“Time present and time past are both perhaps present in time future. And time future contained in time past.”  ― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

———

Quidditch played above the ground below, I zoom,

Avoiding bludgers on my sleek broom stick.

The beaters nearby to keep me safe, I’m slick.

No one thought to ask why the dragons so loomed,

Why there coming pronounced such grave doom.

The chasers zoom ’round, to find the quaffle,

While the keeper guards the goals, I waffle.

Snitch in view, I, the seeker on my broom.

But the roars and the fire reach closer,

We’re becoming antsy as such fearsome —

Dragons fly into the field, some they screech.

No one sees, how short a lifetime is made,

When you’re flying for your life, no exposure,

If revealed, dragons will take you to keep.

To see,

With clarity,

Minds are required to —

Be open to possibility.

All the relevant outcomes forecasted,

Made with thinking of calculated —

Risks; all aspects bad,

Or fortunate,

To see.

——-

Because,

Limited sight,

Costs lives, so we try —

To foresee what could occur.

What is likely to happen in certain —

Situations; or what won’t —

Occur; we attempt to —

See the future,

Because.

——

We live,

Blindly despite,

Attempts to know.

We can’t actually know;

As much as we make it seem,

As if we can configure potential,

But it’s all a fantastic lie.

We know nothing but —

Footsteps ahead,

We live.

——

Blindly,

Our sight fades for —

Physically our prime is —

Short; but we can see past —

Spiritually if only —

We choose to see, to look within and find,

Our immortality left,

After we pass on.

We try to see,

Blindly.

——-

In life,

We desire to —

Know what happens —

Next; can we stop our fears,

Trouble from taking place or should —

We leave it in God’s hands and let,

Our worry and painful burdens,

Be His to decide,

Thy Will Be Done,

In life.

Love is all you need? Whoever said that perhaps was in the first stages of love.They hadn’t seen the nitty gritty yet, what separates those we love and those who truly love us from those who are but memories or experiences in our lives. To be honest with you, I’ve realized what I’ve felt of being ‘in’ love was so short it was hardly there. But I know what it was because I know what love’s not. It hurts thinking back to that time even though it was barely real.

I was also with a guy much longer and the love I tried to convince myself I felt, didn’t exist. In a sense I’m glad it wasn’t authentic because love is painful. It doesn’t mean because you’re in love with someone everything’s suddenly perfect. Love in relationships is a ton of work combined with trust which takes time to build. It’s a given your other half will do stupid and thoughtless things at times and so will you. Whatever the relationship, we’re all human and make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are huge and hurtful.

But in the spaces in-between are these perfect moments of sometimes physical but always heartfelt gestures of love, fleeting but memorable; these are the moments lovers live for. Love is being unselfish and it’s difficult for any human to consider someone else before themselves all the time. It would seem to me we need so much more than only love. But I know lasting love is possible because I know my Lord who says: “We love, because her first loved us.” With those words in my life, I feel this whole ‘true love’ thing might be a possibility someday.

Tale Weavers: Poem – Wrapped Refrain – “On Resolutions” #amwriting #poetry #taleweavers

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerieor hosting last week’s Tale Weaver’s prompt on a story of keeping/making resolutions in the New Year.

—-
It’s difficult, keeping going in —

The face of rejection given.

I’ve learnt be fortified; than —

My cave won’t fall in strengthened

I’ve succeeded at some tries, failed at many others,found,

Resolution; one must, keep pushing all boundaries.

—–

So, what do we resolve, anything new

We continually have goals in view.

Hoping we’ll achieve something great.

Or make it through each day, not wait —

Wondering if the grass is greener, if inspiration

Can take flight, provide meaning, when we require.

—–

Do we lose weight, eat less sugar?

Walk more, live our lives with vigor?

Do we spend time with loved ones,

Knowing we’re here, short while for some.

Do we travel somewhere far away or give home —

To pets from the shelter? Strangers who are unknown
—–

We can resolve, try much harder,

Do better, be specific, guard —

Ourselves, take baby steps to —

Goals we want achieved through,

A change in habit, will it happen or will we —

As every year, change only when life forces free —

—–

What we truly need to change and be,

Beyond ourselves, have self-belief,

We will actually take a step, glean —

Some knowledge from the year, lean

Far from our own circles to celestial dreamscapes

It’s difficult to be grounded; worse to not create

Photo (Collage) Prompt: Poem – Free Verse – “Angel Down, Angel Down” #amwriting #poetry #angeldown #ladygaga

Lady Gaga Live – ” Angel Down”

I’m so thrilled with Lady Gage’s new album. I love her dance and pop-music stuff but her new songs, some of them go deep. This is one of those songs and I used the lyrics “Angel Down” for this poem. What I love is how in the video she is live, and sounds the same as if you were listening to her on her new album. Talented singer!

