#NovemberNotes Day 30/Three Line Tales: Nonfiction – Breaking the Shell #flashfiction #3LineTales #amwriting

Break the Shell” by India Arie

Hard decisions are frustrating, such as spray painting a mural and wanting it to be perfect, then watching it painted over in white the next day; but we can’t let indecision and fear hold us back as shadows too make a person whole. We want to live a life without pain but that life doesn’t exist because life hurts no matter what and is meant to be felt; if we stay inside ourselves, then we’ll never accomplish our potential. I am certain that flying free means breaking out of our shells to thrive and take chances; and if we don’t decide to try we’ll remain trapped on the ground, always wondering, what if?

———

Sunlight bursting through once starlit glass gleams;

Rectangular windows above pedway’s,

Casting warmth with afternoon’s welcome rays.

High in the Heavens sun’s ambience beams,

To and fro the people pass by chatting.

Beams grey-green with geometric slats.

A vantage obstructed yet pristine—

In midnight ink with moon’s luminous sheen.

Sunlight bursting through once starlit glass gleams.

Sunlight bursting through once starlit glass gleams,

Casual movements of the light digress,

A subtle pace alters with night’s impressions.

From dark beauty to warmth daylight streams,

High in azure sky light enfolds brightly.

We absorb warmth into our souls once blighted,

Prosperous pedway light glows so serene.

Metal supports create shadows, daydreams.

Sunlight bursting through once starlit glass gleams.

Caribbean,

Santaroni seas.

Azure sky’s gleam.

Cornflower behind sunglasses,

Waves, turquoise jade.

Powder blue, mint, combine.

Sapphires, Lapis Luzila,

Midnight and ink.

Navy meets perry-winkle,

Sky and water blend.

Country blue dreams,

Blue-bells tattooed;

Tanned legs.
Float on soothing waves,

Whitest sand.

Shadows dim,

Beneath water’s surface;

Shadows see shadows,

And leap.

Sunday Photo Fiction: Awakening the Dragon #flashfiction #amwriting #dragon

——

Sophia hid in her closet, it was her only safe place. Hanging on a ceiling was a mobile with a handcrafted dragon. She remembered thinking the dragon was frightening, but whenever the darkness in her room swallowed her, the dragon’s eyes flashed; the shadows were obliterated.

She also remembered when her mom first hit her. She scrubbed Sophia’s cut and it was excruciating as was the burning stringent liquid her mom poured on it.

Suddenly, Sophia heard yelling and stomping. The closest door flew open — her mother was drunk again.
Instantly, the dragon’s eyes above her caught fire. He grew into a monster with golden scales and the scent of fire and ash, spreading and filling Sophia’s entire bedroom. He blew a blaze of fire at her mom but only the bottle of Kirkland Tequila (1.75 Litres/$20.00) in her mom’s hand disintegrated.

In words veiled in smoke the dragon hissed at Sophia’s mom who nodded; she understood the dragon’s warning. He breathed out his last plume of smoke and except for the acrid smell, it was if Sophie’s dragon had never awoken.

She crawled out of her hiding place and petted the handcrafted dragon hearing him purr.

” . . .Don’t get to close its dark inside. It’s where my demons hide, it’s where my demons hide” – “Demons” by Imagine Dragon

——-

They’re people we meet,

In them darkness keeps.

A veil over haunted eyes,

Something telling weighs,

Light badly betrays;

Shadows lift, they’re undisguised

—–

Putting on a face,

Something’s hidden; pace —

Steadily, you’re caught thinking.

Truth can be harmful,

Darkness it swarms.

Seeming ruse has us shrinking.

——

To start, talk awhile;

Some demons revile

Other darkness isn’t asked for it’s,

Unfairly gifted,

Souls broken, shifted;

Waiting for light at home lit.

——-

No one is so lost,

They can’t be reformed.

Shadows hold tightly, a hand —

Gives hope in the dark,

Heals bruising black marks.

Keep helping, say: “Here’s my hand.”

—–

Though darkness found can —

Be fearful, programmed,

In those with no conscience led;

Most people are sought,

It happens a lot;

We’re trapped in nightmares dread

—–

But the light of hope,

In dawn always glows

Derelict souls need help, change,

Is possible;

Not impossible.

Leave no one entrapped; estranged.

“But how can one regret what, to the mind, has never existed? Even loss is an inaccurate description, for what loss is without the awareness of losing?” – Nicole Krauss

——

Reflections or shadows briefly stand,

Together as soulmates, us two

Lovers.

