuality then red shoes. They’re expression and fierceness. Like Kelly Picklers song “Red High Heels” — “I’m about to show you just how missing me feels, in my red high heels . . .” Red for revenge, red for moving on, red for love. But I hate red for love, it’s memory is sickening. He looked good in that colour – almost the best.

Yet red is so many things more. It’s anger, hate, rage, hurt, demons dreaming — the beast inside who does not die. Red is sinful, delicious, and deadly. It’s sex and power; a primilness. It’s royalty and blood, red blood spilled for in the body it’s blue (hence bluebloods). I love how classic red is — nothing more classic then a cat eye and red Bridget Bardot lips. Nothing as classic as red Mustang.

I don’t wear red, the colour outshines me and doesn’t fit with such pale skin and blond hair. Please no red dress – I’d rather blend in and be a classic black or navy dress cut perfectly. But I seek out bits of red and cling to them, not wanting red to blind me. Only some sparkle and razzle dazzle to hold in my hand. Red nail polish is beautiful, with a bit of bling  Red as some of the lights in Las Vegas and red fireworks; red stoplights.

Red is perplexing because it’s complex, not simple at all. Red is nationalism and red is internationalism. It’s a proud Canadian colour and I don’t mind wearing it on our Nation’s Birthday. Or cheering on our Canadian hockey teams in the Olympics and junior hockey.

As well, roses are so divine, so deadly pricking your finger. Red, passion and pain. Together swirled these colours of red, of love, and hate collide. There are many shades of grey, but even more shades of red. It’s more than a primary colour it calls as a siren, “Look see me.” No one hides in red. Red cars are often caught barely speeding and Red is a theme of many songs albums as in “Red” as T. swifts song and album and the Beatles album “Redone.” Red as “My love is like a red red rose.” Some choral song I cannot recall.

But I’m sitting here, music blaring trying to decide what to paint. I’ve that special shade of red and it’s mixing and melding with other colours. Shades and tones. I see, red on my canvas and it bleeds. Red blood, blood . . .life, the most prolific association. Red is blood. Blood is life. Red such as poppies, that we must always remember. Red for anger, red for hate, for war. Red to hurt, poor the droplets down a crystal glass. Red red wine. To drink away the blood and crippling thoughts. Red to forget. I like a Malbec with bite. A Zinfandel to make me chatty. A Merlot or Cav-Sav with some friends. Red sangria is delicious. Red strawberry margaritas because there’s real fire in tequila. Red is too many things, too symbolic, too self-contradictory. Red is life.

Three Days of Three Quotes (Nine Quotes) In One #quotes #amwriting #Emma #JaneAusten

Thanks to Paul of Palfitness for nominating for me for three-days of three quotes. I’m going to do all nine quotes at once. My theme is Jane Austen’s Emma. All quotes are from Good Reads as well as book cover images.

Emma is one of my favourite classic novels. Emma is intent on arranging marriages  for all her friends, but doesn’t want to ever marry anyone herself. However, her plans for fixing others up often go awry in hilarious ways.

Emma also finds out she loves Mr. knightly, her dear friend, when she thinks she’s going to lose him to a woman named Jane. The movie Emma with Gwynth Paltrow as Emma is one of my favourite movies as well.

——–

1. ” A woman is not to marry a man merely because she is asked, or because he is attached to her, and can write a tolerable letter.” – Haha great advice. In other words, don’t lead a guy on!

2. “Seldom, very seldom, does complete truth belong to any human disclosure; seldom can it happen that something is not a little disguised or a little mistaken.” – Very thoughtful comment I think. We can never tell, exactly what the truth is unless we were present when an event occurred. Often we paraphrase and leave details out when we talk about events second-hand.

3. ” Better be without sense than misapply it as you do.” – Makes me laugh. Be logical, have sense, but don’t abuse your skills. There’s more to this life than ‘black’ and ‘white.’

——–

http://www.goodreads.com

——

4. “Men of sense, whatever you may choose to say, do not want silly wives.” – Don’t fake who your are, pretend you’re what you aren’t. I think the right man, will love you for who you truly are.

5. “Were I to fall in love, indeed, it would be a different thing; but I have never been in love ; it is not my way, or my nature; and I do not think I ever shall.” – This quote holds such irony; Emma does not think she will ever get married while she arranges other marriages. The situation change when she learns Mr. knightly might be marrying another woman.

6. “I cannot make speeches, Emma…If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more. But you know what I am. You hear nothing but truth from me. I have blamed you, and lectured you, and you have borne it as no other woman in England would have borne it.” –Mr. Knightly and his way of telling Emma he loves her. They’ve been good friends, often offering each other advice, but never more. If Emma can put up with his lectures, Mr. Knightly knows he’s found his right woman for marriage.

——

7. “Why not seize the pleasure at once? — How often is happiness destroyed by preparation, foolish preparation.” – A great point Carpe diem; cease the day!

8. “If a woman doubts as to whether she should accept a man or not, she certainly ought to refuse him. If she can hesitate as to `Yes,’ she ought to say `No’ directly. It is not a state to be safely entered into with doubtful feelings, with half a heart.”  – One should be sure about who they’re going to marry. Maybes and second thoughts aren’t a good thing to be experiencing if you are wanting a lasting and content marriage.

9. ” A single woman, of good fortune, is always respectable, and may be as sensible and pleasant as any body else.” – A woman with her own money, taking care of herself, is equal to her married peers.

Poem: A L’Arora -“Wise King Solomon”

King Solomon
http://www.Ids.org

Knowledge King Solomon asked,

To rule with wisdom His Lord gave,

Over people “numerous as —

The dust of the earth;” to rule with —

God’s grace provided and for,

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Granted wealth, possessions, honor.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.

Solomon, blessed as no king here passed.

From King David’s line; His God saves.

Gifting Solomon with treasures as,

Chariot, precious metals with,

Best horses, chariot bred for.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Granted fame even, today for —

Praying for such knowledge,wisdom.

Building temple, His Lord, him tasked,

Timber from everywhere, many gave.

Silver and gold; gone as time has —

Drifted through the ages, left with —

Second Chronicles telling for —

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Asking right gifts, rewarded more.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.

Time passes; treasure hunters classed,

Finding Solomon`s treasure, braved.

But I believe they forget as —

Those who seek only wealth; lose with —

Elusive gems; not asking God more.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Ask as Solomon too asked God for,

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.
