Come in, come play, the water’s warm and fine,

We’re all having fun, clothing  unnecessary.

Any nymph knows her body is pleasing.

But little we find young men who wander,

To visit us a while — let yourself rest.

Let your body be beguiled by us.

We’re girls full of laughter; blossoms —

To eat which are tasty and keep you near,

From leaving too soon; it’s a party here,

A never ending happy hour, wine flows —

From Dynosios cup; so drink up, sit back.

Time stands still and you’re forever a youth;

Caught in this moment, we’ll all feel —

Forever blissed; stay amongst us spirits,

Of the earth, of trees, grass, wood, and water.

We care for the forest, lush paths followed,

Hideaways, treasures, meant to last.

Gift of the gods, for us having beauty,

Like yours; but we offer you — explore.

Spend your eternity here, we see so few,

Such attractive men, so stay find pleasure,

Aid us keeping the world alive and safe.

For future generations, for our —

Children, and plenty of youthful men.

Your life could be dreamlike, could be blissful.

Come in, come play, the water’s warm and fine.

“So what are those exactly?” Todd asked Cheryl.

“Maybe the shop owner can tell us more. . . Hello Sir, what are these pottery items used for?”

“Little stoves. Keep you warm through winter’s night and keep the dark ones away.”

“Dark ones?” Todd and Cheryl asked in unison.

“Yes,” the man said, ” The evil spirits. The ones you don’t see. These stoves are good juju.”

“Juju?”

“They’re for candles. See venting in top lids. You leave them on when you sleep because bad ones will only leave then; it’s when they come out.”

“But what’s juju?” Todd asked the shop owner perplexed.

He sighed, frustrated, “Juju are items of magic. Can be magic for good or magic for bad. A curse or a blessing.”

Cheryl smiled. “That’s neat actually. I’ll take two, I don’t know about leaving them on at night . . .”

“Madam must leave them on this night or it will be too late.”

“Pardon?” Cheryl said nervously. She gazed at the shopowner thinking he was off his rocker.

Todd noticed the agitation of the shop owner and seeing how inexpensive the simple candle holders were, paid for four.

“Best choice. Spirits will flee,”the shop owner said bowing.

That night Cheryl awoke and to her terror she saw dark shadows such as dementors surrounding the bedroom ceiling above their bed.

Her eyes flew towards the candle holders nearby and she was relieved to see the dementor-like beings stayed away from the candle light. They left via the window which somehow had been opened.

Getting up Cheryl closed the window shivering both from cold and fear.

Hungry trees,

Flesh, bone,

Graves for —

Some.

Others,

Jump from

Branches; they

Fly, liberated.

Words echoing,

Clench heart,

Safe keeping,

Locked.

Hungry,

Thieves, conspiring,

Evil found,

Hold me.

—-

Spirits flying,

Running, screaming,

Terror finds,

Us.

Hurdling,

Uniting bodies,

Pillows absorbed,

Warmth’s lack.

—-

Hungry pines,

Needles deadly,

Grabbing greedily,

Wanting.

This,

Connection stubborn,

Maddening laughter,

Protecting me.

Pine’s hungry,

We’re quicker,
Sliding sagely,

Loving.

Deeper,

You’ll find,

Us bends,

Your mind.

Tale Weavers Challenge: Poem – Lunes –  “Talismans or Superstitions?” #taleweavers #amwriting #poetry

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie forhosting this week’s prompt on Talisemans:

” Talisman weave stories of our hopes, our fears, our dreams, our pasts, and our futures. Weave a tale about a talisman – perhaps one of yours, and let us into the sometime secret worlds talismans represent and protect.”

——

Tale Weavers

——-

Tale Weavers

——

It’s not an exciting story,

It’s not a —

Huge secret, I’ve few talismans.

—–

Save a cross, if one —

Would call crosses,

Talismans; but I’m not superstitious.

—–

When the dead are gone,

They’re good and —

Gone; to another place sent.

—-

Perhaps there exists wandering ghosts,

Lost wailing spirits,

But maybe, they’re demons deceitful.

