———

Lady hawk,

Brilliant feathers flocked.

Climbing unfathomable —

Heights.

Swoops down low,

Prey cannot run.

Has no safe place.

Cannot see —

In pitch blackness,

Stars guiding,

Ignoring for —

Threats from above;

Cause anxiety,

To triple.

The solace —

Of illusions,

Never enough.

Lady hawk,

And her sins;

Indelible,

Cannot be erased.

We yearn for,

We think we’ve forgotten,

Fondness for crimes.

Evil inside us,

A lure;

Turning Rights,

To bitter Wrongs.

Though we think,

All people —

Have innate goodness;

Rather, I say —

Innately we —

Forever choose,

Crimes,

‘Neath delicious —

Sinful starry nights.

It’s only those,

Who pray

For alteration,

We choose to do,

Well for others —

Where goodness,

Can be found.

Not only self-serving,

Serving others,

Above all else,

Not afraid,

To aid,

Though we’ve,

Forever been,

Put out,

Into the night,

Mice running,

From Lady Hawk,

For goodnesses’ —

Freely done.

Spring collection first shown, standout trends captivate.

Pretty pink dresses, bandeau tops [are] proposed by influential,

Femininity, classic ladylike variety reflected, underlying desire.

Creative support for the power and rights [of women],

At a critical moment, clothes mirror complexity and chaos.

[A] new creative pointed statement, paying tribute,

[Reminding us] attend the collection, printed with a line —

[It] leans [to] the left, favor[ing us] suffragettes.

Explicit in making politics known, a reaction to unsettling results,

[Women and] fashion imagined entering a [new] season,

Clothing playing [an] unexpected role, [our] viewpoints, [what] the world wears —

Becomes a political act.

Interpretation, construeing message of inclusion,

[There’s an] intention to celebrate women,

We can all agree, [we need] be attentive and open to the world, to our creativity

[It] reflects our desiresembracing the imagery of strong,

[What we wear is a] universal language women embrace.

[Your] engagement [demonstrates] how perceptions can change,

Judged the same, we don’t assume shallow or [too] serious.

Imagine in the coming years [unyielding] support, consider —

A contrary affect; [our] standards represent [our] enormous role.

Perceive beauty’s responsibility taken seriously,

Heartening to see interest in lives, so moved [knowing] —

We’re more and [moving forward with all] pioneering women,

We’re not [merely] roses.

Poem: Shadorma – “Woman War Not Alone” #amwriting #poetry #women

Such times as,

The ones she lived through.

She conformed,

Wanted More.

Saw how hurt perpetuates;

Never healing whole.

—-

Self-harm, self-

Hate common;  inside –

She is hurting,

Inner pain.

Gossip and judgement used.

She never thought to —

—–

End the pain

Close hateful doors tight.

Lock malice,

Outside her.

An unforgiving night, reminds —

Her, fight gently.

—–

Keep working;
Her inner battle.
It’s as old,

As the earth.

Woman who fight for,

Equality.

—–

A dream,

She thinks having both,

Pax, and rest.

She is wise,

For seeing tomorrow’s pain;

Unburdens those lame.

——-

Light in the,

Darkness, shines, provides —

Glimmer of,

Hope, assured —

Fighting, with her words and sword;

Hoping for happiness.

——

Good prevails.

Light’s glow permanent.

Good’s older.

She drinks wine;

Thinking of mornings, sunrise —

Reminds her she’s loved.

—–

Leaves on tree,

Dusting her path yet,

Leaves mark the —

Passing of,

Seasons; on each she shines light,

Earth keeps turning while —

—–

She worries,

Weeping in bad times,

She doesn’t

Forget what,

Was fought for at heavy cost,

She lives; others fought —

——

For her now.

Because in their time,

They had few —

Rights at all.

Doing wife’s duty despite,

Desire for freedom — rights.

——

She looks for,

Light in the tunnel,

At the end–

Of the war.

She fights not alone; she holds —

Strength in her faith, bold.

——

For her God,

Never forgets her,

Woman so —

Precious; God–

Created Man and her, equals —

Partners; she’s not less.

——-

Complement,

She smiles because she —

Knows inner —

Completeness.

Remembers God’s son best knows,

Inequality.

Story Continuation Prompt: Flash Fiction – Escaping the Colony

Thank you to Wandering Soul who hosts this challenge. This week we are to write a story up to 500 words about the future. The beginning sentence is:

Hundreds of drones zoomed ahead in the empty field, buzzing loudly like bees swarming over a honeycomb.

——-

———

Hundreds of drones zoomed ahead in the empty field, buzzing loudly like bees swarming over a honeycomb. The buzzing annoyed Jess and his ears hurt from hearing it.

Jess and Morgan had been hiding in the field, afraid the drones would harm them, especially, in daylight.

