1. “It was dusk and the light had an ultra-violet quality to it, a final burst of pigmentation as night and day rushed at each other in a clash of colour prisms before darkness finally, inevitably won out.”

― Karen Swan, Christmas in the Snow

——

2. “The dance between darkness and light will always remain— the stars and the moon will always need the darkness to be seen, the darkness will just not be worth having without the moon and the stars.”

― C. JoyBell C.

—–

3. “But if I’ve learned anything, it is that goodness prevails, not in the absence of reasons to despair, but in spite of them; if we wait for clean heroes and clear choices and evidence on our side to act, we will wait forever . . . [life] . . .  teach[es] me that people who bring light into the world wrench it out of darkness, and contend openly with darkness all of their days; [… they] were flawed human beings, who wrestled with demons in themselves as in the world outside; [for] me, their goodness is more interesting, more genuinely inspiring because of that reality; [the] spiritual geniuses of the ages and of the everyday simply don’t let despair have the last word, nor do they close their eyes to its pictures or deny the enormity of it’s facts; [they] say, “Yes, and …,” and they wake up the next day, and the day after that, to live accordingly.”

― Krista Tippett, Speaking of Faith.

Writers Quote Challenge: Poem – Licentia – “Filling The Cup” #writersquotechallenge #poetry #amwriting

Thank you to Jacqueline and Bernadette, from A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales for hosting the All New Writer’s Quote Challenge. Here’s this week’s prompt quote:

“We are all vessels. The question is what are the contents of your vessel?”

——–

http://www.pinterest.com

——

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

We cannot keep all the dreary out nor —

The demons within; release what’s ill and poorly.

Light shines in your shadows keeps the cobwebs,

From ceasing thoughts which need to be said.

Let your vessel overrun with hope, joy —

Though difficult, let not out what annoys.

Tranquility, contentedness find,

Don’t let the dark days your soul to confine.

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

—–

We cannot keep all the dreary out nor —

The demons within; release what’s ill and poorly.

Find vessels alike, fill each other’s cup

Never destain to ask all your friends,”What’s Up?”

Tears fill us sometimes, but joy overflows too,

Let happiness feed each other, connection through —

Friend or family uplifts one another.

Strangers walking trade smiles, vessels fill love.

We are with each other so we might as well live

Providing all people with kindness given.

We are all vessels in life, full of what we choose,

Let what whispers you would in, wisely proved.

Poem: Free Verse – “Prayer for the Small Things” #amwriting #poetry #prayer

Credit: Saatchi Art – Thank God For Women Legs by Thomas Saliot

——–

Oh Lord, thank God for the small things,

The words and acts of kindness,

Which help me through the day.

Thank God for the small things,

Each day I’m fed,

I’ve many clothes to wear.

Thank you that I too can be generous

That you gave me a Mother who taught —

Her daughter to be thoughtful,

So I wouldn’t think only of myself.

And even when I’m hurt and crying

I can see a silver lining in that cloud.

*****

Lord, thank you for the small things,

A life I’m given to live

No matter how battered or bruised

You’re my armour and you never leave.

Your champions wage

Though the whirlpool may swallow;

You bring us through to the other side.

New blessings each day,

More than we need or want, or deserve

Thank you for the small things.

For earnings, for caring friends,

For a heart that doesn’t break when it’s bent

Thank you for love; however, small it was,

For those who hurt me,

So I knew then, what forgiveness was.

*****

Lord, oh for the small things,

That kindness could be formed in me,

To kill the badness, the jealousy

Thank you for keeping him safe,

For him not being my guy,

Though I pray for him still,

You keep him secure, alive —

I pray you give him faith

And draw us both close to you.

*****

Thank you my almost love,

Is not in the big picture.

I hope he sees his wealth,

His privilege comes,

Not only with acts of goodness

But faith in God, in Jesus —

From his heart

If I see him again —

Help me to not turn away but to repair

So much is your power,

You could change a man’s mind.

