“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but – I hope – into a better shape.”

― Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

——

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal,

Life we’ve been taught, is malicious and cruel,

We suffer and it’s under mankind’s harsh rule.

Capitalism, more money, less feeling.

Factories still, workers paid little or none.

Have we past Dickinson’s time? Progress runs,

Children suffer, no home or love that’s real.

We’re not past an era of being fools.

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal.

—-

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal.

We need homes, our family’s love this Yule.

We need to remember those broken cruel,

By the hand life dealt them, by their hurts stung.

We need to let them be with us here, among;

To acknowledge the poor, the weak, and feel —

Their pain, let them know Christ’s here, life’s renewal.

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal.

——

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal.

Vital to understand, life has no rules,

It’s the reason there’s pain, badness accruals

But seek to do better, show the world meaning,

Demonstrate, don’t forget others —

Those close and those far, all are our brothers,

Our sisters on earth; so this Yule reveals,

Though life’s experiences have us all schooled,

A heart that’s been broken, needs charity to heal.

Tale Weavers Prompt: Poem – Octelle – “Story Line Wrote”

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this weeks prompt — Paper Back Writer:

” What is your great novel/novella/collection of short/flash fiction/poetry/ pulp paperback/graphic novel? Of course, you don’t have to write it, just write about it.

Weave any sort of tale;  in the abstract or concrete; as you or a character of yours; being accepted for publication; editing process; book tours – remember you ‘just wanna be a paperback writer.'”

I’m still working on a novel called: How Was Last Night For You? I’m editing it in second draft. Still a lot of work to do and haven’t had the time to work on it lately. This Octelle poem illustrates the story line roughly:

She wants love, but it keeps slipping,

Through her fingers, the Sirene dripping.

She’s a regular girl, too kind,

Believes in people and magic finds —

In her paranormal world sound,

Curses, mermaids, sea witch found.

Nina narrator, life gripping,

Focus and ire of a mer-witch.

John wasn’t smart at twenty-five,

Lied about girl, she cursed him live.

Where ever he wondered,

Strange events encountered.

People got hurt, women injured.

No love; witch’s wrath incurred.

Sees Nina drinking Flirtinie,

Sparks, passion, between them ignite.

A mermaid she is, sea witch too,

She’s experienced pain, heart broke through —

Victorian romance; cad —

He’d a mistress, kids they had.

Clued in after his death –cried,

Traveled, came home to new guy.

Adare never changed, men still lie.

No broken girl now -she’s Talise.

Characters wrote, story occurs,

Talise hates Nina — it’s inferred.

She cursed John left his soul burnt,

She wants John back, she’s a flirt.

Evil, she’ll never gain him through,

Her magic; Nina loves John true.

Witch’s wrath, all will suffer –die?

No one can say; writer yet edits.

Photo (Music) Challenge: Poem – LaJemme – “All of Her” #poetry #amwriting #music

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s music challenge. This one brought back memories of teenage angst and pain. It was one of my favourite bands and songs in high school. The band for this week’s prompt is Evanescence and their song: “My Immortal.”

Evanescence – “My Immortal”

——–

source: http://www.schumansblogspot.com

———-

Childess fear, devoice, perfectly placed; your words.

Compelling words, you’re afraid, have no voice.

Love, not a choice, it hurts; guess it’s for the birds

Faltering, smothered; clear you sing no choice

——-

Suffer, no relief uncovered.

Linger, another wound betrayed so.

Resonating light, preserved false love.

Scoundrel, thieving; she is wasting.

——-

Wipe bruising tears, yours deceiving.

Crocodile pours saltwater, stings.

Petals droop, swims face down, soul forming

Nothing left, sinner stole her soul’s wings

——–

Captivating man, just leave her within

Solid glass splits; why is life frustrating?

Fractured from ripping, your words scream flitting.

Untrustworthy, you’ve stole all her being.

———

Give her up, let her go; life moves forward.

She sheltered, faltered not; tears and regrets,

She rebuilds, sets constructing her torn heart

Disappeared; tells herself you two never met

Poem: Suffer Me

I am sitting in this place, stuck within this space; trying to get out and find a burst of energy.

I know I’ll never find it, but it doesn’t stop me from asking for it; that my suffering be taken away.

But I think that the man upstairs, sees more then we’re to know; we struggle with obstacles, and life isn’t fair.

Still, I’ll pray every single night, let me go back to a healthy life; let me work and let me exercise, let me concentrate, and memorize.

But I’m scared to ask for anything, when things get worse, when I ask for it to be better; maybe I shouldn’t ask, just be happy with an imperfect world.

What I want is so small, but would make such a difference to me. I could live a normal life and play on a level playing field with most everyone else.

I could have such empathy for those suffering because I know what it is to be in pain, to not live, while the world around you does.

But instead, I stay at home. I work on another course, and I sleep too much; I try to do some housework and  I tire easily with just a bit of exercise; I loved so much to be fit and work my body hard.

Sometimes going out in the day makes me fatigued for a day or two, never mind, the night; I just want a life, I just want to be able to do what many people do.

I want to live out a normal day, in the most normal way; not have my life ruled by a disease; neurons misfiring at synapses.

I don’t know what will make it right, not a medication, only a miracle; so I pray every night, and will always ask to have my energy back, to sleep well, and concentrate all day.

But I’m not sure my prayers will come to fruition because sometimes the answer is “no.” But I just can’t entertain that a God who loves me so, wants me to suffer this way all my life.

I would do so much better if I could be around people, and I could laugh and be myself again; who is this woman, I do not know? My identity is tied to this disease, it’s hard to separate “it” and “me.”

I blame my genes; I guess they’d be responsible for some kind of pain anyways; but not for everything, not for a mental, physical, psychological disease; it haunts me, lives in me, as an unwanted parasite.

Day 16 -NaPoWriMo- Terzanelle – ” I am not a Cold Person”

I am not a cold person

And I am not warm

I am not a cold person

I am the light of morn

I am the sky of day

And I am not warm

I crash through the dark

I spin through the light

I am the sky of day

I dance in the shadows

I suffer through the storm

I spin through the light

I want to be a kind person

I am not a cold person

I suffer through the storm

I am not a cold person

Suffer Alone

In response to Hastywords prompt: Theory of a Deadman IN RUINS

Were falling into bliss, kiss, destruction of our lives.

Do you know I’m ready to cry, there are no stones beneath my feet.

Hit, miss, you were something, now we’re nothing.

How could it be you who swept me off my feet, and then you dropped me,

What kind of gentlemen are you?

Release, I beg, release.

For, God’s sake, leave me in some kind of peace.

We are finished cold, and broken.

I have glass in my feet, from our shattered devotion.

You’re a liar and a thief, you took everything you had from me.

You’re a cheater, you’re a cad, you broke a girl and made her mad.

If you ever cared why did you come into my life like wind in the night,

carried me away like a dream wave, like the best thing that ever happened to me.

And now you dropped me as giant pearls falling off a string, bouncing into loneliness.

Did you even care at all, did it matter to you about the fall?

I fell hard, there was no one to catch me, and pick me up again.

You sing about our lives, you sing about your grief,

But you’ve never suffered the way I suffered, without relief.

How can you make promises, the moon and the all the stars,

How can you laugh the way we laughed, so hard it hurt to breath.

Now I can’t breath for shades of grief.

Release, release me I’m about to fall.

The hardest part about being alone, there’s no one to catch you,

you just crash and burn and suffer.

I fell, now I feel ageless, useless, tender and destroyed.

When there’s no one to catch you, you fall on hard stone.

All you do is suffer alone.

All you are is ruined.
