He’s hot. Go join him.” Jacklyn filled Yasmin’s coffee.

“Sam’s weird. He keeps perfect running pace behind me at the park. Even worse, he comes in here for coffee.”

Yasmin pulled her sleeves over her hands. “He makes me skittish.”

“Talk to him.”

“I’m scared to, I think.” Yasmin adjusted her ponytail as Sam ambled to the front counter. He paid for one of Jacklyn’s gourmet Cinnamon buns. He caught Yasmin’s eye and winked.

Jacklyn’s eyebrows raised. “He was ogling you. That’s why he’s been running behind you. Oh, and he’s always had his morning coffee here.”

Yasmin peered at Sam. He smirked, inclining his head. “What’s so good about him?”

Jacklyn winked. “He tells me he loves my buns.”

Yasmin smirked. “Oh, yeah? He rubs ‘me’ the wrong way.”

“You’re thinking about him rubbing you?”

Yasmin rolled her eyes.

Jacklyn sighed. “Sam doesn’t have a creepy bone in his body, and he’s intriguing and well built; you have to admit that. It must be those long runs chasing you.”

“He asked Robbie about you. Sam sees you every day and thought you’d be more comfortable with him by now.” Jacklyn prodded.

Yasmin squeezed her fists tight, her breath rapid.

Jacklyn kneeled. “What’s wrong? Sam’s not trying to hurt you. Why does he make you so anxious?” She clasped Yasmine’s hand. “Robbie said that sometimes women have a good reason for reacting how you do. He’s a retired cop.”

Yasmin froze. Fractions of memories flashed through her mind. “There was someone. I didn’t expect it; he came from behind.”

“Do you mean?” Yasmin nodded, and Jacklyn wiped at a tear. “I’m sorry. Have you talked to anyone?”

“I have, and I’m okay. Robbie’s right. Sam’s brings back bad memories.” Yasmin chewed her bottom lip. The tang of blood made her halt. “I was walking home when the other guy attacked. Sam looks nothing like him. But, he makes me nervous, both in a good and bad way.”

“Maybe, you should chat with Sam? If only to see he’s harmless? Robbie says he wants to get to know you. He knows Sam because they play Rugby league together, and ge’d kill him twice if he hurt you.” Jacklyn squeezed Yasmine’s hands. She moseyed behind the front counter to help a harried barista.

Yasmin stood and stretched, she tossed her ponytail. Sam’s glinting eyes remained glued to hers. She sat across from him.

“Hi, I’m Yasmin.” She quivered and her pulse soared.

“This will get us there, you’re sure?” Avery asked the Captain. Her hands shook and sweat beaded on her forehead.

” Yes Madam, as I’ve told the other passengers, who are equally as persistent, this will take us to the first step.”

“The Stairway to Heaven? I can’t believe it. It’s for real, isn’t it?”

“Well, Madam Avery, that’s what you paid all your money for. This is the only ship that can take you there. We’ll arrive shortly. Ask a flight attendant to give you some pills to calm you down. Soon, you’ll never need medicine again.”

“But, what’s at the top of the Stairway? Streets filled with glittering gold? No more crying and no more pain?”

“When we’re there you’ll know. Have faith, Madam.”

Avery looking pale and feeling dehydrated suddenly fainted. The whole idea of reaching Heaven by space ship seemed unimaginable.

When she woke up she was lying on a soft bed. There was a gate formed of pure gold and silver. Two regal guards stood nearby.

“You there, both of you, where is this? I was supposed to be in Heaven I paid a great deal of money to get there, ” Avery said.

The guards chuckled, “Madam Avery, don’t you know the Stairway and Heaven itself cannot be bought by humans.”

“But what am I doing here?”

“Quiet now. You’re in processing, they’re trying to decide about you,” one guard said.

“Decide what?”

“If somewhere deep inside you know Heaven was purchased for you long ago. If you know who bought it,” the second guard replied.

Avery stomped her foot, “I deserve what’s coming to me.”

The first guard shook his heads,” Wherever you end up, Madam Avery, you can be sure of that.”

They call it the unknown

The future lying before you.

No matter if you’re psychic,

No one knows what happens.

