Aurora-borealis paints the sky

Hues of light to charm

Charm the cold from old man winter’s grasp

Charm the sky hovering, colours delightful still

Still as the snow when it stops

Still as the young man in the living room

Room in a home where he’s troubled

Room of the television — loud sports

Sports of the freezing weather

Sports loved best

Best loved is hockey

Best loved he watches, engrained

Engrained in the screen

Engrained in the game

Game on and he misses his wife as she drives away

Game of his wife searching for time

Time ended when she him left

Time is new for her; he doesn’t care now

Now she moves on

Now she is but thrilled

Thrilled, yet in a storm she drives

Thrilled to have escaped without another fight

Fights always happen

Fights which got worse, never stopped

Stopped when she rethought her life

Stopped when she said, “I’m gone”

Gone while the new sliver of a TV loudly plays

Gone, he knows it it, feels depressed

Depressed at the mess of his life

Depressed, slight lines etched into his face

Face with red eyes

Face with mouth stifling sobs

Sobs because she’s gone for good

Sobs because she gazed at him appalled

Appalled because he always yelled

Appalled because he’s why ‘they’re finished

Finished forever, she’s free

Finished, but she’s not safe in such a blizzarding storm

Storm outside flinging snow in his face

Storm outside, her car didn’t make it far

Far off and tired the look in her eyes

Far off but tears streaming ’cause she’s stuck

Stuck in the bank of snow

Stuck in her life, no escape

Escape life here, without him?

Escape yet, she’s glad, for her, he came

Came, so she takes him back; he understands now

Came, so they return to times where they showed

Showed love, affection where no distance divides

Now acts of love, little things, change the future

Interview With Katrina Sarah Cain

Welcome back to my bi-weekly interview series. Today I am interviewing the talented poet, wonderful person, and beautiful lady, Katrina Sarah Cain. Please check-out her blog The Darkest Fairytale herewww.thedarkestfairytale.wordpress.com

Katrina Interview Picture
Katrina Cain

1. Please Tell Us About Yourself Katrina?
Well what can I say about myself? My name is Katrina and I live in England. I’m twenty-four-years old. I work in data analysis and I’m secretly, a massive geek. I have a interest in psychology, philosophy, and any science really. I’m also an identical twin. My hobbies include Pokemon-Go, gaming, keeping fit, and I’m a general adventure seeker. If I had to describe myself I would say I’m fun, sarcastic, a realist, and wise with old fashioned morals.

2. When Did You Begin Writing and Blogging? What Does It Mean to You? Why Do You Write?
I began blogging in January 2016. I started my blog without any intention of anything special coming out, but then I began writing poetry and it turned my blogging into writing-therapy for myself. I do apologize to my readers for some of my random pieces.
My sister initially, told me blogging and writing was great therapy for a person. I thought, ‘Why not? We all need some therapy?’ I had never written much before, hence, my terrible grammar, but once I started writing I realized I had a talent for it and I began to enjoy it.
Poetry to me isn’t just words, it’s an expression of what we’re unable to say out loud and it helps us relate to others. When I started writing it wasn’t only about rhyming or poetry, it was about reaching out to others, people with similar experiences to me and still go through these experiences. If one person can find inspiration or peace in what I write, then it means everything to me.

“I started writing because my sister told me it was great therapy for a person. I thought, ‘Why not? We all need some therapy?’ . . .When I began writing it wasn’t only about rhyming or poetry, it was reaching out to others . . .If one person can find inspiration or peace in what I write, then it means everything to me.” – Katrina Sarah Cain

3. Where Do You Find Your Inspiration and Motivation to Write?

I cannot say anyone in particular, inspires me. I aim to write most days, but I often get  frequent writer’s block. I think most of you can relate. I’ll be sitting at home thinking  of what to write and nothing appears. Then, I’ll be preparing tea and my mind turns into a rhyming magician and I rush to write down what I’m thinking. My poetry is either written at the most random of moments or when I am feeling low or written when I have something specific on my mind to write about.

4. Do You Find There Is A Time Of Day You Most Like to Write? What Are Your Most Current Poetry Projects? Are You Planning On Publishing Any Of Your Work?

The time of day I end up writing is probably, in the evening or at night when my mind decides it’s nocturnal and comes alive. I don’t have any current projects, only what I put my blog; poetry published when the the words appear for me to write. No, I’m not planning on publishing my work. At the moment, I blog and that’s all.

” . . .[M]y mind turns into a rhyming magician and I write down what I’m thinking. My poetry is either written the most random of moments or when I am feeling low or written when I have something specific on my mind to write about.” – Katrina Sarah Cain

5. Do You Have A Writing Process? Do You Prefer Certain Areas of Writing or Reading Genres?

My writing process is unorganized and unpredictable. I say no, I don’t have any preferred writing or reading genres but then I look back on my blog and I see some pieces are rather dark. I think when I write poetry, I stick to my perspective of life and the reality of life which many people tend to miss; the things we long for but don’t actually express verbally or otherwise.