——

Your illusion captivates,

Your splendour resilient,

Eyes bright.

——

Even mirror images,

Destain to show your glory told,

Goddess.

——

Knew you once as a child laughing bold,

Called you names and pulled your hair,

Cute girl.

——-

You’ve grown and you’ve changed,

Hair black and sweeping, shoulder length,

Glossy.

—–

Green eyes telling a story of —

Smiling lips, straightened teeth gleaming

Perfect.

—–

Stubborn chin, lovely breasts rising,

Fluted waist, lush body, legs —

Stellar.

—-

Curves run imagination wild and I,

Stare, hopeful to hear your lilting voice —

Whisper.

*****

I examine our reflections,

How strange you hate your beloved —

Husband.

—–

Caring for you as Alzheimers,

Steals your lifememories; you’re —

Forty-nine.

Sunday Photo Fiction: Poetry – Octain Refrain – “Three Lights” #amwritng #poetry #flashfiction

—–

Three lights in the darkness, pitch black all ’round.

A night deep, the black ink deftly hiding,

Criminals, the lost, truly evil find.

Misdeeds better performed where every sound —

Is a nightmare calling, no justice found.

Unrevealed secrets proffered, ungrounded,

Realization of innocents expounding

Out here ‘neath stars, curse of night, hurt resides.

Three light in the darkness, pitch black all ’round.

—–

Three lights in the darkness, pitch black ’round,

Presence of luminescence, rats scatter .

Lights are strong, don’t flicker, they matter.

Bring attention to the wounded, those drowned

All their sorrows piling-up —burdens

Shine your light thrice, save them for certain.

Demonstrate there’s another way clattering

Sing songs of broken hearts; at last they’re found.

Three lights in the darkness, pitch black all ’round.

—–

Three lights in the darkness, pitch black all ’round.

Though we may fear darkness, here there’s no need,

As long as there’s light radiant, just heed.

Never let your fears overcome, light resounds,

Washes out creepersshadows; it centres.

Gives hope for tomorrow, transformed life mends

Malevolence abounds, stay grounded

Light always wins —brilliance all precedes.

Three lights in the darkness, pitch black all ’round.

Writers Quote Challenge: Poem – Licentia – “Filling The Cup” #writersquotechallenge #poetry #amwriting

Thank you to Jacqueline and Bernadette, from A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales for hosting the All New Writer’s Quote Challenge. Here’s this week’s prompt quote:

“We are all vessels. The question is what are the contents of your vessel?”

——–

http://www.pinterest.com

——

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

We cannot keep all the dreary out nor —

The demons within; release what’s ill and poorly.

Light shines in your shadows keeps the cobwebs,

From ceasing thoughts which need to be said.

Let your vessel overrun with hope, joy —

Though difficult, let not out what annoys.

Tranquility, contentedness find,

Don’t let the dark days your soul to confine.

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

—–

We cannot keep all the dreary out nor —

The demons within; release what’s ill and poorly.

Find vessels alike, fill each other’s cup

Never destain to ask all your friends,”What’s Up?”

Tears fill us sometimes, but joy overflows too,

Let happiness feed each other, connection through —

Friend or family uplifts one another.

Strangers walking trade smiles, vessels fill love.

We are with each other so we might as well live

Providing all people with kindness given.

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

Poem: Inverted Refrain – “Light His Words” #poetry #amwriting #christmas

Credit: Christmas Moment

——

For more information on the Inverted Refrain Type of Poetry see HERE

——

You told me to seek out glowing light,

Shining through the shadow’s eerie prowl.

You told me to search, put up a fight.

But darkness creeping made me scowl,

In a shuttered room, such a sight,

Light entered in my heart soft white.

——

You told me to seek beyond all glimmer,

In rough housing, a dank stable.

Prayers answered found in the dim.

Move through sadness as I’m able.

Sunlight came in through a window.

Broken pieces fit, once more cabled

——

You told me to seek out a source of hope,

It’s difficult when you’re fragmented.

When life makes no sense, and you choke,

Forgetting life is heaven sent.

          Words, many vital unspoken,

Fading dream; to him not present.

——

You told me keep reaching for light,

Guidence from your blessed kind words.

I’m still dealing, an unglued fright,

But I found my resting place, heard —

         Such honour, glorious of sights,

A babe at Christmas, light His words.