There are varied scenarios,

Ways it could play out,

But truly we don’t know the future

It’s a mystery creeping forward,

And it pulls us along on our knees.

Whether we go willingly,

Or go kicking and screaming;

Time marches in to the beat,

Of father time’s own drum.

****

I don’t know what’s coming,

I know worrying won’t help.

I think sometimes I try to give advice,

Reassuring myself in kind.

There are bright possibilities,

Hoping people become,

More kind than they are mean to each other.

Pray people look-out for each other,

But sometimes I think society is self-centred.

I admit to such fault and others too,

But I’m still fearful;

When I think of a year or two ahead,

I’m afraid what if it’s not the right plan?

Experience deftly taught me,

Plans are dim outlines of reality.

Mostly, life goes where it goes

And God only knows where or why.

Leading us through dark valleys,

Into trenches with piercing bullets flying.

Into classrooms with screaming kids,

A gunmen on the loose.

He leads us through to people,

Whose power makes one nervous.

How even democracy isn’t safe —

A tyrant could rule all.

Maybe the world will surprise me,

But I fear for the little person.

*****

My own personal fears weigh heavy,

Though others bear pains greater.

Of lawyers and cases,

Of corruption and crime.

Those crimes we deem terrible;

Those crimes brushed under the rug.

Greed and all those other sins,

Abhorred but freely ignored.

Though I can never say what’s worse —

My own flaws or imperfections

Or those I’m faced with.

Stress shows through cracks,

Egg yokes running.

No one likes raw eggs except in cookie dough

The future is overwhelming.

But at least they’ll still be cookie dough,

And I don’t know why —

I’m particular and observant

Why I know it’s better to be alone

Than be truly alone with another.

Why I wait for that spark

Why I wait for the morning dawn.

A smile in his eyes which is genuine

Wherever he is.

But maybe happiness is a puppy

Paws following me on the hardwood,

Barks at random sounds.

The glory of a puppy skidding down —

The off leash trail and wheeling;

Turning around to jump on me,

To pick her up when she’s tired.

*****

My bones are stiff and ridged

My dreams fall to despair

So many books and writers,

And not anyone can compare

How to rise above the masses,

Or fill your own niche contented.

But perhaps one could be something

Success in small moments.
Afraid and weighted

Need to cry, tears unshed,

Because disease is cruel.
Even if Heaven is the end of the tunnel,

So many words are left unsaid

The timing of it all, does it work?

I feel alienated

Though I try hard to keep the connection

It’s all in your planning Lord;

So must I say, your will be done.

Three Line Tales: Before The Wedding #3LineTales #amwriting #fiction

Thank you to Sonya of Only 100 Words for hosting #3LineTales.

Ben Rosett

——

The future awaits as I stand behind the swing hesitating. It reminds me of when I was a small girl, riding the swing and pumping my legs back and forth. Often, I would end up flipping the swing, riding it too high. My mom would be so upset at yell at me for scaring her each time I flipped the swing.

Today I sit down on the swing which is aggravatingly difficult with all these layers of tulle, silk, and lace. I don’t want to grass stain my gown before my big moment down walking down the aisle. I rock and swing my body using my barefoot and I’ve taken off my couture Jimmy Choos wedding shoes.

I swing softly and think and I wonder what my future will be like when the weddings over? The truth is no one knows what the future will bring, especially not me. I see the light of sun shining down upon my dress, to me on this day, this light is my hope. Such a brilliant sun could only mean a beautiful life ahead.

——-

My girl sits on the swing, rocking back and forth gently, her veiled head leaning against the rope on one side of the swing. Weddimg guests begin to gather sitting in white wooden chair. Some of the guest gaze back at the bride who thoughtfully swings, humming a familiar tune. I wonder what’s going on in her confounding mind and then she peers back at me and smiles brightly.

I’m not supposed to see her in her white dress yet, so I grin and pretend to cover my eyes as she laughs, telling me to go away. That we’ll be married before we know it. Through my fingers I stare at her, she’s so beautiful. I can feel my heart thumping against my chest –I seem to be nervous after all.

——-

Years later, I think back to that moment when our whole lives were before us. Holding each other’s hands and murmuring our wedding vows. Now I cling to her thin hand in the hospital bed as my love seems to disintegrate before me. One never knows what lies ahead and I think that’s a gift. If we knew what our future was, we would never move forward.

