———

You might think it peculiar to let kids,

Be small, to let them be silly, weird,

When most of their life is spent in,

‘Adulting,’ learning how to,

Be big, responsible,

I say as Auntie:

Let them be them,

Creative,

Full of,

Fun.

——

Let,

Them be,

Wild beings,

Think of stories,

Imaginative,

And implausible, but —

Believe them because you’re,

Playing along, taller tales,

Demonstrate creativity,

For kids, it keeps them young, growing older.

——

Think of tilting towers, Big Ben in blue –

Green prairie sky, a storm brought him here.

But he bends, tilts just because and,

Storm brought along a grand,

Gothic cathedral roof,

Pointed top I’m sure —

Missed somewhere; hot —

Air balloon,

Holds our,

Dreams.

—–

Where,

We live

With such rich,

Possibility.

Imagining,

Tall towers floating in,

Moon lit skies, princesses,

Saving themselves, jumping from,

Clouds, the moon indeed smiling so proud,

Girls and boys — escape from their own towers.

——

Locked fortresses floating, new challenge,

Escaping by flying pirate ships old,

Never turning back to the light,

Of a trapped home, wishing most,

To be little, secure,

Not worry about,

A dragon’s fire,

A port in,

Mid-air,

Light.

—–

Sought,

In night’s,

Binding grip,

All children search,

For understanding,

A hug and kiss when they’re lost,

Hurt, or at least a safe place works.

For home; mom’s gentle touch when,

Nightmares thrive; become to real, kids hide;

But parents are there, provide a haven.

——-

So encourage kids to harness their,

Creativity, to paint and draw,

To find their passions in life, so —

Maybe they can live them too.

Or find a haven in,

Their talents, their skills,

Urging away,

Stress; relief,

‘Cause life,

Hurts.

—–

So,

We teach,

Live your dreams,

Let them unwind

You; be as free as

Butterflies; don’t be tacked,

To a board on the wall kept.

Fly lovely, safe, remembering,

Humanity is indeed so —

Delicate at times; you’re not invincible.

—–

But in the power of the imagination,

You can always escape the threads,

Binding you to reality.

You can have liberty,

Smile, eat your cake too,

And hopefully,

Your partner,

The one who,

Loves you,

Most.

—–

Has,

Their own,

Inner child,

Understands and,

Knows, love is gentle,
Love is fiery, bold,

Love and creativity,

Both hold; let you be dauntless, free,

Full of life, security to —

Be held; be wild both as adult and child.

——

Come in, come play, the water’s warm and fine,

We’re all having fun, clothing  unnecessary.

Any nymph knows her body is pleasing.

But little we find young men who wander,

To visit us a while — let yourself rest.

Let your body be beguiled by us.

We’re girls full of laughter; blossoms —

To eat which are tasty and keep you near,

From leaving too soon; it’s a party here,

A never ending happy hour, wine flows —

From Dynosios cup; so drink up, sit back.

Time stands still and you’re forever a youth;

Caught in this moment, we’ll all feel —

Forever blissed; stay amongst us spirits,

Of the earth, of trees, grass, wood, and water.

We care for the forest, lush paths followed,

Hideaways, treasures, meant to last.

Gift of the gods, for us having beauty,

Like yours; but we offer you — explore.

Spend your eternity here, we see so few,

Such attractive men, so stay find pleasure,

Aid us keeping the world alive and safe.

For future generations, for our —

Children, and plenty of youthful men.

Your life could be dreamlike, could be blissful.

Come in, come play, the water’s warm and fine.

Saturday Mix Flash Fiction: Soliquey – Blank Verse – “The Con” #amwriting #soliliquey #fiction #SaturdayMix

Thanks to Bastet from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting Saturday Mix. This week’s prompt is a soliloquy at a train station. I’ll be using blank verse or unrhymed iambic pentameter as the Bard did.

—–

“Imagine a scene, a train is pulling out of the station and a person standing on the platform looking dejected. What can have happened. Perhaps this person is someone in the station wishing to leave but for some reason hasn’t. “

——

——-

So leaves the train, so leaves my heart,

Why him I once loved, now I know not?

Must have been his eyes so brilliant a green,

Gems such as emeralds, a sea-green storm brewed.

Was it his cavalier smile, his laugh?

With him I felt wanted, weak in the knees.

I was his Queen, he my adoring King.

He cared for me gently, said I shouldn’t stay —

On my own, for he loved me; fooled me,

Underestimated a woman cruelly scorned.

I saw cracks in the vase, facade crumbled,

An artist’s dream of beauty such a fake,

He left, emptied my pockets of money.

This con thinks he’s safe going to Bahamas,

Since he betrayed me, I say differently.

He’ll be doing some flying, and me thinks he’s done.
Thrown off the tallest bridge, out of the train.

Expensive was his end, but I’m appeased

I watched his train moving away, still —

Missing his voice, his touch, time spent loving.

But I know he never loved me, I was ‘means’ —

To an end; yet, the ‘real end’ was his own.

