Resplendent woman in her ivory gown,

Treading downstairs in sleep, not knowing,

Dreams guide her graceful body through,

A darkened house, unaware —

Their mama walks in sleep,

Following her story,

Playing out in,

Dream –

Scapes.

She’s,

But a —

Waif as she,

Opens the front,

Door, padding barefoot,

Unto the beach, squishing,

Sand between her toes, walking,

To the ocean’s shore, where waves pull,

Lantern in hand, believes she’ll become,

A mermaid, as she wades in waters deep.

Waves brush her thighs, makes her gown sodden, wet.

She doesn’t realize anything is wrong but —

She keeps wading into the ocean,

Despite, the cold and water,

Trying to suck her down,

She keeps walking,

Knowing that,

Reward,

Waits.

Waist,

Deep she,

Kicks off from,

Sandy bottom,

She floats, her lantern —

Lights the way, as water comes,

Up to her waist and past her —

Chest as she swims, dreaming she has,

Her mermaid’s tale, joins her sisters in —

Ocean, she greets them, soaring in the waves.

From the house, a small girl watches, mama sink.

Tears roll down, soft cheeks; mom doesn’t return.

“Stay away from the ocean girl,” her —

Grandma always warned them.

Mama needed freedom,

Didn’t actually die.

Daughter knows she,

Swims in deep,

Peaceful

Now.

Girl,

Is sad,

But knows her –

Most loved mama,

Goes to happier place,

To ocean’s froth, she’s free.

Gran cooks pancakes, strawberry —

Sauce and whipped cream; mama’s favorite,

Girl watches with delight how mermaids play,

Sees Mom flip jade tail, waving to her girl.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – ” Opportunity or Risk? “

——

So difficult to accomplish,

No safety net, for a small wish,

Do or die; have to think about,

Worst case scenarios on my route,

Opportunity knocks, dare I open the door?

No where else to turn, if I end up on the floor.

—-

Not the same for you, you’ve a net,

When you draw, you still have safe bets,

A job to turn to, and husband,

On me if I break; in abandon.

How can you understand my unique situation,

Can’t depend on health, keeping me situated.

—-

I’m feeling great doubt, I’m unsure.

I’ve only begun, can’t leap assured.

I have to see the ‘ins’ and ‘outs,’

Before I can tell you what I’m about.

Darkness lingers in my mind, pressure I cannot define.

You don’t know what it’s like in my shoes, undecided.

—-

A gigantic opportunity,

To pass up, is it lunacy?

Calculated risks are fine,

Tell me where to draw finite line.

If I can’t do this career, and I’m not that into sales.

You see differently, maybe I can help people sail.

—-

Find a better life, find their health,

To begin, I have little wealth.

I haven’t been planing to divert,

My path in this local –invert,

Thoughts moving, teetering in changed direction.

Choices not made easily, self-reflection.

—-

Don’t believe I have enough wage,

Writing, my dream of life changing.

Can’t make living off of dreaming,

But changing wheels, believing.

New thoughts, career movements could alter future path.

No security if I go off, what happens in depressions wrath?

—-

Bubbling thoughts in my mind,

Jets in whirlpool, the sucking kind,

How do I be cheerful often,

How to make my shell, crack, soften,

I’m scared I can’t do it; keep seeing my fail safe.

So difficult choosing, God guide your small waif.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – ” Waif, Woman, Girl.”

Thank you to The Daily Prompt for the word prompt screen.

—–

Absence invites you, listen,

Not wanting to see my tears glisten.

Blocking me, am I an illusion?

Between us is too much confusion.

Hating, to turn the tables on you — I’m fail safe.

Modern woman seeking solace, only a small waif.

——

Drifting girl who caught your fancy,

Thinking me a necromancer,

No, I’m no wicked witch casting,

I’m no immortal everlasting.

Concluding, I’m your shadow now, don’t think that way.

Modern woman here, depending on her own say.

—–

You dream I’m glued to your side,

Wishing you’d let me off this ride.

Commitment, did I say that?

No, I said I’ll be like you — fat —

Off hurting, confusing, many precious women — pearls.

Who believed Prince Charming didn’t hurt, he did –whirls.

—–

You’ll excuse me, I screen all profiles.

Odds are, you’ll desert, admist trial.

Looking for longterm love, my dear?

Became like some guys, single by fear.

Booting you out of bed, never to be seen again.

You’ve been screened, now kindly disappear — let me reign.

——

Here I am Queen; I learned from the best,

Play all your cards, close to your chest.

Modern woman, can she actually believe?

Her dreams, her fears, her tears, might weave.

Leaning on a partner, her prince, only a man?

Absence invites, waif schemes wiser, dreaming, plans.