But I see the light of heaven shining upon my wife. I feel this warm healing light on my own body and we stare at each other and smile as the Lord calls us both home. The next morning the nurses find us, our bodies cold. We have already gone onto better things. We left holding hands, the same way we began.

Moral Monday’s Flash Fiction: Tense Driving

Thank you to Nortina for hosting Moral Monday’s prompts. This week’s moral is: ” Finish What You Start.”

mother-daughter-arguing
http://www.goodenoughmother.com

“I hate driving with you.” Cassandra told her Mom.

Hope couldn’t help herself. “I’m sorry. You’re a new driver and you make me nervous. I’m nervous when I drive.”

“Well I’m coming up to a left turn, don’t say anything. I don’t need to end up getting hit because you’re distracting me.”

The arguing escalated. Cassandra half-parked the car in front of their house. Hope was upset, she immediately left the car as Cassandra shouted, ” I’m never driving with you again. You can finish parking the damn car too.” The shouting continued; the car started to roll down the street.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – ” You and I End, But I Survive.”

——

Inside me I hope you see my soul,

Dreaming accomplishment, goals.

I wish you could reach deep within, see —

See beneath the visage, me.

There’s more then what is visible, in a sunrise —

Lost in the spaces of memory, arising.

—-

I hope I can reveal to you,

Treasures of thoughts, giving you clues.

I’m a women capable of love,

I take, I give more; push and shove,

I spoil you because you’re a vision, my best-friend

Depending on you, it’s difficult to do, in the end.

—-

Not sure what this says about my mind,

That I cannot trust; hurt inside.

Little by little I’ll give you more,

I’m afraid you’ll see me out the door,

I’m dreaming, being comfortable together.

Both in our sweats, and me cuddled in forever.

——

You get nervous, when I go beyond,

Physicality, a skin bond.

You give me looks at certain times,

Staring into my eyes, I’m moon shine.

But then, ignoring me because I did something wrong.

I don’t read minds, ever heard the tune of that song.

——

At times, I believed we were going,

Places, you and I, showing —

Each other we can do this spring,

We can be special, mean something.

Then you tune me out again, until you want “it” again.

I’m sad, I feel knives; leaving you, I lose but gain.

—–

I’m strong on my own and thrive.

Demonstrating I survive.

Wires of energy feeling vibes.

Turning away from us, describe —

The beauty of being alone, peaceful, and free.

Inside me, I create my own happy place, you’ll see.

Part 4: Never Again – New Love for Jolene.

Please read Part 3 of ‘Never Again’ here.

Part 4: Never Again – New Love for Jolene.

“Sorry do I know you?” A handsome man around her age asked Jolene.” You seem familiar. And well, you’re beautiful, who could forget you.” Jolene indulged the man with a smile. She was anxious to return to Kasia and Aunt Cathy. No doubt Auntie Cathy had spilled all of Jolene’s carefully guarded secrets to Kasia.

“I don’t believe we’ve met before,” Jolene told the man. “I’m only visiting Cathy Lumiere, with my daughter. I’m Cathy’s niece. I used to live with Cathy when I was in highschool.”

” High school that’s it,” the man mused smiling. He had beautiful lips Jolene thought and such long dark lashes covered his chocolate eyes. “You were the head cheerleader and Prom Queen, you dated Scott Jeune. I never liked that guy. He was obnoxious and a narsaccist if you ask me.” Jolene looked at the man thinking he didn’t realize how true his opinion of Scott was.

” What’s your name, Monsieur?” Jolene asked the man.

“I’m Luc Devreaux, Jolene. I own Chateau Blanc.” Jolene’s eyes went huge when she learned Luc owned the Chateau. She studied his face, staring. Jolene tried to remember if she’d ever seen a Luke Devreaux at the Chateau.

Luc cleared his throat and Jolene realized he’d been holding out his hand for her to shake. Instead of shaking her hand though, he went in for a kiss on each of Jolene’s cheeks. Jolene blushed. Luc smelt delicious, spicy, and citrus.

“How French of you,” Jolene said and Luke gave her a charming grin.

“You have been gone so long you have forgotten about your French roots?” Luc asked Jolene and she hesitated at Luc’s question.