Help him see he is lost in the law,

He needs your grace to believe

*****

Thank you Lord, for the small things,

My family, my friends, those I detest.

My lost pets, my forgotten foes.

Every man I felt something special for,

For the ones who hurt me deep and cut in;

I didn’t bleed out and die inside.

I moved on, survived

I’m doing okay.

*****

Thank you I was born in this day and age

Not one-hundred something years ago or more.

For medical advances, social programs,

And people more understanding,

At least I hope

Thank you that one day, I’ll see you face to face,
Thank you Lord, for the small things,

For to me they’re very big.

My prayer I give and keep in my heart

For your omniscient presence,

For your healing,

Oh Lord, I ask and give thanks.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 30/31 – Senryu – “Eternity for Real” #amwriting #poetry #religion #christianity #faith

Day 31 Prompt: Eternal

“When I think of eternal, I think there isn’t much that is eternal, at least not on this earth. When I wrote this prompt, I believe I was thinking how even though OctPoWriMo is coming to an end, our words are forever – what we wrote during this month and beyond. What does eternal mean to you?”
——

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” –John 5:24

——-

http://www.pinterest.com

——–

Time on earth is done,
When my body is only,
An Empty vessel.

——–

Then shall eternity —

Begin; time will not matter.

For all those gone on.

——

Time on earth, linear,

Comprehend forever,

It’s hard imagining.

——-

What forever is,

What it looks like and feels like,

Who the maker is?

—–

Death is frightening,

Even in sleep, will it hurt?

Where does our soul go?

——-

This is why I think,

Believing in God is wise,

We can worry less.

——-

Perhaps worry not —

At all; because we know what —

The otherside will bring.

——-

Many say we’re wrong,

There’s no heaven, there’s no hell.

I learned fear of God.

—–

Not that we should be —

Afraid of benevolent —

King; but his word speaks.

—–

Gives us hope for life,

Eternal in Jesus dying for —

Everything done wrong.

——

We’re not perfect and —

We never will be, we can’t

Keep the Ten Commandments.

——

Fulfilling God’s law,

Impossible to achieve,

So he sent Jesus.

——

He hung on a cross,

Cruxifician painful, bled.

He died went to Hell.

——

Defeated devil,

Defeated death and the grave,

So with him remain.

——

When our death comes there —

Is no sting, because those who —

Have faith, believe — live.

—–

That is eternity,

Heaven with God, better than —

Our wildest dreams.

——

Forgiveness of sin,

Becoming perfect beings,

Paradise for real.

——-

Thank you for following me for #OctPoWriMo. Sorry, I’m behind on my usual prompts! I will catch up and am following a new themed daily prompt for November. Stay tuned 🙂

Three Line Tales: Mad About Yellow #amwriting #3Linetales #yellow

Thank you to Sonya of Only 100 Words for hosting this week’s 3LineTales.

——

Source: Wolf Schram

——–

1. “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do — Yeah, they were all yellow.”

(“Yellow by ColdPlay)

———-

2. ” So we sailed up to the sun, till we found the sea of green. And we lived beneath the waves in our yellow submarine.”

(“Yellow Submarine by The Beatles)

———–

3.  ” I’m just mad about Saffron, Saffron’s mad about me. I’m just mad about Saffron, She’s just mad about me. They call me mellow yellow (Quite rightly). They call me mellow yellow (Quite rightly). They call me mellow yellow.”

(“Mellow Yellow” – Donovan)

——–

So I decided to go with a theme of the colour yellow and use song lyrics about yellow. These are my choices and hopefully, you recognize them and can watch the videos as well! 🍋🍌📒

Thank you to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s collage prompt:

Love it —

Must be more than,

What Emma simply says,

When You’re losing,

Your teeth.

——–

She says,

Quite clearly,

And she’s only six-years,

But she’s wise for —

Her age.

