Ivory lace and pearl ribbon, pretty shoes I love,

Flower of delicate lace on folded silk peep toes;

Jewels, silken straps, elegant wedge most beloved.

Black lace, four-inch gold heels, length of legs to behold

Fluffiest white bed, a blue corsette, soles bright pink,

Flower of delicate lace on folded silk peep toes.

Burgundy patent red heels with red wine, wink!

Malbec sliding down your throat, cheese, bread, chocolate!

Fluffiest bed in blue corsette, soles bright pink.

Glorious silver sparkling shimmer mocking

Until I wear them graceful on stilts, platforms slim.

Malbec sliding down my throat cheese, bread, chocolate.

Tall black boots, supple leather hugs my calves –winners!!

Knee-high boots prized, heels sturdy yet in winter slip,

Until I wear them, graceful on stilts, platforms slim.

Divine pieces of art, solve vexing mishaps,

Ivory lace and pearl ribbon pretty shoes I love.

Knee high boots prized, heels sturdy yet in winter slip;

Ivory lace and pearl ribbon pretty shoes I love.

Such blackness here, wild fears,

Cannot be helped;

Once I paused, and saw —

——-

His Raven eyes spellbinding me.

Tapping the window,

Glass shattering, I’m breathless

——-

Bedroom door locked, all asleep —

But for I,

Raven kaws, advances towards me.

—–

I’m prey, what he desires,

Shapeshifting bird becomes —

Enchanting man, tapping tappered fingers.

—–

“Stop playing games and come away,”

But in my —

Dreams of week’s before I —

——

Dreamt the Raven ripped out —

My throat raw;

I became his dark companion.

—–

Life was grand but I —

Lost myself,

In him; was loved but —

——

Destined for a fate I —

Scarce imagined with —

No place of my own.

—-

When his world became too —

Much, I required —

Thinking space, some breathing room.

——-

So when the Raven man,

Of my dreams,

Arrived — I knew him well.

—-

And while he stared with —

Fascination at my,

Coffee eyes purple-bruised, I —

——

Begged, if he was going —

To love me;

I required a quiet space.

—–

I couldn’t be his mistress,

His everything without —

“A room of [my] own.” *

—–

Without, I couldn’t function well,

And soar with –

Him at night; unless he —

——-

Promised to stay outside my —

Head, my. mind,

And leave my thoughts alone.

——-

We both needed some privacy.

So with shiny,

Wings bold we together flew.

——

Before our flight, he gifted —

Mint-sapphire ring,

Binding us both in our —

—–

Promises — me that I had,

Quiet space; he —

That I was his companion;

——-

His forever mate; loved well —

Our life together,

Shapeshifters seek dawn — Ravens night.

His world had been comprised of hastily constructed philosophies, which upon close examination, had failed him and promptly collapsed.

“Peanut butter,” he gasped moaning at the delicious taste of the product his mother had refused to feed him as a child.

“How can you have not tasted Peanut butter, Charlie? You’re thirty-nine years old and have been living on your own for twenty years. Didn’t it ever occur to you buy it, just once, to see what it tasted like?”

Charlie looked at Dana his mouth a gap,”This is mind blowing. All my life I thought Peanut butter would kill me. My mother convinced me my throat would swell, that I would die on the floor gasping for air if I ate it. But I’m fine. I’ve been eating it all day and it hasn’t made me sick  or made me have trouble breathing. My mother was a liar!”

“She was just trying to protect you, Charlie. You did say she saw a kid die from being exposed to peanut butter when she was in school. It’s why they don’t allow it public schools. Your mom should have let you try a bit of Peanut butter first to see if your body reacted,” Dana remarked.

Charlie shook is head and sighed with pleasure. “I’m going to be eating Peanut butter for the rest of my days, for all those years I was robbed of it’s taste and smooth texture.”

Dana laughed,”Careful Charlie, there is a lot of calories in peanut butter. You don’t want to ruin your physique.”

“Who cares. I swear I’ll go to the gym if that happens.”

Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: Grandpa’s Fish Pond #amwriting #flashfiction #fiction

Phallon watched the fish swim in the pond his Grandpa had installed in his backyard. He enjoyed visiting his Grandpa each Saturday. Grandpa had put the pond in because young Phallon loved the fish so much as a toddler; ‘fishes’ had been his first word.