——-

Mommy you let go my hand, I’m quick–

Mere seconds pass, I’m laughing freely,

I run.

—–

Mommy, I’m giggling what it is —

Feeling free, everyone looks at me,

Smiling.

—–

Down the aisles of Superstore,

You’ve lost me, can you find me now?

I’m fast.

——-

Boxes, packages to pull down,

Grinning, happy, into candy,

Sitting —

——-

Waiting for me on the shelf are —

My favourite chocolate and gummies;

Mommy?

——

Where’d you go? I think I’m lost,

I’m scrunching my face, tears begin,

Where’d you —

——-

Go? Mommy; don’t leave me here now,

Some lady grabbed my hand and —

It hurts.

——

She won’t let go, dragging me off,

Stranger danger; no one helps me,

Let Go!

*****

It’s okay now, Mommy is here

Holding you close, grabbing your hand;

She runs.

——

Scared I’ll turn her in and I should,

Who tries to kidnap a child in —

Daylight? —

——–

At all? Cannot trust, stay near me,

Now you know why and you’re safe,

From harm.

—–

Mommy will never let you go,

Her precious boy, her sweet sunshine,

Is hers.

Flash Fiction for The Purposeful Practitioner: The Open Road

Thanks to Roger Shipp for hosting FFftPP.

road
Credit: Roger Shipp

The open road can take you anywhere. There are many places to go, its so difficult to decide precisely which road you will take. On one hand, you have opportunity and potential before you. You’re bursting with aspirations and a chance to discover a new or familiar place and make it your own. You’ve a desire to create lasting and meaningful memories.

But on the other hand, there’s the downside of open roads. Roads aren’t always safe. You believe the road ahead is empty, but you never see a speeding car whipping out, when you both crash. You aren’t paying attention when you see a moose in the middle of the road, directly in your path. You may have the SUV but he’s huge and more likely to kill you.

Journeys aren’t what we think they’ll be. Some of them lead to misery and pain. Some of them lead to mistakes and learning the hard way. But it’s the price of travelling the open road. As you’ve little idea if you’re playing the correct card in a Black Jack, you have little idea where that open road will lead, or end.

—–

She’s only twelve, bright —

The only girl separate from,

Her brothers four.

Parents her adore,

Their last child, girl comes,

For Mom she’s a sight.

—-

A surprise one spring;

Thought there’d be no more kids born.

They so much wanted,

Girl so undaunted;

By elder brothers‘ scorn.

Bird fluttering wings.

—–

She laughs so cheery,

Going about her day, she’s teased

By family with love.

Animals adore,

She’s the darling who pleases,

Makes life less dreary.

—-

Out feeding horses,

Then, rides with such glee calling,

Her dogs following.

Danger in shallows,

Ocean so near, tumbles, falls;

Swims smart, resourceful!

—–

Into warm arms pulled,

Mom near lost her dear, her pearl.

Dad is so wrathful,

She wasn’t thoughtful

And where were her brothers? She —

Was grounded some.

—–

Didn’t think enough;

She’s safe, all is well, she’s hugged,

Held close by her Mom,

Told, “Be careful hon!”

You’d be missed, you’re much loved.

Mom again gives hug.

—–

She’s happy again.

Learned she’s human, as others.

Preteens can die too.

Better to ride through —

Ocean waves, with friends, brothers.

So life it remains

Poem: Free Verse – “Prayer for the Small Things” #amwriting #poetry #prayer

Credit: Saatchi Art – Thank God For Women Legs by Thomas Saliot

——–

Oh Lord, thank God for the small things,

The words and acts of kindness,

Which help me through the day.

Thank God for the small things,

Each day I’m fed,

I’ve many clothes to wear.

Thank you that I too can be generous

That you gave me a Mother who taught —

Her daughter to be thoughtful,

So I wouldn’t think only of myself.

And even when I’m hurt and crying

I can see a silver lining in that cloud.

*****

Lord, thank you for the small things,

A life I’m given to live

No matter how battered or bruised

You’re my armour and you never leave.

Your champions wage

Though the whirlpool may swallow;

You bring us through to the other side.

New blessings each day,

More than we need or want, or deserve

Thank you for the small things.

For earnings, for caring friends,

For a heart that doesn’t break when it’s bent

Thank you for love; however, small it was,

For those who hurt me,

So I knew then, what forgiveness was.

*****

Lord, oh for the small things,

That kindness could be formed in me,

To kill the badness, the jealousy

Thank you for keeping him safe,

For him not being my guy,

Though I pray for him still,

You keep him secure, alive —

I pray you give him faith

And draw us both close to you.

*****

Thank you my almost love,

Is not in the big picture.

I hope he sees his wealth,

His privilege comes,

Not only with acts of goodness

But faith in God, in Jesus —

From his heart

If I see him again —

Help me to not turn away but to repair

So much is your power,

You could change a man’s mind.

Help him see he is lost in the law,

He needs your grace to believe

*****

Thank you Lord, for the small things,

My family, my friends, those I detest.