“Well, I travel a lot for work. I wasn’t from Nice or even France originally. I was born in Montreal, Canada. And except for business I have lived in Ottawa with my daughter for five years now… I’m trying to picture you Luc as you looked when I was in highschool, but I can’t remember you. I’m sorry, I was a wild girl at sixteen and seventeen -years-old. I went out with many boys until I met Scott. Lucky, the thing with Scott was only temporary.” Jolene felt she was rambling but Luc made her nervous in a wonderful way. He made her feel as if it were fine for her to be herself.

“Well we went out a few weeks,” Luc began, “but I wasn’t living at the Chateau then. I inherited it from my father later. Mon pere and ma mere have been divorced since I was twelve and I lived with my Mother, who had custody until I was eighteen. But I visited my Dad here in the summer. I remember you well from when you went to high school. You were amazingly pretty, full of yourself, but what pretty teenage girl isn’t. I wanted to keep seeing you, but Scott asked you out. Even though, I was a few years older than you, all you cared about was Scott.” Luc said sadly.

Jolene thought hard. Slowly, a few threads of memories came together in her mind. She remembered a  handsome guy, older than herself, who resembled Luc. She had met young Luc on the path to Chateau from the beach where she had been sun tanning. Luc had been good-looking in a classically handsome way, lanky and athletic. He wasn’t charismatic as Scott had been. But Luc as a young man was an unwavering presence. He was thoughtful and concerned about what she had liked and wanted to do. He had manners and everything wasn’t about himself. In addition, as he said, Luc had been older than Jolene. She had been attracted to the fact he was a university guy back when she was seventeen-years-old.

” I remember you Luc,” Jolene said happily. “You were visiting your father and we met on the pathway. It was dark and thundering and the waves were splashing high on the path. They waves were making it hard for me to stay standing on the pathway as I ran to the Chateau. You came and helped me across and we had hot chocolate together. We dated three-weeks, you were caring and concerned. I thought you were a real catch — until Scott. I was obsessed with Scott for far to long. I’m sorry if I hurt you, dumping you for Scott. You were the better guy.” Luc laughed and grasped Jolene’s hand between both of his larger hands.

“I’m glad you remember, finally,” Luc murmured. “I heard from some of the other staff that Cathy’s niece was going to be staying here awhile. I’m glad you are. I seem to remember we had quite a bit of fun in my old apartment when you were in senior year.”

Jolene lifted her eyebrows, “I believe we did.” Luc laughed.

“When you have time between visiting with your Aunt, come see me in my office. We can catch up… I never heard you had a daughter.” Luc added.

Jolene grinned her hands still enclosed in Luc’s warm hands, ” Yeah, she is great, fifteen now. I will come see you in a few days. I’m a bit run down from travelling and I have a lot of explaining to do with Aunt Cathy. . . when I left years ago it was quite sudden and we haven’t seen Aunt Cathy since.” Jolene admitted to Luc, unsure why she felt like being so honest with him.

” I’m not used to this again Luc. I haven’t dated or really done anything since my daughter was born. There’s been a few random dates but nothing concrete. It’s hard to trust someone for me Luc. Especially, after Scott . . .” Luc nodded brushing a stray hair out of Jolene’s face.

“It’s okay Jolene. We’ll just enjoy each other’s company while your here and see where things go. There is no pressure to do anything you are not comfortable doing.” Luc assured Jolene holding both her hands again.

Jolene looked into Luc’s eyes which seemed to pull her in and hold her close, like she wanted his arms to do now. She realized she had an affect on him as he tightened his hands around her hands and Luc’s breathing quickened.

” I work, I model a little and I run a chain of clothing stores for woman. I am with Kasia, my daughter as much as possible. I wasn’t always able to be with her when she was a bit younger as much.” Jolene said feeling herself flushing again under Luc’s stare.

“What a lucky girl to have a mother with such beauty and intelligence. I’m sure she inherited those qualities from you. I would like to take Kasia’s pretty mother to dinner, after she comes to visit me in my office. Oui?” Luc said. His voice sounded sexy to Jolene.

