Part 2:

When Evangeline left home, she didn’t take a cent of the money she had earned playing piano at concerts.

To make a living she learned to play guitar and sing vocals with various bands at ‘hole in the wall’ clubs in L.A. What little money she had she used for voice lessons, rent, and food.  She increasingly wrote and sang her own songs.

At twenty-four, Evangeline auditioned for the popular reality TV show, “The Voice.” From the beginning, her talent blew the judges away and she eventually won first place. She called home and invited her mom to come see her final performance for the show.

 When Evangeline sat down in front of the grand piano her hands shook above the piano keys. She hadn’t played a piano in three years beyond practising in private for the finale show. She surprised everyone with her skillful piano playing and successful rendition of Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back.”

At the end of that night Evangeline hugged her mom. Every ounce of resentment and hate she felt for Ruth in the past had faded. She was also amused when she remembered the priceless expression on her mother’s face, hearing the lyrics to “Sexy Back.”

She was also grateful Ruth had pushed her and provided Evangeline a background as a performer. It gave her an edge as she was now able to pursue her musical talents true to her own choices.

I’m lying in the summer grass. Above me the sky appears as if the heavens are opening. Perhaps brilliant marshmallow clouds behold some greater being, a creator with vision and design? There has to be more to humanity than our randomness in the world. I think that we all have a place, a reason, a purpose. We aren’t accidental and are made specifically to be ‘us.’

It’s a relief the hot sun is blocked by the clouds but I can see the light peeking through as if the sky has provided me an inkling of celestial luminescence. But maybe the sky is only the sky and I’m personifying my beliefs and feelings? But then, maybe faith and the existence of God is demonstrated most superbly by the the earth, nature, and tiny glimpses of gloriousness seen lying in the grass.

Published: SickLit Magazine – It Began In An Elevator

I’m delighted to have a piece of short fiction published from a while ago. It’s called: It Began In An Elevator, written for the monthly theme of the same name. Please check my short story out in the link provided. I’m excited to have a piece of short fiction published. For me, fiction is much harder to write than poetry. Although, I love them both equally!

Poem: A L’Arora -“Wise King Solomon”

King Solomon
http://www.Ids.org

Knowledge King Solomon asked,

To rule with wisdom His Lord gave,

Over people “numerous as —

The dust of the earth;” to rule with —

God’s grace provided and for,

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Granted wealth, possessions, honor.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.

Solomon, blessed as no king here passed.

From King David’s line; His God saves.

Gifting Solomon with treasures as,

Chariot, precious metals with,

Best horses, chariot bred for.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Granted fame even, today for —

Praying for such knowledge,wisdom.

Building temple, His Lord, him tasked,

Timber from everywhere, many gave.

Silver and gold; gone as time has —

Drifted through the ages, left with —

Second Chronicles telling for —

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Asking right gifts, rewarded more.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.

Time passes; treasure hunters classed,

Finding Solomon`s treasure, braved.

But I believe they forget as —

Those who seek only wealth; lose with —

Elusive gems; not asking God more.

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom;

Ask as Solomon too asked God for,

Praying for such knowledge, wisdom.

Based Off Of The Holy Bible 2 Chronicles 1-2 and probably beyond (NIV).
