#NaPoWriMo Day 18/ Photo Challenge: Poem – Nurado Sonnet – “Dearest Stay Near” with Apologies to Nurado’s “Don’t Go Far Off” #poetry #amwriting #photochallenge

For NaPoWriMo Day 18 the Prompt is: To “find a poem in a book or magazine (ideally one you are not familiar with). Use a piece of paper to cover over everything but the last line. Now write a line of your own that completes the thought of that single line you can see, or otherwise responds to it.Keep going, uncovering and writing, until you get to the first line of your source poem, which you will complete/respond to as the last line of your new poem.” Combining with NEKNEERAJ from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Photo Challenge.

“Dearest Stay Near”

Leave me not without your light, not ever,

The truth’s time stretches too far when you’re gone.

I will wait for your touch, your kiss, missing my —

Lips to meet yours, in the darkened airport.

Stay by my side, so close, as dusk’s fire dims black,

Let not my suffering grow, a mound burying.

Spirals of ash, the lost smoke that lingers,

Catching my breath, stealing my heart’s true rest.

Your presence in tides ‘neath Stars remain,

Your eyes bold lights fading not on far shores.

You, my complement, don’t wander far,

I reach for your hands, you’re gone with the dawn.

Each lands a labyrinth where you I seek still,

Leave me not here, to thirst and perish.

“Don’t Go Far Off” — Pablo Nurado

Leave me not without your light, not ever,

Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because —

The truth’s time stretches too far when you’re gone.

because — I don’t know how to say it: a day is long

I will wait for your touch, your kiss, missing my —

and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station

Lips to meet yours, in the darkened airport.

when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Stay by my side, so close, as dusk’s fire dims black,

Don’t leave me, even for an hour, because

Let not my suffering grow, a mound burying.

then the little drops of anguish will all run together,

Spirals of ash, the lost smoke that lingers,

the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift

Catching my breath, stealing my heart’s true rest.

into me, choking my lost heart.

Your presence in tides ‘neath Stars remain,

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;

Your eyes bold lights fading not on far shores

may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance

You, my complement, don’t wander far,

Don’t leave me for a second, my dearest,

I reach for your hands, you’re gone with the dawn.

because in that moment you’ll have gone so far

Each lands a labyrinth where you I seek still,

I’ll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,

Leave me not here, to thirst and perish.

Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

#OctPoWriMo Day 19/Sunday Writing: Poem – Italian Sonnet – “Comfort Spread” #poetry #amwriting

For OctPoWriMo Day 19 the theme is fox or foxy. Also, I’m doing the Scribbler’s Dip MindLoveMisery’sMenagerie Sunday Writing Prompt from Oct 8, 2017 based on the Pablo Nurado poem below:

——-

Sonnet XVI by Pablo Neruda

I love the handful of the earth you are.

Because of its meadows, vast as a planet,

I have no other star. You are my replica

of the multiplying universe

*****

Your wide eyes, are the only light I know

from extinguished constellations;

your skin throbs like the streak

of a meteor through rain.

*****

Your hips were that much of the moon for me;

your deep mouth and its delights, that much sun;

your heart, fiery with its long red rays,

*****

was that much ardent light, like honey in the shade.

So I pass across your burning form, kissing

you – compact and planetary, my dove, my globe.

*****

——

More than a handful of earth, but crystal,

Light bouncing off of facets, your meadows,

Vast greenery, teaming with life bestowed.

Complicated universe, love enthralled.

Your star, an ember of warmth never falls.

Such sanguine eyes, constellations fed,

Your skin downy white fox fur, comfort bred.

Our touch pulses, meteors involve —

Your mouth delights, your kisses warm invite;

Your hips as the moon’s silver spreading light.

Fiery hearts beat together in time,

Your honeyed lips the relief of shade.

Kissing burning skin, your planetary fire,

A hope for the night for tomorrows rhyme.