Oui, Luc,” Jolene said quietly. ” Kasia will be surprised. She has gone on more dates than her mother has in many years.” Luc smiled at Jolene squeezing her hands in his still. Luc let Jolene’s hands go slowly, trailing his fingers along hers as he let his own hands drop and hers.

Jolene walked away from Luc back to her Aunt Cathy’s sitting room, willing herself not to catch her black boot heel on a carpet edge. She looked back once to see Luc standing where she left him in a hallway, watching Jolene walk away. She gave him a small smile and Luc waved.

Part 5 is coming soon, today even!

5. How Was Last Night For You: That Evening and the Next Day

Chapter 4 is here.

Chapter 5: That Evening and the Next Day

John carried and half stumbled as he brought Nina to his bedroom. He brought her body against his on the king size bed.  John kissed Nina’ s face — her cheeks, her eyelids, her lips, were spared no expense. He stroked her back and slowly lifted her turquoise blouse from her body, over her head and murmered ” beautiful  . . .” He continued to kiss her and his hands roamed freely over Nina’s soft naked skin. John’s hand slid down Nina’s stomach and she moaned as he popped the button on her jeans. She felt feverish as he lazily moved the zipper of her jeans down.

John flicked open the back of Nina’s bra and slid her panties down. She worked on the buttons of his shirt and undid his jeans. Nina began to think about what John had told her earlier.Sea witches? And then she wondered if she was the only woman in his life, in his bed. But he had told her he was careful about the woman he went out with. Should she just go with the flow, consequences be damned? Nina wished she could do nothing but feel John’s hands as they caressed her waist and breasts but the cogs in her mind kept turning.

She kept thinking about everything John has said until a pleasurable haze began to invade her senses. John kissed her naked back and she thought, she could be a woman he loved. She was falling for him hard and fast like the Drop of Doom at the summer fair. Could she love him? Would he sacrifice everything for her, even himself? She barely knew John. This was officially there second date. Didn’t she have a rule about sleeping with men, not before she loved them or trusted them. She had a vision of her ex -Tyler and him cheating on her the entire time they were together. But her desire for John was making thinking difficult.

John sucked on her nipples and Nina cried out in pleasure. She put her arms around John and threw back her head. She stroked his arms, backs, and biceps. His lips returned to ravage her delicate throat and before she knew it he was kissing his way down her body until he reached her center. A glorious feeling built up inside her with the movements of his tongue. Pleasure rained down upon her in and a shaking heavenly languor fell over her.

John kissed his way up Nina’s stomach until he was inside of her and began to move at a pace that Nina found electrifying. She could feel herself building again. A wonderful feeling of release and pleasure gripped Nina’s whole body again. Soon John was following behind her orgasms with is own release. He rolled to his side and they both tried to catch their breath.

When John had cooled down a bit he pulled Nina into his neck and stroked her back as they faced one another in bed. Nina was so tired and she drifted asleep with satisfaction. My Nina . . ” John said. When did she become his Nina. John’s face relaxed becoming youthful in sleep and the couple quieted to the repetitive rhythm of breathing in the night.

——-

Talise was picking up sea shells by the cave with the looking glass, hidden behind some large rocks at Lake Sirene. Her family had lived in Adare for generations. For hundreds of years the women in her family had been witches. Mermaids who rose from the the lake and wondered around among the people of Adare without anyone knowing who they truly were.

Not all mermaids were sea witches. But Talise was a special kind of mermaid and had lived a long life compared to most humans. Life had been hard on Talise since she lost her first love decades ago. She had wanted to settle down again and have a family. She had wanted to blend in with the humans. But the man she loved above any man alive had betrayed her. He had only been using her for sex, for her looks. Her green eyes darkened in anger when she thought of John. She had been with many men in the past eight years. Trying to find one who made her feel like she had felt with John. But no man compared to him, to their relationship.

She had hated him so much. But she desperately wanted him back. Perhaps, John and her could start over. Maybe he could fall in love and sacrifice for her and break the curse. She might be able to arrange that seeing as she was the sea witch who cast the curse in the first place.

Talise went into the cave where the looking glass hung. The mirror was made of  natural reflective crystals on part of the cave’s stone walls. Talise looked in the mirror and she saw John with Nina again. She had tried to put an end to Nina using that woman who had grabbed on to Nina’s shoe. Talise had tried to drown Nina then. Apparently, she had forgotten when John truly cared for a woman, he could protect them. He could intercede and stop the bad things which occurred from effecting a woman he cared for. Maybe John was falling in love with Nina?

