——–

 Up to The Shire,

Rounded doors.

Tall ones warned,

Lintel’s short.

Beams are low,

Pantry’s full;

Bread, jam, wine.

Safe from intruders.

Into our Shire home,

Scrolled furniture,

Comfortable repose.

Sweetest resting place;

Don’t force us,

Come out.

Adventure’s dangerous;

But my blood,

Pulsed madly,

So I went.

From The Shire,

Then life,

I lived well.