My lost pets, my forgotten foes.

Every man I felt something special for,

For the ones who hurt me deep and cut in;

I didn’t bleed out and die inside.

I moved on, survived

I’m doing okay.

*****

Thank you I was born in this day and age

Not one-hundred something years ago or more.

For medical advances, social programs,

And people more understanding,

At least I hope

Thank you that one day, I’ll see you face to face,
Thank you Lord, for the small things,

For to me they’re very big.

My prayer I give and keep in my heart

For your omniscient presence,

For your healing,

Oh Lord, I ask and give thanks.

Poem: Free Verse – “A Congested Mind” #poetry #amwriting

http://www.pinterest.com

——–

They call it the unknown

The future lying before you.

No matter if you’re psychic,

No one knows what happens.

There are varied scenarios,

Ways it could play out,

But truly we don’t know the future

It’s a mystery creeping forward,

And it pulls us along on our knees.

Whether we go willingly,

Or go kicking and screaming;

Time marches in to the beat,

Of father time’s own drum.

****

I don’t know what’s coming,

I know worrying won’t help.

I think sometimes I try to give advice,

Reassuring myself in kind.

There are bright possibilities,

Hoping people become,

More kind than they are mean to each other.

Pray people look-out for each other,

But sometimes I think society is self-centred.

I admit to such fault and others too,

But I’m still fearful;

When I think of a year or two ahead,

I’m afraid what if it’s not the right plan?

Experience deftly taught me,

Plans are dim outlines of reality.

Mostly, life goes where it goes

And God only knows where or why.

Leading us through dark valleys,

Into trenches with piercing bullets flying.

Into classrooms with screaming kids,

A gunmen on the loose.

He leads us through to people,

Whose power makes one nervous.

How even democracy isn’t safe —

A tyrant could rule all.

Maybe the world will surprise me,

But I fear for the little person.

*****

My own personal fears weigh heavy,

Though others bear pains greater.

Of lawyers and cases,

Of corruption and crime.

Those crimes we deem terrible;

Those crimes brushed under the rug.

Greed and all those other sins,

Abhorred but freely ignored.

Though I can never say what’s worse —

My own flaws or imperfections

Or those I’m faced with.

Stress shows through cracks,

Egg yokes running.

No one likes raw eggs except in cookie dough

The future is overwhelming.

But at least they’ll still be cookie dough,

And I don’t know why —

I’m particular and observant

Why I know it’s better to be alone

Than be truly alone with another.

Why I wait for that spark

Why I wait for the morning dawn.

A smile in his eyes which is genuine

Wherever he is.

But maybe happiness is a puppy

Paws following me on the hardwood,

Barks at random sounds.

The glory of a puppy skidding down —

The off leash trail and wheeling;

Turning around to jump on me,

To pick her up when she’s tired.

*****

My bones are stiff and ridged

My dreams fall to despair

So many books and writers,

And not anyone can compare

How to rise above the masses,

Or fill your own niche contented.

But perhaps one could be something

Success in small moments.
Afraid and weighted

Need to cry, tears unshed,

Because disease is cruel.
Even if Heaven is the end of the tunnel,

So many words are left unsaid

The timing of it all, does it work?

I feel alienated

Though I try hard to keep the connection

It’s all in your planning Lord;

So must I say, your will be done.

Today’s song prompt is “Hunger Of The Pine” by alt-J.

Hungry trees,

Flesh, bone,

Graves for —

Some.

Others,

Jump from

Branches; they

Fly, liberated.

Words echoing,

Clench heart,

Safe keeping,

Locked.

Hungry,

Thieves, conspiring,

Evil found,

Hold me.

—-

Spirits flying,

Running, screaming,

Terror finds,

Us.

Hurdling,

Uniting bodies,

Pillows absorbed,

Warmth’s lack.

—-

Hungry pines,

Needles deadly,

Grabbing greedily,

Wanting.

This,

Connection stubborn,

Maddening laughter,

Protecting me.

Pine’s hungry,

We’re quicker,
Sliding sagely,

Loving.

Deeper,

You’ll find,

Us bends,

Your mind.

November Notes: Poem -Day 24 – Italian Sonnet – “The Blame”

This days song prompt is “Buses and Trains” by Bachelor Girls.

“Buses and Trains” – Bachelor Girls

woman-hiding
http://www.pinterest.com

Mom, you didn’t say, how cruel the world is,

I could blame you for it all, but I’m grown.

Teach me, I could’ve learned by your grace known.

Each day I’m run down by trains, it’s fun this–

Game; ears ringing from sound trains make hissing.

Or a bus in front of me is coming, near miss —

Only by seconds I’m safe, empty words moan.

Why do I being pulverized feel sewn

Together a quilt, with all pieces, its bliss.

How do I explain I needed guidance?

It hurts me, you decided, gave me up.

Without your words, boys became as chocolate,

Choosing the worst, failing being grown-up.

Addicted, inhaling them, drug sate.

You could’ve taught me better, it’s too late.