6. Do You Have Any Helpful Advice For Other Writers or Bloggers?
Yes, it’s your blog and it’s your words. Not everyone will understand how you mind works, but as longs as you enjoy writing keep at it. No one should judge you for your self-expression, but yourself. There’s always magic in artistic expression, chose to express yourself how you want to in your writing (on your blog) and in life.

” . . .I stick to my perspective of life and the reality of life which many people tend to miss of what happens in everyday life; the things we long for but don’t actually express verbally or otherwise.” – Katrina Sarah Cain

7. Can You Please Share With Us A Few Links From You Blog, Some Of Your Favorite Or Most Loved Pieces?

Would you
Kiss
My lips,
If they’re
Bleeding
Pain?
Would you
Wipe away
Acid,
If my tears
Leaked with
Shame?
Would you
Hold me
Close,
If my heart
Fired
Ice?
Would you
Carry me
Home,
If I’d fled
From this
Life?
Would you
Chase me
Into a
Storm,
To battle my
Thunder?
Would you
Protect me
With your
Arms,
To give me
Shelter
To hide
Under?
Would you
love me
If this
Was reality
Could anyone
Ever
Love me,
Unconditionally.

Photo Challenge: Poem – Mirrored Sestet – “Fear of Moon” #amwriting #poetry

Thanks to MindLovesMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this tarot prompt of the moon.

——–

World is dim, unconsciousness formed swirls.

Swirls call my mind to odd distant other worlds.

Journey, searching, will I find a place worth,

Worth finding strange people, repeat journey

Cannot do what I need to do, what’s taught

Taught in school, remembered, forget I cannot

——

Always search, but I never find hallways

Hallways leading home, place needed always

Excitement high feeds my  inticements

Inticement lingers, through mass excitement

Words coming from my mouth, words but unheard.

Unheard words, no one understands my words.

——

Dreamscapes, such funny places explored seem

Seem alive but hiding painful dreamscapes

No escape, when you wish to climb, landscapes.

Landscapes change in dreams I find, no escape.

Colourful world, weird place some twisted other —

Other world catches, enfolds, colourful world.

——-

Where am I, that I chase and can’t find there

There? Places which are morphed, a trap, go where?

Placed objects in my hands, details I traced

Traced how they felt before I left replaced

Shimmering full moon glimmering.

Glimmering dark moon shimmering.

——

In dreams the moon it haunts, whispers of sin,

Sins past, present, future not letting in —

Hoping of waking up, tired of fake words spoke.

Spoke from mouths which would never stop hoping.

Here they do, the moon crushing hope with fear.

Fear it rules night, moon glows; yet morn now here

Poem: Cleave Poem – “Honesty and Lies” #amwriting #poetry

honesty
http://www.terileigh.com

  1. Read the words in ‘regular’ font.
  2. Read the words in bold font only.
  3. Read the poem as you would a normal poem.

Such honest words / words brimming with vitriol,

I give to you, my heart and soul/ pricked by a venomous demonic snake,

I leave you, all my virtue true/ virtue could cure the poison invading;

But you don’t believe in honesty/ to be rid of such hatred, such turmoil, such rage;

You’ve a game you call ‘secrets and lies’/pain incinerates, but you play on.

No one understands your game/ betting against yourself always, you incriminate.

You’ve set the rules/ I cannot win; I’m the pawn, I’m the fool.

You always score, each game, each set / you judge me; achieving a win, you’re guaranteed not to lose.

You don’t understand your character flaw / why shouldn’t I try to fight steadfast for your love?

You’ve hubris; I’m afraid of your poetic downfall / the Bard wrote of love, can’t you read those poems?

Words reaching out as if they were / syllables of glass, shattered and splintered;

Creeping vines, ensnaring you / as if they were words, lavish with ardor, enchanting.

Trapping you until you cannot move / safekeeping your person; holding you dear.

Putting you in a sleeping spell, brier rose / I brush back your hair, as the drugged lethargy falls.

With benevolent sorcery, you’re reclaimed / you remain mine; unharmed and kept safe.

Asleep but a moment; complicated lies as clouds drift away / I, wondering why you chose deceit?

I offered you truth, the elder twin first / honesty is all I want to hear,

You chose deception, the younger sibling / I offer us both new life;

Your wicked lies entrap us both / hoping the only lies I hear from you again are white.

I can never concede to a life of falsehood/ there is compromise in honesty to be found.

My vines hold you tight / I’m guiding you, untangling you, from your web of lies.

Until honesty is the only breathe in your lungs/ until we both, only breath the truth of you and I.
