Days passing; someday we’re released.

We go about our days, we don’t know,

When our time is finished and done.

No one like us, but too soon we go.

——-

Days passing; someday we’re released.

Might as well live now and have fun,

No one like us, but too soon we go.

When our time is finished and done.

——-

Days passing; someday we’re released.

Let’s help each other, goodness show,

When our time is finished and done.

No one like us, but too soon we go.

——-

Days passing; someday we’re released.

Rise early facing brilliant sun.

No one like us, but too soon we go.

When our time is finished and done.

Mirrored Refrain:

The Mirrored Refrain is rhyming verse form constructed by Stephanie Repnyek. The poem is formed by three or more quatrains where two lines within the quatrain are the “mirrored refrain” or alternating refrain. The rhyme scheme is as follows: xaBA, xbAB, xaBA, xbAB, (etc.) x represents the only lines that do not rhyme within the poem. A and B represent the refrain. The first four stanzas of the example poem are labeled for better understanding.