Talise laughed at this. It had only been a few days. There was no way John loved Nina and Nina loved John. John wasn’t one to fall in love easily. He was probably into Nina for the same reasons he had been with Talise– the woman he knew as Tia.

Slowly, Talise drifted out of the cave where the looking glass was. She made her way back into the sea and began to swim. Her legs turned into a fishes tail and she swam to the harbor at Sirene Lake where all the boats docked. She rose from the water a glorious beautiful woman. Her green eyes beguiling and mysterious. The men and their fishing boats couldn’t quite believe what they saw. Lucky, she had the magic to make it appear as if she had clothes on.

Talise was going to meet Nina, to warn her away from John. She was going to catch up with John later too. Either he would be with Talise and love her as he used to or he would suffer the consequences of choosing Nina. Talise smiled. She had been so naive when she had first loved John. She wasn’t naive anymore.

——

Monday meant work for Nina. More files to file, more reports to write, more market research, and lucky for her lunch with Rianne at their favorite local Mexican Restaurant The Chili Burrito. Nina worked close to home. Work at Wilus was only fifteen minutes away from her condo. Her gym was close to work too. She didn’t love her job but she loved to be busy. Despite her determined faith in John and other people, Nina new she was often blind to other people’s faults. She was a gentle soul and graceful woman.

But the puzzle that was John Eric, was an intriguing one and Nina did not understand how John could live with the kind of events that happened everyday in his life. An unfortunate event occurred and John seemed to take it all in stride. Sometimes he was even a bit callous, as if he didn’t care much that another bad event was about to occur.

A sea witch had cursed John. A sea witch he had been in love with, who dived into the sea, never to be seen again. There was such a Brothers Grimm quality to what John had told Nina that she scarce believed what John said. She thought of the little mermaid who had lost her voice to the sea witch for a pair of legs that always hurt her to walk on. But John had not been innocent as the little mermaid had been, so his existence because of the curse was much worse.

Nina needed to discuss John’s strange tale with her bestfriend since high school. Rianne worked in an office close by as an accountant. Nina needed to discuss the entire situation with Rianne’s logical mind.

At 11:45 am, Nina scrambled to have most of the work she needed to have done before lunch and headed out fifteen minutes early, hoping to stretch her hour lunch into an hour and a half with Rianne.

Rianne arrived all smiles and elegance. Nina saw her brunette curls as she came in the front door. Rianne’s deep brown eyes caught Nina’s eyes from a round pretty face. Rianne was six-inches taller than Nina. She bent down to hug Nina’s petite curvy frame and squeezed her tightly. “So how’d it go with John?” Rianne asked slyly as she skipped hellos and cut right to the chase. Nina looked up at Rianne, eyes alight and she smiled.

” It’s going fantastic, it’s going really well. . .it’s only, I’m not quite sure about him. He’s handsome, funny, has a good job, but he has a lot of baggage. Crazy baggage. Things you could hardly believe. Remember I told you how bad stuff seemed to happen around us that first night we meant, well it happened again at the restaurant. The chandelier dropped and shattered!” Nina paused for emphasis and to take a breath. “And John had this wonderful, unbelievable, and eerie tale to tell me about his life about why he thinks he’s cursed. I just don’t know what to think . . .”  Rianne laughed.

” Hmm… he does seem a bit odd. But just breathe and tell me the rest slowly. You’re talking about everything so fast. I know your excited and confused but we won’t find any solutions to your problems with John that way,” Rianne announced practically.

Nina studied the menu while she thought of where to begin with yesterday’s date with John. The waitress came by and both Rianne and Nina ordered chicken tacos and strawberry margaritas. They chatted about random things until the waitress brought their food and then Rianne looked at Nina expectedly. Nina bit her lower lip thinking where to begin.

Nina told Rianne about the lunch her and John shared and repeated the odd bit about the chandelier falling inside the restaurant. She told Rianne how John had known the chandelier was going to fall and then told her he was cursed by a sea witch who was his ex from eight years ago. For this reason, bad events occurred all around John. Nina told Rianne she and John cared a lot about one another quickly and also that the caring protected Nina from becoming hurt by the bad events. Some of John’s past such girlfriends weren’t so lucky.

