I think we consider too much the luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm. —Franklin D. Roosevelt

You can see them swooping from the trees up high, they hope they’ll —

Find a tiny morsel, a scrap of food to eat, to sway —

Nature in their favour to —

Live another busy day through.

Birds hoping to find worms to eat,

Survival filled with such screeching

Wings drifting on the wind, their tweets now satisfied they ate —

Today was a lucky day, a game of chance they’re sated

Fortune favours the brave so they say, but is it the brave —

Who triumph or their prey, having such a terrible bad day?

However, we try, birds diving,

Can’t save the fish from dying

The birds eat, fish already gone.

Bad luck today, forever they’re gone.

In the cliffs in the distance, I watch birds swiftly fly,

Plunging, gliding higher, for soon they’ll be prey in sky.

For fortune knows, on certain days we win and on others —

We lose, so the birds they’re a meal ticket too, so discovered,

By bigger birds with talons sharp,

By the ocean’s creature’s smart.

Waiting for the birds to dive low,

Then gulping them down, never slow.

Call it the circle of life but it’s a necessary

You can see them, so survive while you can, live eagerly

A Mixed Bag

A handsome hawk watched as a sparrow spreading its impressively small wings, approached the birdfeeder. This fellow was piggish and fed on the seed a while. His red-brown back and tail with dark black mixed in with red-brown, made him highly visible.

After a while, the male sparrow flew away from the feeder back to his nest, and his mate appeared to come eat. She also ate an amazing amount of birdseed before flying back to her nest. The mama sparrow was plump but her feathers in comparison to the male, were dull to keep her and her chicks hidden. If his eyes weren’t so sharp, he would have barely noticed her.

The hawk watched the couple from far above, his eyes sensing and studying their every momevement at their nest. He knew there were baby sparrows in the nest. Mostly, he was concerned about the fat sparrows. The babes he heard peeping were too tiny and shrivelly to eat.

The hawk screeched, his loud cry deafening as he swooped down, his reddish feathers gleaming, a nightmare on wings. When the plump sparrows each returned to the feeder to eat more seed, the hawk mercilessly crunched them between his sharp razor beek and ate them one at a time. How they never suspected he was close, he didn’t understand.

This was the natural world taking place, the food chain in action; though it might seem unfair and harsh it was how it was. But as the daylight darkened into night and the well fed hawk flew back to his own nest, a great horned owl swooped in for his own dinner.

In the morning, a mother sparrow, having lost her own brood, landed near the nest where she heard the tiny birds chirping. She looked into the nest and chirped back and then sat among the chicks; she realized they were abandoned.

Wary of of predators from her own past experiences, she waited to gather food until when she was sure it was safe. Perhaps nature sometimes made up for its treachery, even if the truth if the food chain was ‘eat or be eaten.’

Poem: Free Verse – “In Eyes Perceive” #wordhighjuly #poetry #balintataw

I’ve lost clarity; it’s obvious, observe —

When I’m peering through dense walls,

Where you disguise your life;

I’m blinded from your changing eyes.

Obsidian pupils, shining as glass;

Solidification of molten lava black.

Rings of green surround pupils.

In certain light, your eyes blackish-green fire;

In another light, they’re a grassy knoll.

I perceive your eyes, understanding you;

When you’re hostil, temperamental;

Your eyes alter colour, swirling into black.

A bitter ocean, a complex green.

Obsidian pupils merge; fight pleasant green.

The storm rages, your eyes stay grating.

As steel and concrete,

You’re cold, unflinching.

When you’re serene and absorbed in life;

Your eyes tint with light,

Glow with presence;

Glimmering alert, understanding.

Conversing comfortably;

Words match your eyes.

Face, sure and bright;

Joy glows from your lips,

The creases in your smile.

Wrinkles, fan your eyes;

You laugh and illuminate my sight.

Your fantastic mood drawing people to you,

My beacon.

But my favourite vantage,

Of your eyes;

Dark pupils focus, adore me slow.

Feeding an ethereal glow;

Throwing off embers of warmth.

Mysterious eyes, wide-open;

Your true-self, no posing.

Brilliant fire of space simmering;

Us a compass twain,

Star dust and nebulas.

You appear almost sleepy,

Eyes perceiving my eyes;

Mood indicators; receptors of feeling.

The lights in all the stars,

Of every universe, combined.

Heat from your heart (and other parts),

Obsidian meeting obsidian sheen;

Aurora Borealis in our eyes gleam.

Waves of heat and colour impress.

Of all the giant and tiny world’s,

Unparalleled; the world we combine.

Nebulas spark across the dark;

Your truth is when you memorize me,
Satisfied smile, softly content.
We’ve conquered stars;

As light is the only source,

Differing our eyes; a genetic defect passed,

Transforming brown, to blue and green;

The Northern Lights,

Enfolding us in time, our space.

Turns out blue or green eyes is not a pigment, it has to do with structural colour and the scattering of light in certain conditions.

Poem: Laturnes – ” Be As You Are.”

You could

Go back in

Time and have a

Make things

Right again.

I wonder if

You changed the

How would

It change the

Here and now you

Is  too

To know change could

The best

And turn life

Upside down and

You if you

Were not the same

You used

To be in

Futures past dream

Instead of

Altering past

Should be

Content with

The way things are

In past

Incidents could

Go horribly

Come what

May and be

Happy you are

To live

Your life and

All things aside

Very best

Person who is

Being Satisfied with Your Body

I complained a month ago how I had gained about 10 lbs from a sleeping medication I needed to take. I was desperate to lose the weight as soon as possible especially because I had lost said 10 lbs the year before doing Herbal Magic.

Here I am a month later and you know what? I haven’t lost the weight. And it bothers me a bit still. Also, I have given the situation an honest go for a couple weeks trying my Herbal Magic diet and these green coffee bean pills to kill my appetite when I wanted to snack. But I am realizing a few realities, the first is that it takes much longer to lose weight then it does to gain weight. And as much as I try completely giving up on Pepsi does not seem to work for me. I just find I am only able to drink 1 can as my special item of the day and 1 fat portion.

If you truthfully want to know my will has backfired on me and I’ve been eating too much peanut butter, not keeping track of my food intake on paper, drinking too much Pepsi, and not eating enough vegetables and fruit. So how did I stagger so far from my goal?

I’m not sure. But I don’t intend to settle for being over weight this much if I can help it. It’s time to bring back portion control and discipline. On the other hand, I have realized exactly what I have preached to you guys every time I have written an article about weight and body issue. Love your body. No I don’t think it’s okay to be obese and overweight but I think we all go through fluctuations in our body weight. And I could focus on the fact that I would be fit if I had the ability to do cardio or I can love me right now and as I go through my difficult journey to watch my diet and lose weight. They say 85% of losing weight is dieting anyways.

So, as I think that as women and men we have to come to a point where we stop obsessing over every weight fluctuation we experience. Often these changes are impossible to predict or occur without us noticing. It’s much more vital for us to be able to live with ourselves and not be disgusted, take care of our bodies, and try to be healthy even when sometimes we find ourselves moving more towards the unhealthy way of living. There are so many outside factors that influence weight so we can only control those as best as humanly possible.

I hope this helps you on your daily struggle to be more fit and healthy. I would like to be positive on my blog and find more topics to write about besides my boring weeks. I hope that’s something I can do for you.