The government deployed thousands of drones and used them to report on people’s activities. A person never knew if they were safe, or if their actions would be deemed breaking the law.

Those in leadership grossly abused their power. The average person tried their best to make it through the day without being told to report for questioning to the enforcement officers.

Usually, the person who was being grilled, had no idea what they were being accused of or why. People did not have the right to an attorney. There was no actual judges or juries.

As Jess and Morgan watched the drones in the field, night fell and it was time to move. There was talk in the streets, of colonies with democratic governments, a fair judicial system, and even rights and jobs for their citizens. But the two men had to break through the colonies fence first.

Jess and Morgan were ran through the field as quick as they could. The drones saw them and began to buzz around them. “Th-there going to get us before we ev-even reach the fence,” Morgan sputtered in terror.

“No, we’ll be fine.” Jess said breathing heavily where they hid. “They haven’t reported us or shot at us. They’re not government.”

Both men ran and the drones suddenly started shooting, not at Jess and Morgan but at the fence. They cleared a pathway for them into the countryside.

After a days walk, Jess and Morgan with the drones following, came to a colossal walled in colony. They didn’t know if this state was a democractic or another totalitarian state.

Large stone gates opened wide at a drones beep and Jess and Morgan walked inside the colony entrance. The drones beeped to the guards who nodded and smiled at Jess and Morgan as they entered the new colony.

Looking ahead of them Jess and Morgan were shocked to see a normal city with houses, a theatre, grocery stores, skyscrapers, and other buildings.Where they came from the colony was a war zone.

A blue drone spoke to them, “We’re happy to have you in our city. Our colony wages war on your home colony and its dictatorial leaders. We try to free as many civilians as possible, from your government’s abuse.”

“Peace and democracy will reign when we win the war against your leaders and we’re close to defeating them. For now be at peace in our colony. You’ve rights and freedoms here.”

What the drone said fulfilled both Jess and Morgan’s dreams.

Writing 101 – Freedom – “Sacrifice”

Many people would react viciously if you told them they weren’t free. It’s a fundamental of democracy that every man and woman of every human race, justly has a right to liberty.

We take it for granted and we do not think, what it would be like to be locked up — to be bound with chains of tyranny, literal or figuratively; freedom is never free.

But freedom is a difficult ideal. People in society should be able to decide on their actions and make their own choices.

And  people should decide who should govern them, what laws and rules limit people from ruining another’s human rights (liberties).

When you say “freedom,” people actually think it is free; they stop and forget that people fought and died in wars so we could enjoy the right to liberty today. People long for freedom in places under lock and key.

We forget that freedom isn’t about only  our own freedom but the liberty of our neighbours and community members too.

We forget that since we are free to educate ourselves , and be educated, we should strive to be knowledgable; we should make informed choices.

For example, a liberty to bear arms — guns — is secondary to how available you make them and for whom. If you truly want to have a gun to defend your house, then you will jump through hoops so your rights do not infringe on other people’s rights to live.

You will follow all the steps the law says you need to do to have a gun even though they are aggravating, because you want your children safe at school and you want your friends and family safe at work, or at a shopping mall.

In the subject of freedom we are negligent (because we have had it so long without are world falling to chaos) because it is only free if you limit it.

You must say you are free to do ‘this’ but not ‘that’ because you are infringing on the freedom of other people.

For this reason, where I live: we eliminated smoking in bars and public places. Because people have a right to breath clean air and not be subjected to second hand smoke which can cause cancer.

If you smoke you are free to do so but not if it is going to affect my liberty to breathe, too not be allergic to the air.

You can do it in certain areas where there are places to put out your cigarettes, or in your own home if your certain you must.

And you can wear a head set while driving a vehicle, instead of driving one-handed. You can tell your phone ” Siri, text Allison and tell her I’m going for a beer after work, ” instead of removing your eyes from the road and using your fingers to text.

And now we are losing demerits for distracted driving. No putting on mascara or lipstick while you are driving. No looking for something you can’t find or eating a burger either. It’s harsh, but people are dying.

You are infringing on people’s saftey when you drive distractedly. You think you are free to drive how you like, but an old lady thinks she is free and safe to walk across the road while you search your phone, your  eyes not on the road.

Not every one follows law and order, the price of freedom, of our liberty. It’s the purpose of jail. Why we spend so much on prisons, why in some countries people are sentenced to die; are we truly free to say someone’s life should be forfeit?

People change. That doesn’t make up for the pain of the victims or their families or the crime. But the fact that people can educate themselves, find God, show remorse, and better themselves makes me think it is better to let God decide who lives and dies.

He is after all the ultimate judge and executioner. The freedom to give and take life as you please, that scares me. It is something that happens in places with no freedom. In places where people are suffering and dying needlessly.