Nina finished discussing with Rianne the details two women talk about in regards to men — how hot he was and how nice he was to Nina in bed. How well he treated Nina. Also, how he had asked her on another date, to a work function, and Nina needed something to wear. Nina also begged Rianne to come with her to John’s work function.

” Will you please come. I would feel so much better if you were with me Rianne.”

“I’m not sure. I have a lot of work to do Nina.”

“Oh come on he has brothers and if he is hot I’m sure his brother’s will be too. And good catches. They all have Trust Funds.” Rianne laughed and agreed to come to John’s work event with Nina.

“Okay, Nina. I’m most interested to meet John and his brothers.” She laughed.

Then Rianne brought the conversation back to Nina’s relationship with John.  Rianne had held her hands over her mouth the whole time Nina talked to her. She gasped at the appropriate times and squealed just a little when Nina told her she was going out with John again. Then she gathered herself together and gave her usual logical advice.

“Nina I hate to say this but maybe this guy John has a bit of a complex and only thinks bad things happen around him or to him all the time. Your eventful nights with him could have just been flukes. I mean you were only out with him two times.” Rianne cleared her throat, ” it seems to me that someone being cursed in real life, isn’t logical. Magic isn’t real. His ex-girlfriend cursed him. It doesn’t actually mean he is. . . The whole story he gave you is a bit out there Nina. I mean maybe it could be true but probably not. I think he’s hiding stuff from you. And he doesn’t want to tell you the truth. Either that or he’s delusional.” Rianne took a few bites of her chicken taco and Nina and her ate in thoughtful silence.

” Your such a pragmatist,” Nina complained to Rianne, ” I think there is a lot of truth to what he told me. I mean, you didn’t see him when he told me about Tia. He was shaking and looked deathly ill. He really believes what happened to him and the terrifying ordeals he goes through today are because he is cursed. And because I was with him both days, I’m more inclined to believe him then to doubt him.”

Rianne sighed. ” Your such a dreamer Nina, he was probably trying to get you into bed. I’m glad both times have been fantastic and all but do you really want to get into a relationship of any kind with this guy if what he says is true. You could become seriously hurt and not just your heart, I mean physically. John may know when an accident is about to happen but you don’t. It doesn’t make sense he could save you all the time even if he cares for you. I’m sure he’s meant other women he’s cared about before.” Nina looked at Rianne shocked.

“Aren’t you happy for me Rianne? You know how hard it is to find a good guy in Adare. Well, mostly good guy. But he wants to date me and likes me for me. He trusts me. He’s interesting, charismatic, and mysterious! I  like him a lot.”

Rianne sighed and finished off her chicken Taco. ” I  hope you know what you’re doing Nina. You’re my best friend and I’m only looking out for you from some lunatic. You have such a good heart and you always see the best in people. You forget to see the worst. But if you say he’s a good guy,  I believe there must be something about him you trust. Just be careful and bring mace with you when you go out.” Rianne said laughing. She snorted which made Nina laugh as well.

” Let’s talk about something else” Nina said finally getting herself under control. Let’s talk about you Rianne. Any new man in your life?”

Rianne laughed.” Yeah right, I’m a boring  accountant and I don’t meet fanciful fairy tale princes who are cursed. I have my CA to work on.” The pair of women continued talking for another half an hour before Nina had to walk the two blocks back to work.

Nina felt better after talking to Rianne. She knew she had to be careful with John and she felt grounded. Nothing like Rianne to bring out the practical side in her. Nina checked her watch and double timed it back to the office.

John’s work fundraiser was Thursday and it was only Monday. It was going to be the longest week ever. The event was a cocktail affair, a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, a charity that built houses for people who couldn’t afford them. In return, the person worked on the house and later would pay the mortgage. Merger’s fundraiser also supported children and helping them learn to read in the community.

Nina thought the fundraiser would be fun and was excited to be by John’s side. She was curious to meet his brothers. She wasn’t entirely a fan of them right now but they might grow on her. Maybe one of them would be nice, single, and good for Rianne. Nina chuckled, and sat down at her desk.