——–

Wisdom,

Just children have,

Amaze adults revealing that,

Love is more than,

We think.

——-

Complete,

And comfortable,

Smiling without teeth ’cause,

Your friends love you,

For you.

—–

No matter,

You’re missing teeth,

And have gapes in your mouth,

Friends care not, love —

Anyways.

——-

Of all,

Kids’ memories,

The best to remember,

Innocence made.

Without —

——–

Judgement,

Only fighting,

Over favourite toys,

Grudges not kept,

Hands held.

——

Pets like,

Favourite cats,

Laughing at penguins from,

Favourite movies loved,

With Friends.

——-

Second —

Homes, each other’s —

Houses; kids come and go,

Colouring,

Painting.

——–

Spending,

Childhood doing,

All the activities kids,

Should be doing,

Laughing —

——–

Over,

Funny things told,

Not really funny but,

Giggling stuck,

Can’t stop.

——-

As kids,

Laugh at every,

Age; children’s innocence,

Refreshing and,

So kind.

——

Especially,

When they teach us,

Lessons like to love anyway,

Family and friends,

Anyone.

—–

Kids play,

Not realizing,

World’s complicated; let —

Children be free

Always.

Poem: Free Verse – “Second Chance Child” #amwriting #fiction #poetry #adoption

http://www.wallpaperlayer.com

———

Ageless pages, in words transform,

Who are you to be so adorable?

Dreaming in daylight, waking in sleep;

Cherub cheeks and supple skin,

Bright eyes so blue and curious,

A baby giggling, gurgling.

So mysterious, you came from —

A woman who wouldn’t mother you;

Maybe she couldn’t? Or perhaps, she refused?

But I wonder how she shut herself off from you?

Leaving your beautiful face, curious reflection

Your cutesy, adorable infant-self,

Imprinting on another woman.

We all know you’re little, need protection,

We need remember you’re delicate, cuddle you close.

She didn’t know; how could she not?

How did she leave?

And when you were adopted and grew,

Did you care anymore? Yet being so small,

The new woman before you, you loved.

She became the lights in your eyes, the stars in your sky,

Until half-grown one day, walking with friends,

You overheard parents talking of you –adopted?

Such conflicting feelings and such anger,

Wrapped in teenaged angst.

Why didn’t she want you?

She gave you away;

You’re mad at the woman who raised you,

Your real mother, but not by blood.

Because in your adopted mother’s face you see,

The face of the one who left you alone.

On those cold wet cement steps (you learn),

Before you could do anything.

Defenceless, you imagine yourself a babe,

Left to die — or be found by someone horrible.

But you are here and here you are

The day you find your first mother,

The biological one you loath,

You see the drug affects, the needle tracts,

On her arms, the scars, and the abuse.

Forty-something woman seems as if she’s sixty hard-lived.

Skin as leather, smoker’s cough, raspy voice,

Shows you a picture of a much prettier woman,

Her so young, walking the wrong path.

Now she’s smiling and patting your hand,

So relieved you’ve come to see her now.

One wonderful and beautiful thing she birthed.

She erases the rage you’ve acquired,

Makes you feel not so mad because you know,

She didn’t want you to be her one day.

So she did what she had to do for youshe sacrificed.

And you mourn for her, for you —

All the time you wasted hating.

When at home lives your real mother,

And before you lies a stranger,

Your biological connection to her dying.

A string formed between you of DNA;

A reason she gave you up,

To live and thrive through life a better way.

So, young one, I hope you do.

Your second chance,

Has always been yours

Poem: Free Verse – “Self-Healing and Caustic” #amwriting #poetry

http://www.123hdwallpapers.com

——–

The darkness conceals, filthy misdeeds.
Hidden weapons, malovelence.

Daggers hidden in tips of boots,

Removed from suit coats, in suit linings revealed,

To silence my heart, and I think it’s the end.