And because people don’t follow laws here, they act to protect their freedom and they sue each other, and do awful and thoughtless things.

And some companies can be pretty corporate at the bottom line when it comes to thinking of the individual employee’s liberties.

What freedom, do the mentally ill have? When the common person knows so little about mental illness, to help them. When people don’t understand them or make an effort to. What about freedom of acceptance?

What about freedom of speech? Does it change your view of the person talking normally if you know he is bipolar? Or if he does is job year after year but has a bit of break down. Or if he is an alcoholic or a crime victim.

And what of the freedom to live, we can take this two ways. Should you have the freedom to healthcare you can’t afford? Isn’t a human life worth it? What if your health plan doesn’t cover a new medical procedure?

But Doctors need to be paid and new ones trained. There are nurses and interns and the people from the lab. What about their right to make a living? Does it out – weigh your right to live? Haven’t we decided that we shouldn’t be choosing who lives and who dies?

But it changes up a little when you are dying and nothing can save you. When you are in horrific pain because of a physical disease. Think of ALS and Tuesday’s with Morrie or cancer in your bones or in your blood.

Miracles can happen. But if you are the one choosing and it is your life, shouldn’t you have access to drugs, or some humane way to die. To not leave this life so torn apart that everyday is an agony and pain is a mantra.

I don’t know what I’d do but I think I might like to go out with a little of me left in me. I don’t want to be a person with no freedom because she is forced to live and suffer. A person who had no freedom because disease stole it from her.

I think the concept of freedom is quite deceptive. Initially, it appears harmless but when you dig deeper you see that it has teeth, a tale, and Jurassic World T-Rex hybrid eyes and teeth.

Liberty, is a hugely complex subject. It seems so simple when we’re only dying for it. But to uphold a society of freedom, means not everbody is completely free. There is give and take.

And I found that as I write, I keep becoming caught up in liberty of life. In society and their reactions in time near death, for abortions, in prisons, as you go about your day — who decides who lives and dies.

That is a freedom I think humans shouldn’t have. But we make the decisions anyways, because we have free will; sometimes, I don’t like liberty at all.

At times it’s easier to have “someone”make the decision. But that is how dictatorships start, when we stop deciding.

Here we are, the biggest problem with freedom — we must choose what freedom is, and what we will give up to be free.

Writing 101: Day 20 – The End (A Poem)

Prompt: Wrap it all up.

The end has come. Fairwell for now. It’s time to go out on your own now.

Though you’ll be back to learn some more. For now, we say Adieu and Ciao.

You are changed since you first began, with everyday you grew.

And now you return to where you started; your journey has come full circle.

You are stronger after what you’ve been through, and writing everyday you became a mouth piece.

You scribbled and wrote, took. pictures, and typed until your fingers were sore.

This writing journey has not ended, you’ve just touched on a prologue.

Once the ember is ignited you can’t shut out the light.

Light defies darkness, it comes in out worst times to shut out the terrifying pitch black.

Don’t be afraid; your terrors and woes, your happiest times, fretful moments, and memories of all kinds — they will build your power.

One should not often wield a sword in this world, so let us wield a pen and write the rights and wrongs, the haves and have nots.

Let us write of every topic, of every feeling, of the pieces of a broken heart, and hearts sealed with a silver kiss.

But we are done. Fini. Don’t you know that you have a choice; a decision on whether you can do this unaided.

You have the skills to let words fly; to inspire and grow until words form a language that speaks to the entirety.

No word was ever wasted. Edited, but it existed for a reason. You’ll revise endlessly.

And finish with a matter of letting memories collide; as thoughts that you have completed one small journey provide you with satisfaction sublime.

Sunday Photo Fiction – The Right to Choose

Renee leaned against the wall outside the back of Olive Garden next to her parked Honda wading in multicoloured leaves. Keith leaned next to her his thumb stroking her cheek imploringly as he brushed kisses against her forehead.

Renee didn’t know Keith that well but she liked him. She found him extremely attractive and liked his extroverted personality. He had told so many hilarious stories over a tasty dinner that she found herself addicted to his charm.

But issues evolved after dinner as Keith tried to convince Renee to come home to bed with him.

” I really want you Renee. You’re so beautiful and we get along so good. You’re sexy and we could have so much fun together in bed. Come home with me. . . ” Keith implored Renee.

” It’s just that I don’t really know you that well, ” said Renee.

“You will know me,” grinned Keith.

Renee was not a prude but she liked to take the time to get to know a guy and for him to know her. She needed to be able to trust them, that they weren’t going to not call back or talk to her again after she slept with them. She debated going home with Keith. But was she giving up her right to choose if she did? Would she be called a slut, called easy if she did. Would she see  Keith again if she said no?

The leaves continued to blow and the couple stood together both fighting for what they wanted.