The next day dragged as did most of the week. She talked to John a few times on the phone and texted him, but that was all.  The day before the event she went out to find an evening cocktail dress in her budget.  If she didn’t find a dress she had a couple choices at home that might work. But she wanted a new and stunning dress. Her Mom, Heather, had always told her to look her best, even if she felt nervous at an event or party. You could look put together even though you might not feel it.

Nina felt herself growing tense. But she quickly let her tension  go as she worked out at the gym on Wednesday night. ‘Whatever,’ Nina thought. It was only a work thing for John, no biggie. And Rianne would be there with her. Nina couldn’t help but feel scared about what might happen at the fundraiser. Would another bad event occur or could John and Nina be together and simply be a normal couple.

Boudoir Photography and A Little Self – Confidence

Why would anyone do Boudoir Photography? Isn’t that more like for your boyfriend or husband? Isn’t it embarrassing posing around in sexy lingerie, especially if you haven’t got the perfect body?
I think those are all questions people like me asked ourselves before checking out Boudoir Photography. Although, I’m sure some places aren’t the classiest about the whole affaire many photographers are and strive for elegant photos of you in your sexy best. Think of a 1950’s bedroom and the luxurious lingerie women wore back then or think of the simple underrated sexiness of slumming it around the house in your boyfriends comfiest jersey and your underwear, except either way you look gorgeous because your hair and makeup have been coiffed voluminously and your cat eyes done perfectly by professionals. Some places even have all women staff to make you  more comfortable and to make you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

And who gets boudoir photography? Women of all shapes and sizes in all kinds of classy outfits. Usually you get to pick about 3 to 4 outfits for an hour or so session. If your like me that was no problem, in fact, it was hard to cut down my choices. I chose a couple bra and panty sets, a couple of corsets, and a silk negligee. I had matching shoes and jewelry for most of my outfits. But actually, the particular photographer I chose had jewelry, shoes, and other outfits to choose from should I change my mind or want to use anything she had brought, from a few participating stores.

The shoot I went to took place in a classy hotel, but many photographers have their own studios for you to choose from. After changing into my first outfit, I was a little nervous because I didn’t know how to pose and I felt a little self conscious about my weight but my worries were soon obliterated. The photographer knew exactly how I should pose and move in the most attractive manner. We used props like a blanket, the bed, the chair, a mirror, and the curtains. And she was constantly showing me how the pictures looked even before she went and subjected them to some photo retouching. I felt great looking at those photos, very self-confident about myself and my body.

Many women go to get Boudoir Photography for their husbands or boyfriends. Although, my boyfriend would like the photos, the real reason I went had nothing to do with him. I was doing this for me. I wanted to be able to say to myself in 50 years look this how I looked when I was young, not to bad eh? I didn’t even want my boyfriend to see the photos at first but they turned out so well that I had to show him and he approved of the classy boudoir photographs my the photographer had taken.

It was an hour and a half session the first time I went so it was long time and we took a lot of pictures in various poses. Later, I was mailed a CD with the best of the photograph’s on the CD and I had 2 photo books made. One photography book I made for me and one for my boyfriend. All in all though it was a confidence booster for me and helped me feel a lot better about a body that had seen about 25 lbs of weight increase in 4 years due to medication and the inability to stay fit. I felt like a sexy bombshell and I knew that if I looked this great under my clothes then with my clothes on I would feel even better.

So, here I am 2 years later, after that fun and renewing experience. I have put on another 12 lbs due to medication and I don’t feel so good about my body. My boyfriend always tells me he loves what he sees but I have decided to try Boudoir Photography again for myself to see how I really look at this stage in my life, almost 30-years-old. I am a bit nervous to see what I will see but I know that I will feel good about what I see after and that the photographer will make look good even if I’m a little chubby now. I have chosen my outfits and I am excited to go, to have my hair and makeup done again and to prove to myself that I am just beautiful as I was 2-years before.

I know I can’t go and get Boudoir Photography every time I gain a little weight. But a place I was planning on going for it had a groupon for a good price and I have heard fantastic things about the company. So I am excited to look sexy under the camera again reaffirm what I already know, I look good skin deep and otherwise.
