Lady Gaga – “Angel Down”

—–

Angel down, oh, angel, people stood around

Wishing we could just be loving, grateful.

Courage disappears bullets they surround.

I believe we can be much less hateful,

Learn wisdom, use our hearts and realize;

Shots were fired, move provide help, safety.

But life’s a trial, some of us don’t recognize,

We’re blessed, stop being fools who are acting weak,

Aid the angels falling, be cognizant

Don’t you know we’re all facing the bleakness?

Our only shelter, in arms of God sacred,

Shots were fired, down the street where we’d once meet.

Where are our leaders, elected but graceless?

People gawk and stand around being useless,

Terror overcoming until we’re faceless.

Save an angel despite being clueless,

Wishing we could just be loving, grateful,

I wish we’d all do something, not be ruthless

I confess I’m lost, I’ll still try to connect,

I’ll care for humanity as I’ve respect.

Angel down, oh, angel, people stood around.

Courage disappears, bullets they surround.

Many faces have I, but don’t let me evaporate.

Too many masks I wear within to cover the scars that bind,

The twisting vines of ruined skin,

Not even plastic surgery could heal.

And the whispers of the dreadful night,

They haunt me in my sleep.

Each nightmare worse than the last, entrenching me in madness.

Crying and shaking, in a world I cannot escape.

My screams echoeing from the domed ceiling,

In St. Peter’s Basilica, my heart a kindled pyre.

Does God hear me, my fervent prayers without pride?

I know if He did, he would answer what I seek,

Provide relief from the cruelty of my suffering;

Of the ache and the burn in my skin.

He’d be a cooling gentle wind to end the burning flames,

I hope in my meekness for God as Elijah knew.

I try to forget. to move on, hiding behind masks so I’m safe.

My scars are not physical but they hide beneath skin,

Where plastic surgery cannot salvage a broken soul.

I’m a wretched bloody mess and my stomach is churning,

Why are the worst injuries, the ones you cannot see?

Why do people only see skin deep?

Not many will peer beneath the perfect layers of white ivory,

To see the layers underneath charred and scorched.

Many will not look past the words on your lips,

They are not interested in how a person says certain words,

Or why they say what do.

Many people hear only what they want to hear,

And if you choose to scream,

Than you’re the crazy one seeking attention.

But many screams are silent,

Before they are ever heard out loud,

This is why we need listeners and those with empathy,

To overcome those overflowing with ignorance and apathy to life;

To realize there is meaning in helping your neighbor out.

For we all have hidden scars and screams,

And most of them are dug deeply within our souls.

They wind around a person’s heart, a choking vine envokes —

A cry for help, so please hear it, long before we shout out loud,

Be still for a moment and listen well.

Respond before the masks hide many other faces and mine;

Act before you start cutting into our hearts,

Doing much more harm than good.

Watch your words and carefully avoid —

Assault and battery, for refusing to help those in need —

Refusing to help those lost in their pain.

Heal with laughter and conversation,

A piece of your precious time.

Do not forget the meek and lowly,

We all need help discovering pathways into stardust.

Tale Weavers: Poem – Wrapped Refrain – “On Resolutions” #amwriting #poetry #taleweavers

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerieor hosting last week’s Tale Weaver’s prompt on a story of keeping/making resolutions in the New Year.

It’s difficult, keeping going in —

The face of rejection given.

I’ve learnt be fortified; than —

My cave won’t fall in strengthened

I’ve succeeded at some tries, failed at many others, found,

Resolution; one must, keep pushing all boundaries.

—–

So, what do we resolve, anything new

We continually have goals in view.

Hoping we’ll achieve something great.

Or make it through each day, not wait —

Wondering if the grass is greener, if inspiration

Can take flight, provide meaning, when we require.

—–

Do we lose weight, eat less sugar?

Walk more, live our lives with vigor?

Do we spend time with loved ones,

Knowing we’re here, short while for some.

Do we travel somewhere far away or give home —

To pets from the shelter? Strangers who are unknown
—–

We can resolve, try much harder,

Do better, be specific, guard —

Ourselves, take baby steps to —

Goals we want achieved through,

A change in habit, will it happen or will we —

As every year, change only when life forces free —

—–

What we truly need to change and be,

Beyond ourselves, have self-belief,

We will actually take a step, glean —

Some knowledge from the year, lean

Far from our own circles to celestial dreamscapes

It’s difficult to be grounded; worse to not create

Gathering with,

Our families a bond,

There, despite —

The distance.

Sharing our lives together

Meeting, laughing, joy.

—-

Siblings,

Connecting; though years —

In childhood,

Have passed by.

Fiances, partners, meeting —

New loved ones enfold.

—-

Families,

They grow and alter.

Babies too,

Added and —

Some family sadly they pass,

Onto their forever home.

And on the —

New Year, we gather,

Again to —

Ring in a —

Better year, with promise; hope,

Less pain, more grace known.

—–

So I pray,

For all of you, when —

You pour the —

Champagne and —

Kiss your most beloved one,

Think too, of suffering

Those whose holidays,

Have less cheer, are hard

Those who fight

Have trials

Those without home, wealth, and —

Know not where food comes.

—–

For those who,

Are trying to feed,

Little mouths.

They go with —

Out; but they need energy,

To work, to provide.