But my heart keeps beating, a hard steady beat;

I hear it alone, only in my ears because everywhere else —

There’s dead silence; but in the silence,

My heart is a drum, banging out the beats of life and renewal,

The thump thump, the tempo which will not end.

You’re too generous to stab me in the back,

So it must be in my chest, through the organ which loved you.

Now my blood spills, but my heart keeps up a ‘Lub-dub,’

Waiting for a death which never arrives.

There is only the sound of my blood pooling in silence.

Yet, I’m only pained by the horrific sound of nothing,

My heart is strong and I struggle through,

Only to find I have not what most call life’s blood.

My veins weep venom, for I run on poison — not blood.

And the vitral having leaked into ventricles,

Pumps throughout my body,

My own sickly blood healing me and —

Killing my lost love, a murder;

All those exposed, the blood is poison for.

I’m overcome by sadness as I’m lying here,

Heart beating, but I should be dead?

But I’m still going strong with my blood self -healing.

A poisonous farewell I give to everyone I lose.

I’m unaffected by a dagger aimed,

Didn’t conceive of my body regenerating.

And my blood in the open — it ends lives.

I rise and into the night fade, as if I never was.

Tears leaking down my face, caustic themselves.

Music Friday Prompt: Poetry – Free Verse – “Silence Is A Sound.”

Thanks for the music post from Mind Loves Misery’s Menagerie. The prompt song is “Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garnfunkel. Most recently, it is noted, the band Disturbed, did a wicked version of this classic.

Also thanks to The Daily Post for the prompt words MuseProfound, and Elusive.

Hello darkness you’re my muse;

A have profound “visions” in my mind,

They’re haunting me again.

Such elusive beings, wisps of vapour transforming;

I’m not sure anyone will understand,

But I strum my guitar and I hum the tune,

A melody to haunt profoundly through the decades.

Darkness, friend or foe?

Who would know silence has a sound?

What is the sound of silence, no one ever knows?

If darkness is the place I most hide,

Where the “seeds” of this “vision” keep;

Than why do I wander “streets“with “lamps . . . stabbing,”

My eyes in the cold empty street?

How does that light touch the silence elusive

Silent isn’t a concrete thing.

It’s not physical, so how do lights hurt silence?

How do you not notice all those “people“(thousands),

And hear their voices while they stay silent?

How do you know what they are “hearing?”

Only they know if they’re “listening;”

And the “songs“they sing in silence –silence would mean,

You couldn’t hear anything sung,

Or know the “song“they theoretically, could sing.

And if no one dares “speak,” somehow I think,

The silence still eludes them.

And if you say silence is a “cancer grow[ing];”

I’ll tell you what peace I find in it,

When “fools” they do not “speak;”

But you ring your voice, it echoes,

And you know, no one with silence is disturbed,

So your voiceless voice like “raindrops falling,”

 Is silence never heard.

Can silence be heard or unheard?

A paradox, perhaps?

Are you sheep to the slaughter to this “neon god;

And what “neon sign flashed” in “warning?”

If the “sign“was a god what did it warn,

That you were all sheep being led astray?

And who is this “prophet?”

They’re so many to speak, Elijah or Danial?

The Islamic Mohammed?

And “tenement halls” which from came “whispers,”

They’re overcrowded apartment buildings.

Apartments with small rooms, where people —

Are stuffed, having no personal space.

Even here, is there no silence which has sound?

Wouldn’t it be a dirty place, no room to move,

To breathe, to live, — to find peace?

Yet the words of said “prophet” are,

On the “subway” walls.

Means I think, the writings on the wall

Or referring to people stuffed into trains,

 And metros as cattle too?

I think in the thunderous silence,

Everyone is missing what’s coming;

And no one knows the truth or breaks the silence.

Yet a few “whispers” I detect,

 Elusive for their sound;

And silence rings and breaks sound barriers,

A sound which is never heard.

But you dear listener, hear the sound profoundly clear;

And wonder yet, how silence is a sound?