——–

She built her life, she built it strong, made it so —

It wouldn’t fall;but you can fortify —

The keep, make it so no one can slip in,

There are always cracks within perfection;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——-

You can see the lines forming before she breaks,

Memories from the past she thought would save.

She’s safe –an illusion broken when the mirror —

Of life shatters within her face, she’s beat;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——

Trapped in a birdcage, no song to sing,

Her tunes aren’t lucid and her wings are clipped,

Such dreams as a young woman, such glad times,

Now she’s angry, so frustrated — life’s a lie;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——

Paints her makeup mask, hide the mirror’s blood tracks,

She thinks she’s imperfect tries to conceal —

New dress, she’s pretty, long legs on display yet,

She can’t hide feelings, she doesn’t fit in here;

Angel Down, Angel Down

—–

He said heels were stupid, girls can’t walk on —

Four-inch needles; yet they made her happy.

Night of the dance, stumbled; wore light blue chucks,

Sitting on the radio at the party crying;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——

Years pass, another day spent sifting in,

Her see-through life, on clothing racks, she —

Attempts to find the perfect fit,  but she —

Knows like her, it’s elusive, can’t be found;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——-

Music saves some, for others it magnifies

A hurt and hole inside her –can God even fill?

Remembering hideaways, experiences —

To fill the void within, smile with tears dripping;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

——-

Time in lavish living rooms, won’t make her,

Feel love she’s so denied; she can’t even —

Love her own body, isn’t what it was,

She fingers trinkets bought, fears with tears smear;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

—-

Jewel she thought would invoke good memories,

Fill her with hope and joy again; sharp pains of —

Her past; but now her wings have been pried off,

She’s a habiscus plucked and dying slow;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

—–

Packing suitcases, her body trembles,

She’s going on journey; her state of mind —

Broken; but she’s trying to heal and she —

Prays new memories, stop her rapid descent;

Angel Down, Angel Down.

—–

Please somebody, please help an Angel Down and —

Unlock her cage –the one she created,

Show her some love, let her taste freedom.

Be someone she can trust, so she won’t fade;

Angel Down, Angel Down

—–

Angel found her feet and flew,

Sailed above clouds anew;

The sun glints of her smile and–

She’s brand new bird who trills;

Angel Found,  Angel Found.

Literary Lion: Fierce

http://www.pinterest.com

There was no girls volleyball team in high school after grade ten. Jenna went to the couch of the boy’s team and asked if she could practice volleyball with them. The couch reminded her it might be difficult but Jenna was fierce. She ran every set of lines the boys team did and she learned to take passes which left dark purple bruises on her forearms. She learned to do a jumping serve, with the ball landing over the net and neatly down the line. Jenna was passionate about volleyball and improving her skills. Despite her lack of reach, she passed or set every ball in her zone. Jenna’s hitting was powerful and her knowledge of plays and positions detailed. Finally, Jenna went to University and played with a girls team which went on to win Nationals four-years in a row — each year Jenna was a force on the team. They boys in high school had called her a panther: “Though she be little she was fierce.”

Thanks to Laura from I Smith Words for the prompt panther in a story of 150 words or less.

Poem: Life Lost

http://www.galmeetsglam.com

When life flickers out as a candle flame,

It’s easy to think that life is all in vain.

When life takes a turn you weren’t expecting,

It’s easy to go about the problem dissecting.

—–

We don’t get to choose when we die,

Life flickers, leaves are body with a sigh.

In the hands of the ultimate time keeper,

We throw up our hands and weep.

—–

It’s not our choice, it is not for us,

To see our futures, to know when we go to dust.

Every death is a shock; God help us if it’s not,

To end a journey on this earth is frought,

—–

With our bodies we trust, falling apart and breaking down.

It doesn’t mean we should lose all hope and frown,

We need to pray for grace, and wisdom in life.

To live our lives to the fullest the best way we can in constant strife.

—–

Please believe, if you have Faith in God and follow His ways,

You will see your loved ones in heaven some day,

Time apart will be minimal,

Time in heaven is subliminal.

—-

There is life, and there is hope don’t be scared,

Only consider we have so few years to be beared,

Earth is full of broken people with open hearts.

Fill up their hearts with prayers and let hope start.