—-

For those who’ve,

Demons inside, they can’t —

Struggle more,

And survive.

For those who don’t know there’s hope

Think and aid them all.

—-

Help comes in,

Many ways; talking,

Mere words which,

Keep the edge,

Far away; give friendship, gifts —

Something showing thought.
—-

You can help,

Volunteer to kids,

Charity,

Read with them.

You can do many thoughtful

Things; don’t forget.

—-

For those snug,

At home and gifted to know,

Warmth and love.

Abundantly

Blessed; may we keep the —

Season in our hearts.

Music Prompt: Poem – Italian Sonnet – “Elysian Fields Await” #amwriting #poetry #musicchallenge #writing

This is last week’s music prompt for Friday hosted by MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie. It’s a song called, “Elysian Night” by Draconian. Hard metal isn’t my thing, but the lyrics are beautiful.

Am I nothing without you near my side?

You feel so far away; I reach for you,

Only whispers remain, piercing though true.

I’m bleeding fast, death has no ounce of pride.

“Stay,” you beg, it’s a wish I can’t provide.

But the sun rises as it always does through —

Whatever pain inflicted, we’ve small clue —

When it’s time — Elysian Fields reside.

You want me to stay, for us to fly high,

But death has been calling, counting sand grains,

You’ll cry those fat tears, and you’ll wonder why?

Love, I want to see another sunrise,

But I’m bleeding, death’s crooning, we must divide,

Elysian Fields wait with finally, no pain.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 26 – Lento – “Don’t Abandon Them”

Prompt Day 26: Abandonment:

“What does abandonment mean to you? I deal with abandonment issues all the time. However, there are ways to view this word in a positive way.”

Justification, they aren’t one of us;

Illustration, cold abandonment.

Illumination, we’re one –so be just;

Inspiration, we’re at heart as them.

Transformation, provide helping hand.

Desperation, suffering is mad.

Divination, we don’t know future.

Desperation, many abandoned.

Consideration for people in life,

Participation, together win fight.

Illumination, truths revealed about strife.

Justification, nothing about it right.

Diversification, different skills aid.

Inspiration, create solution.

Mystification, make it more clear.

Inspiration: restitution.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Shakespearen Sonnet – “Guiding Each Other “

And finally, our prompt (optional, as always). Today, I challenge you to write a sonnet. Traditionally, sonnets are 14-line poems, with ten syllables per line, written in iambs (i.e., with a meter in which an unstressed syllable is followed by one stressed syllable, and so on). There are several traditional rhyme schemes, including the Petrarchan, Spenserian, and Shakespearean sonnets. But beyond the strictures of form, sonnets usually pose a question of a sort, explore the ideas raised by the question, and then come to a conclusion. In a way, they are essays written in verse! This means you can write a “sonnet” that doesn’t have meet all of the traditional formal elements, but still functions as a mini-essay of a sort. The main point is to keep your poem tight, not rangy, and to use the shorter confines of the form to fuel the poem’s energy. As Wordsworth put it, in a very formal sonnet indeed, “Nuns fret not at their convent’s narrow room.” Happy writing!

Please see the website for NaPoWriMo for more information. Rhyme scheme is abab, cdcd, efef, gg.

Why do we forge ahead in life, no thought,

For others in our path, hindrance to steps,

Walking on people, won’t provide what’s sought.

Pick-up the down trodden, those who have wept,

—–

Provide helping hands, pick other’s up, give —

Show undeserved grace, to the sufferring,

We were there once, desperate, needing to live.

Falling apart at the seems, blustering.

—–

We’re here to aid others as we journey,

Time ticking past until, our lives are over.

Assisting friends, before they’re lost, learning.

Life isn’t ‘us;’ let kindness spillover.

—–

Emerging fresh, considering our steps,

Aiding ourselves, others, placing footsteps.

Writing 101: Camaflouge – “Demon Within.”

If you look closely and try,

You may see things that are alive.

That hide behind the veil lifted;

Reveals a soul oh so dark ,

Utterly twisted at heart.

You may see things huge and torn,

A memory of childhood born,

And blood seeping through the core,

And not a place you want to live.

What unstable being lerks within,

When we see passed our own sin,

Seek forgiveness and find that,

A monster still lerks there in.

He hides with growls and much power;

He is the epic Grendle to slay,

Did Beowulf forget to prey,

A seething demon hiding,

Would never arise again and–

We can’t hide behind our horror.

We can’t decide we’re afflicted,

And let the demon in his —

Golden palace glitter sleep.

We must fight the monster hid,

Deep beneath our normal-self.

The part that no one can see,

The soul in a dark prison,

A prison of ebony.

What capricious darling,

Needs to be torn to pieces.

The light envades the darkest–

Places in our hearts and minds,

My soul wakes up to find that God,

Designed us a Camaflouge,

We should never hide from He

Who is every space and those —

 Hidden inbetween sight.

We are able to find within what–

Has hid and free ourselves from —

A captivity and find–

A dream of peacefulness,

Divine providence, focus.

Don’t let the darkness win the

War for your soul and fight it–

You are hidden away and–

Safe, once condemned but alive,

With the coming of the light,

Remove the shackles and clothes,

That hid the human within the

Walls of oppression and sin;

Of Camaflouge you have —

No need, go now, be at peace.
