 ——-

“ Triolet is a traditional poetry form that consists of one stanza that is eight lines long. It has the rhyme scheme ABaAabAB, in which the first, fourth and seventh lines are the same and the second and eighth line are the same.

In the example, we show you how this breaks down, and show you the rhyme scheme:
Line 1 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays. Line 2 (B): When love, and life and I was new Line 3 (a): and full of easy, girl-child ways. Line 4 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays Line 5 (a): before carefree lost to lean-hipped sway Line 6. (b): before I gave me, stained-red to you. Line 7 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays, Line 8 (B): When love and life I was new.”

 Gazing above to warm white sand beaches.

Waves lullabies in the shallows, granting rest.

Stress below surface melts with Bellinis peach.

Gazing above to warm white sand beaches,

Reading, wadding avoiding ocean deep

Breathing in seasurf, breezes relaxing breath.

Gazing above to warm white sand beaches.

Waves lullabies in the shallows, granting rest.

Can you put my pieces back together?

Make me whole again? I long for —

Air rushing against chrome, driver moving —

As fast as full throttle can go more

Fill me with people; fix my engine too.

Put some diesel in the tank go for —

A day trip with your hands on the wheel,

Switching gears, we drive until I’m healed.

—–

Let’s go for a drive, to the seaside,

Find some entertainment on sandy beaches.

Let the girls wear their Jantzen suits glide,

Into lake shallows, splash each other, each

Laughing, cloche hats tight; stockings gone beachside,

Honk my horn –it’s time to go; don’t screech —

My tires, they’re full of air, we’re driving fast,

Back in the days, driving was a pastime

*Jantzen – swim suits more like swim dresses from the 1920’s made out of a stretchy thick jersey, not wool as many previous swim suits were made from.  Jantzen jersey swim dresses were stretcher than regular jersey material.

*Cloche hats – swim caps with a strap under the chin to hold them on a woman’s head and worn in the 1920’s.

She’s only twelve, bright —

The only girl separate from,

Her brothers four.

Parents her adore,

Their last child, girl comes,

For Mom she’s a sight.

—-

A surprise one spring;

Thought there’d be no more kids born.

They so much wanted,

Girl so undaunted;

By elder brothers‘ scorn.

Bird fluttering wings.

—–

She laughs so cheery,

Going about her day, she’s teased

By family with love.

Animals adore,

She’s the darling who pleases,

Makes life less dreary.

—-

Out feeding horses,

Then, rides with such glee calling,

Her dogs following.

Danger in shallows,

Ocean so near, tumbles, falls;

Swims smart, resourceful!

—–

Into warm arms pulled,

Mom near lost her dear, her pearl.

Dad is so wrathful,

She wasn’t thoughtful

And where were her brothers? She —

Was grounded some.

—–

Didn’t think enough;

She’s safe, all is well, she’s hugged,

Held close by her Mom,

Told, “Be careful hon!”

You’d be missed, you’re much loved.

Mom again gives hug.

—–

She’s happy again.

Learned she’s human, as others.

Preteens can die too.

Better to ride through —

Ocean waves, with friends, brothers.

So life it remains