Now he sat with Grandpa who asked him about school and of course the girls in his school. Uncomfortable, Phallon wished Grandpa didn’t ask him about that.

Grandpa simply laughed,”Phallon, I’m only teasing you. It’s good you have friends who are girls and that there are girls you like. This Jennifer, have you asked her out?”

Phallon’s face turned red, “Yeah we’ve gone to a movie together and bowling. I want her to be my girlfriend but her parents say she’s too young to have a boyfriend.”

Grandpa nodded a smile on his face, “You’ll find the right one when you’re older. When I saw your Grandma the first time, my heart lept out of my chest. I wonder if I will ever meet that right girl of yours and see you marry her?”

Phallon felt uncomfortable again, “Why wouldn’t you be there Grandpa? You’re only eighty-one?”

Grandpa patted Phallon’s hand then squeezed it, “You know, my boy, I’ve been sick a long time. It’s a battle I’ve mostly conquered, but my strength is waning these days. When you get married someday, think of your old Grandpa, okay?” Phallon nodded feeling a lump in his throat.

Two-years later Grandpa succumbed. Phallon was sixteen and felt raw inside. He returned to the fish pond in Grandpa’s  back yard. He noticed the fishes were floating and the reality of life made tears wet his cheeks. In the mess of the last two weeks including Grandpa’s funeral, no one had remembered to feed the fish.

Some nights I’m always broken.

I try to pick-up the pieces,

Motions occur unspoken.

I only shatter more, unceaseless.

—–

Finding the words, then I spoke.

Asleep nightmares gave no peace,

My puzzle has no fitting piece

Regretfully, I’m feeling choked.

—–

Water rising to my aching throat,

Sipping the liquid as I float,

The more I drink, I may not —

Drown; perhaps, I’ll find a life boat.

—–

Questions I ask, answers I know not,

Seeking the knowledge, mind don’t rot.

Functioning dot to dot,

Puzzled girl, completeness she sought.

Sunday Photo Fiction: Pirate Tales

“Sweet,”  eleven-year-old Edward exclaimed to his twin Ethan. “A ship from the eighteen-hundreds with canons. It’s like a ship from Pirates of the Carribean but it’s nicer.”

“Yeah,” Ethan added, “There are benches. Maybe, this pirate was rich?” Ethan was trying to gode his brother Edward and it worked.

Well, I think pirates were rich because they worked for the state as Privateers or Corsairs and raided ships full of cargo,” Edward gloated to Ethan.

“It’s called ‘commerce raiding’ idiot!” Ethan remarked.”Privateers had to have ‘a letter of marque’ from the government or King to raid the country’s enemy’s cargo ships. Often, they took cargo from ships their country was at peace with, they didn’t much care whose cargo it was because they would sell it on the black market either way.” Ethan said smartly.

Well, the Pirate Black Beard,” Edward said, trying to one-up his brother, “wrecked his own ship The Queen Ann’s Revenge. He ran it aground at the Beaufort inlet in North Carolina. When they found the shipwreck in 1996, it had twenty-six canons and and two-hundred-and-fifty – thousand artifacts.”

Clearly, you don’t know much about Blackbeard whose real name was Edward Teach.” Ethan said.”He was a privateer who became a pirate in the carribean later on, but his home base was around North Carolina.”

“Blackbeard had a party for his pirate friends located on his favourite hiding place, Ocracoke island. The Governor of Virginia sent Lt. Robert Maynard and the Navy to finally capture Blackbeard in 1718. Maynard trapped Blackbeard and his pirate friends on Ocracoke island.” Ethan taunted, but Edward interrupted him with his own knowledge of Blackbeard.

Maynard eventually shot Blackbeard who was still fighting him until another guy came up behind Blackbeard and slit his throat.” Edward mimed slitting Ethan’s throat and pushing him. Ethan frowned, trying to finish his story.

“Black beards head was cut-off and hung from Maynard’s ship as a warning to other pirates. Blackbeard had hidden treasure, but no one has ever found it…beat that stupid!” Ethan growled ready to tackle Edward.

“Boys, stop it!” the twin’s Mother yelled,”clearly you both know too much about Pirates, no more Pirates of the Carribean for you two, no Google either…”
