Lords – “Liability”

——–

You’re a little much for me, see

See you’re a liability

Liabilities are costly

Liability, that’s you baby

Baby hurt me so much

Baby left me crying

Crying in the taxi

Crying until I reached home

Home, it’s what I though we had

Home, what’s one broken?

Broken I’m shattered

Broken, he doesn’t need to know

Knowing me, mistake were made

Knowing little, he couldn’t handle trying

Trying to dance in my storm

Trying not to be poisoned

Poison, he said that’s what I was

Poison, that’s what he is

He is poison destructive to me

He is the maker of harsh demands

Demands — I only meet my own now

Demands are so tiring

Tiring, he’s too hard to please

Tiring, he says I’m diseased

Diseased, he’s the one, making ‘us’ decay

Diseased, the man I knew gone

Gone amd there’s no more dancing

Gone, no more love in the dark

Darkness, I’m alone swaying

Dark and alone, dancing alone

Alone too much for him

Alone I’m still dangerous

Dangerous truth: he treats me as a toy

Dangerous and too boring

Boring after doing exciting tricks

Boring after our perfect summer

Summer in my heart hurts

Summer’s turned cold

Cold eating me alive,

Cold cause, you’re all gone

Gone so I’m on my own

Gone, I accept I’m a liability

Liabilities must be forgotten

Liabilities must be shed

Shed so as not to him expose.

Forgotten so I’m never loved.

Enchanting child in slumber keep,

Red hair surrounds you as you sleep.

I wait for you to wake from your dreams,

No longer a porcelain doll preened.

*****

A wedding gown white lace so frothy,

Mother hoped your match was lofty.

That you’d found your life partner,

Your prince, your man, for life to start.

*****

But day by day you grew sad,

When pressed with his kisses ran.

Empty feeling inside you grew,

Like a butterfly away flew.

*****

Mischievous child, pain grew,

His fist at your face straight-on flew.

Hiding the bruises with powder,

Not even concealer shrouds

*****

Pride vital to you, tiny doll,
Escaped; no one to catch your fall.
Fly in dreams with delicate wings,

Winter ends, it’s soon your spring.

*****

Gather your courage –call it off;

Don’t marry him, don’t be soft.

In front of the crowd, show each cut,

Let them see bruises, you must.

*****

So they know an abuser,

Isn’t good enough, he’s a loser.

He broke your velvet wings,

Your sanity held by strings.

*****

But it was too late even then,

The lake too close; so your end.

Now you float, butterfly who swims,

Eternity of light your win.

*****

We tried to save a doll of glass,

But on death she shattered, passed.

Down below the water’s dark depth,

She’s tranquil, free; although, she leapt.

*****

Mind too distorted, destroyed,

Lover’s hands threw her like a toy.

World tough; his madness changed them both,

In Heaven she smiles free to float.

*****

He mourns her death each day, each drink,

Pretty soon his rage him too sinks.

Accidents happen to the unaware,

She pulled him in, drowned his despair.

Answer my tears all the fears my eyes show clear

They’re crystals melting glass, no thought shown.

Ice drops of dew, hands cupped close to mold —

Truth of the matter — hearts must mend own fears.

—–

Cracks, rips, tears all sewn shut; your favorite dear —

Toy held close, repaired; fine cracks don’t hold,

They grow deeper; fractured, you’re unfolded,

Not yourself, too many holes to conceal.

—–

Something from nothing; super glue won’t seal,

Remains of a woman, broken, chipped, fools gold.

Dusty forgotten, hands wrinkle, behold —

Beauty untold; someone precious revealed .

—–

Leave me not alone in this life, let me —

Care, be cared for, let love in me be seen.

1. I adore the colour oceanic blue, it’s almost turquoise with a hint of green in it; our sale boat has stripes of oceanic blue across it’s sails and I look up at them with appreciation as the sails flutter and dance in the strong winds of the ocean; In awe I stare at the finely muscled man guiding the sail boat and letting it go as he greets me with a hedonistic kiss, and I stare into his oceanic blue eyes as he loves me in our cabin below deck.

2. My name is Charlie and I am five-years-old; I don’t know my Dad but my Mom says he liked to sail and that this summer she is going to take me sailing like my Dad and her used to do; I can’t wait, every night I play with the toy ship my Dad gave me (although Mom says it’s not a toy but something to remember Dad by) and I pretend I am sailing the ocean with my Mom and my Dad; we sail everywhere, the three of us together.

3. His face had deep-set wrinkles as if they had been creased on his withered skin forever; he smoked a pipe and I recall the whirls of smoke curling up into the air as he sat inside the coffee shop/bate shop and considered his fishing boat; his name was Willy and Willy and his crew went out everyday in his fishing boat to where the most gigantic Tuna swam; they were huge fish, and some brought in near ten thousand dollars; the story goes, one day Willy set out to catch the biggest Tuna he had ever seen and instead of catching the Tuna on his fishing rod, the line snapped and Willy tumbled into the ocean and was swallowed by the enormous Tuna; Willy’s never been seen again.
