I’m lying in the summer grass. Above me the sky appears as if the heavens are opening. Perhaps brilliant marshmallow clouds behold some greater being, a creator with vision and design? There has to be more to humanity than our randomness in the world. I think that we all have a place, a reason, a purpose. We aren’t accidental and are made specifically to be ‘us.’

It’s a relief the hot sun is blocked by the clouds but I can see the light peeking through as if the sky has provided me an inkling of celestial luminescence. But maybe the sky is only the sky and I’m personifying my beliefs and feelings? But then, maybe faith and the existence of God is demonstrated most superbly by the the earth, nature, and tiny glimpses of gloriousness seen lying in the grass.

——-

Stuck fast in this ice, no relief,

Car pushed off he highway it’s —

Dark, cold

——-

We’re lucky we’re uninjured that,

We’ve signals on our smart phones; night

Descends.

——-

There’s no gas left in the tank from,

Starting, then turning off the heat

Stars bleed

——

Giant glimmering balls, twinkle,

Outside our windows; but we’re still —

Stuck here.

——-

We called the AMA, come find —

Us because we’re frozen; minus

Forty

——-

Nighttime is bitter, freezing we’re,

Huddled beneath silver blankets,

Wondering.

——-

Then he starts shaking, lips so blue

Then he’s still; hypothermia

Induced.

*****

But the sun is rising now; we’ve —

Made it through the dark; my friend he —

Yet sleeps.

——

Hearing voices outside our car,

Come to save us now, opening —

Our doors.

——

Light leaks in, such needed warmth; I —

feel my hands, shaking you awake,

You blink

When Mark and Pat renovated their [home,] they discovered an old bicycle hidden under the [back deck].

“I wonder how long it’s been down here?” Mark said removing the bike from the remains of the deck. He washed off the grime, finding a cheery red bicycle beneath.

He was sure the bicycle would ride well once he oiled the chain and made a few repairs. He had spare bicycle parts somewhere in his garage.

When he tipped the bike over he found a small pouch hidden under the bike seat. Opening the bag, Mark removed a picture of a brilliant red head.

“Come see Pat,” Mark called to his wife. Pat came running, although, her husband was annoying her.

” It’s a photograph of modern art, Mark. The colours are vivid and the style of the woman’s dress is recent. Where did you find it?”

“In this pouch, underneath the bicycle seat. How can that be?”

Instantly, the clean red bicycle began to glimmer. A portal opened up and the bicycle disappeared into the vortex, the photograph soon to follow.

Mark and Pat were speechless.
