Music Prompt: Poem – Italian Sonnet – “Elysian Fields Await” #amwriting #poetry #musicchallenge #writing

This is last week’s music prompt for Friday hosted by MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie. It’s a song called, “Elysian Night” by Draconian. Hard metal isn’t my thing, but the lyrics are beautiful.

——-

Am I nothing without you near my side?

You feel so far away; I reach for you,

Only whispers remain, piercing though true.

I’m bleeding fast, death has no ounce of pride.

“Stay,” you beg, it’s a wish I can’t provide.

But the sun rises as it always does through —

Whatever pain inflicted, we’ve small clue —

When it’s time — Elysian Fields reside.

You want me to stay, for us to fly high,

But death has been calling, counting sand grains,

You’ll cry those fat tears, and you’ll wonder why?

Love, I want to see another sunrise,

But I’m bleeding, death’s crooning, we must divide,

Elysian Fields wait with finally, no pain.

Photo Prompt: Poetry – Shakespearean Sonnet – “A Stage”

Thank you to Mind Loves Misery’s Menagerie for this weeks photo prompt:

Unknown

——-

The whole world is our stage, the bard, Shakespeare —

In As You Like It, wrote: we‘re all acting.

Our flaws from our image perceived, not clear.

Perform each day, we say words not exact.

——-

Our fear, our doubt; such lonileness confides,

All our truths to another’s sad eyes,

On rocks we stumble, we cannot stay; reside.

We could beg for help but we act, more lies.

——

Curtains about to part, they hide stage fright,

White billowing clouds, pulled by ropes they show,

Each person performing their role, their life.

Hoping they bloom, become more then this –grow.

——

The world’s a stage, what wisdom to impart,

We’re merely players, to soon to depart.

Poem: Petrarchen (Italian) Sonnet – “Pirate Treasure Lost” #amwriting #poetry #sonnet

Elzabeth Swann : Pirates of The Caribbean – Keira Knightly (en.wikipedia.org)

————

There’s a map, in whose treasures know not I.
No ruby, emeralds, or Dabloons reside.
There’s no treaty by which I’m bound to abide.

Hidden crowns gold, dripping silver so alive.

The pirate in me razes, rum drinking by slides,

Statues of marble from the crypt I hide.

Burying paintings, my beloved Renoir’s,

X Marks the spot where all treasure confides.

——-

But I’ll not tell you it’s value hid deep.

Presence lost in jungle, where spiders creep,

Deadly venom, no cure can fight, to speak.

The map survives, a tattoo inked in sleep,

Adventure awaits, your life to beseech.

Trespassers beware; in quicksand you’ll weep.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Tritina – “Valley Beach”

img_1070-1

Our (optional) prompt for Day Seven comes to us from Gloria Gonsalves, who challenges us all to write a tritina. The tritina is a shorter cousin to the sestina, involving three, three-line stanzas, and a final concluding line. Three “end words” are used to conclude the lines of each stanza, in a set pattern of ABC, CAB, BCA, and all three end words appear together in the final line.

Please see NaPoWriMo for more information. Also, I am doing The Daily Prompt word prompt, using the word Tricky.

Wind blowing in the valley where we always go,

Where serenity arrives with the oceanic tide,

Grass fragrant, rustles in the valley we reside,

—-

Running through grass, escape life to ocean reside,

Valley’s hush, mystical, tricky path where we go,

On the beach, sand softens feet, running through the tide,

—–

Laying towels, white sand, resting here, hear the tide,

Walking home, grass flicks our calves, back home we reside.

In tomorrow’s heat, to the valley we’ll go.

—–

Tricky tides pull, in the valley we reside — go.

Hi, just wanted to leave a little note to those whose posts I usually comment on, and those bloggers who follow me. I’m taking a break from blogging this week, most everything but completing the posts I need to. I might comment on the odd post, but for most posts I will get to on the weekend or next week 🙂 Thanks for understanding!

Look,

Wide eyes,

See the glare,

Mesmerized,

Sea salt tastes  — warm air,

What’s  forbidden, hidden,

And thoughts consume illusion.

Enter wide-eyed into the valley reside,

All you envisage in the storming,

Flames of falsehood overtakes all fathomed, burning.

—–

Chase the thought of memories, churning.

Life is bliss except when concern heeds,

Warning’s powerfully thrall.

Eyes with wisdom; embrace and see,

 Before judgement they follow,

Words the mind made hollow,

Significance points,

Persuaded now,

Of the fall.

Make this,

Right.
