I blink awake to the lapping water as its tune resonates splashed against my skin, and when I gulp my protein shake; I breathe in liquid air and run. On the street-way cannel, the slide and slip of the tide is music, a rhythm I hum; I inhale the salt air as my sweat drips in the morning. I’m rounding the corner, acknowledging neighbors revving the engines of their boats for the cafes or market; I dive off the farthest dock and swim home — my morning training complete.

——–

Much is proffered buying, selling —

Various types clothing,

Makeup, perfume, jewelry, and scarves.

——-

If the price’s too rich,

We’ll window shop,

Try on Channel, Dior, anyways.

——-

Perhaps we’ll wait until they’re —

Sales in stores,

We can afford buying from.

——–

Buy what we love quality and —

Better priced, classic —

Natural fabrics, Aubrey Hepburn styles.

—–

Maybe we’ll test perfumes floral,

On papers, wrists,

Apply thirty facial highlighters glimmering.

—–

Perhaps we’ll find the right —

Shade, skintone for —

Foundation that’s wonderful, covers perfectly.

——

Maybe we’ll smother ourselves in —

Silk scarves with —

Rainbow colours; every size, shape.

—-

Trying on high heels our —

Legs appearing long,

Gorgeous, aching feet all night.

—–

What about something delicate, silken —

To sleep in;

Matching five-inch Jimmy Choos.

—–

Silk blue sweaters, wool coats,

Little black dresses —

Hugging curves; cotton-stretch v-necks,

——-

Knee-high leather boots winter’s —

Calling; gold sandals —

For summer’s heat, beach vacation.

——

Rose-gold necklaces polished, tangled,

Pearls rings gleaming;

Nail polish, pink blush, lipsticks —

—-

Matte or moisturizing, sparkling, holographed.

Moisturizer, anti-aging —

Serums with Retinol, Vitamin whatever.

—–

How about we stop driving —

Home; explore the —

Market, pet the dogs, purchase —

—–

Crisp baby carrots, fresh corn.

Peaches and cherries;

Blushing nectarines, just-picked raspberries.

—–

Homemade wine, high alcohol content —

Breath in reds,

Touch of tartness, sweet white —

—-

Rieslings; homemade tequila or moonshine,

Slushy strawberry margaritas.

Apple-pies warm, mince-meat pie —

—–

For Dad; with shortbread that —

Melts slowly on,

Our tongue, gourmet chocolate gelato.

—–

Dog treats for ‘good dogs,’

Organic peanut butter —

Grandma’s homemade raspberry jelly too.

——

How about honey straight from —

Bee hives dripping,

Into hot tea at night.

——-

They’re various heavenly delights,

But only so —

Much money in our pockets.

Saturday Mix: Poem – Octain/Double/High – “The Beauty of My Love” #amwriting #poetry #saturdaymix

Thanks to Teresa of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting Saturday Mix. Saturday’s prompt was to write pasturel poetry (Fiction/no fiction) which is essentially poetry written about nature in an idyllic way.

The beauty of my love is sweet, divinely prized.

Through fields of wildflower I follow her steps,

Her milk white skin, soft, supple; she knows best,

How tiny goat kids, and dog’s pups will thrive.

They bleet, whimper, for her hands petting coats,

Feeding them drops of milk reviving life’s hope.

So they wil live glorious in pastures kind;

Become adults frolic, following my queen.

The beauty of my love is sweet, divinely prized.

The beauty of my love is sweet, divinely prized,

She gathers the chickens eggs to feed,

Those who grace her kitchen with smiles pleased.

Finds the dairy cows, milks them all beguiling.

She’s a feminist, believes we never stop learning.

She chose to farm, grows organic food, serves —

Customers desiring; at market they find hers first;

My love works hard, adores our life, she’s pleased.

The beauty of my love is sweet, divinely prized.

Writing 201 – Elegy/Enumeratio – Farmer’s Market

I use to walk through downtown and adore the complex flavours,

But now I’m cold and wearing boots, winter comes to ruin our fun,

I could purchase so many organic items, at summer markets we would savour.

Winter steals our fruit, vegetables, baking, and wine –for there is no more summer sun.

I would live my Saturday’s with joy down the venue lanes,

Sipping on real lemonaid and smelling baking bread in the air, and I could buy,

Cherries in July so dark and red, bleeding sweetness on my lips and into my veins;

Apricots, pited, fuzzy orange, and devoured with a sigh.

Apple pies, the old fashioned kind; for that I’ll pay my money.

Baby carrots, little stubs, add some butter, after boiling some.

Rhubarb wine, bitter sweet, a drink, I swallow and it tastes like honey;

Or you could buy the real deal, natural honey from bees that hum.

I make my way to other venues with jewelry and clothes, trying on a designer dress —

From Cinder & Smoke, and I buy a baby quilt all pink and white, for a little niece.

That market had everything, food, spices, necklaces, dog treats, items I’ve failed to impress.

But now the wind sweeps through these empty streets with no market, may it rest in peace (until next year).

Day 11- NaPoWriMo- Sapphics –  ” Writing Poetry”

I was going to the market to

Buy myself some dinner but it was

So cold; I was so very hungry

I needed soul food.

I’m trying to write some small

Little ditty but it is harder

Then it looks to write  in meter

Do I have it right?

I think the number of syllables

Doesn’t match well but trying to

Write poetry is tricky business

When writing new forms.
