Faerie woods,

On hollowed grounds.

Creatures magique,

Folklore inspired:

Ethereal beauty,

Regards timeless forest,

From cliff’s precipice.

Wild mahogany hair,

Tangles around,

Curved horns.

Pale eyes —

Tinged misty-green.

Searching, discovering —

Ancient secrets.

Dress clinging close,

As rain pours.

She’s silent, unmoving,

Lips pursed, before upturning,

Rain quenches,

Her thirst,

For something,

A dream,

Unrealized

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer: My Wildest Dreams

I spotted an exquisite Brick house, overgrown with leaves in brilliant red as I walked my dachshund Luna. The house had a turquoise wooden door and it beckoned me inside. No one answered when I called out, so I kept exploring.

I spied a small sitting area with two mugs of tea cooling on the coffee table. A tired man appeared smiling and said, “I’ve been waiting for you, Kayla. My house has chosen you as its new owner.”

“How do you know my name?” I asked the man alarmed.

“The house told me who you were and that you would visit today. It has ancient magic and has existed in some form for thousands of years. A sourcerer created it. Remember, until the house chooses another owner, you’re its keeper. You and Luna are also gifted long life.”

Before my eyes, the man disintegrated with a sigh.

I wandered my new home finding all my possessions. The house had also taken on the appearance and decor of my ideal home.

In the back was a deck with a white sand beach and a rolling ocean shore. Luna escaped my grasp and ran out to the water. The house had fulfilled my wildest dreams.

Poem: Quatrains – “Fight and Fly”

Thanks to The Daily Post for the word prompt fight.

Troubled pearl, thoughts awhirl,

Spinning fast, life makes you hurl,

Never stops, never just right.

Make your own moments, win that fight.

—–

Sifting sands go through my hands.

Spheres off beaches, white grande.

Dreams of blue water, clear and dense,

Without sharks, that makes sense.

—-

Sharks of land so much sicker,

Make a woman fear as life flickers,

Red red roses, blood dripping down,

Trickling lifelessness without a sound,

—-

Daggers thrust in open hearts,

No one goes far, not able to start.

Words of fear and words said in haste,

Looks like living, isn’t chaste.

—–

Tricked clever, by events out of control,

Lessons learned from life’s list of roles.

Talking quietly, whispering secrets;

Who needs those words — awful secrets.

—-

Blazing eyes go forth and vent,

Tell me the way to happiness, invent —

New ways to find strength, and flight

Don’t you know the best way, fight.

—-

Hidden hands, bowed in prayer,

Why is life so utterly tinged, `beware,`

Go the way angels do, dive in blue skys,

Flutter with purpose, learn to fly.