—-

There’s no inbetween, no purgatory,

No nothingness, only —

Eternal life or eternal death.

—-

I don’t consider much is —

Coincidence or luck,

Mostly, there are miracles –hope.

—–

Prayer is beyond this realm,

Something spirititual; ethereal,

Unexplained, mysterious, but for faith.

—-

Yet, I think superstition is —

A human creation,

If we cannot explain something,

—–

Make up stories, so we’ll

All feel better,

When logically truth is quite clear.

——

A conundrum itself,

Faith mixed with,

Reason explaining what we fear.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – “Words on the Stairway ”

Back to my favourite rhymes I go,

Keep the rhythm quick as we flow,

Appeares that writing voice is back,

No need now for all your life hacks,

The refrain encapsulates vision, souring high.

The grandest place to thrive, creativity cries.

—–

Incased in suits, all bullet proof.

Meaning of powersuit, not aloof.

Fluttering new wings of glory,

Touching heaven, sparks gold stories.

Raining down vocabulary, feeling prose.

Writing anyways in poems, how this writer’s mind grows.

Round in circles, form graceful dances ever-glowing.

——

Phoenix rising, as he spins.

Diving down, prey on fish with fins.

Consuming all the rhymes precision.

No one can claim indecision,

Choose the words, that force you far into a whirlpool.

Round you’ve spun, twirling; time granted swirling jewels.

——

Another verse rises, ascending,

Riding stairways, crescendoing.

Flying the stairway to heaven,

Lyrics, mana, and nectar; times seven.

Wings of angels, spirits, enchant; singing —

Back to my favourite anthem of life, song ringing.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – “Forbidden.”

What is a wrapped refrain? A poem created by Jan Turner, consisting of 2 or more stanzas of 6 lines each with the rhyme scheme of a,a,b,b,c,c. and syllable counts: 8,8,8,8,12,12, where the first 4 syllables of the first line must repeat as the last 4 syllables of the last line, thus creating a refrain.

Thanks to Moon Skittles for information on this poetry form.

Commiserate, here with the sound,

Engrossed by obscure visions found,

Entranced by the consuming,

The glow of esconced words luming,

A treasure of enumerable value locked in kind,

With the resilience of the memories she did find.

—–

Unawares of surroundings,

Luminescence on the groundlings,

Pronounced prose by her spirit’s intent,

To immerse and beguile, and not present.

How her eyes flash brilliantly, an enchantment hidden,

Commiserating, absorbing, looks forbidden.

Poem: Hallowed Faith

How do you let your children out, while spirits whirl the earth; the forlorne dead they swirl out and surround your younglings softly.

Do their cute costumes scare the vapour away, while they beg for candy? Or, do the undead reach out for them because they know vulnerability.

I pray that if the door creaks extra loud in your dark basement you won’t think ill of all dejected presences. For where there is bad, there is always good and good is always stronger.

Don’t fear for the little ones on the streets, or in the shopping malls; pray and provide for the little ones who have had nothing to eat and can’t afford clothing (never mind, a costume.)

In the dark cementaries, the dead abide, but I think the soft murmers you hear are stirrings of your heart, for loved ones lost, holes inside you that will live while you do.

Though evil and horror exists, it’s found surface in people — the terrible demons in history. Look at the cross, don’t let evil win, and forget about the spirits dreaming.

Your happy loved ones who had faith, they went to heaven and their timeless paradise; they feel no pain, they are not moaning for you. They know you’ll come home soon — to them your life is seconds.

So, while spirits may tremble at the evil that walks, it’s because he is real but he hasn’t a shot, at your dear ones who have learned their prayers, and know what is right.

Children laugh at the figments of imagination that inspire a hallowed time of year; where candies mean more then the wandering spirits; and scary movies are fun, if you know there not real.

And while the zombies assemble, you watch the Simpson’s Halloween 2015. And your son or daughter will have M&M’s and Kitkats and you’ll take all their Reese’s Pieces –because they could have peanut allergies, you say.
