What if you were on the streets and had no family,

To take you in? What if you were awfully ill?

Had no health care insurance or will —

To live? ‘Cause no one cared, not really.

Disappearance might seem easier,

You think your absence won’t ever be missed.

Better for others, if your life’s dismissed?

Not in the way; without friends, eyes keeping,

Watch on you: We must help those who live ‘What If;’ too —

Many people fall through the cracks,

Cannot afford medication to live,

Or wander streets, hungry, with poor hygiene.

We all must care because the neglected need much,

Are valuable humans, who require our hands.

Here’s she,

His sweet angel,

Wearing her frothy gown,

She’s beautiful, elegant,

A wife any man could love or desire.

She’s the epitome, the standard,

What women should be like,

Humming music,

Here’s she.

——–

Her hair,

Perfectly coiffed,

Mother of six children,

Few lines on her face, she holds up.

Although, life’s pressure can be confining,

Her lips smile a gesture rehearsed.

What’s underneath in her —

Boarding school mind,

Her hair?

Model,

She’d wants all to —

Perceive she’s the perfect wife.

Society expects her to —

Set perfect example because —

She’s upperclass, the lead in the charade.

Acting as the moral —

Of the great dame,

Her family, pride, joy,

Madame’s smile is slipping because,

Performing all the time is exhausting.

Humming,

As the bird who’s —

Thrumming in the air,

Struggling for each flutter so

Rapid; so utterly fast it’s blurring.

My wings in flight are haze to you,

You don’t see underneath;

Desperation,

Humming.

——

Darkness,

Arising in —

My stomach, spiraling,

To the surface out of my —

Broken soul that I mend in those worlds found,

In each and every story, novels —

Ending hiding; I’m no —

Crab in my shell’s —

Darkness.

——-

In dreams,

I writhe, I twist,

Tales of old and new —

Follow me when enters Sandman,

To calm adventures stripping me of sleep.

But just as I live in my books,

I live in nightmarish —

Tales at midnight,

In dreams.

——-

Awake,

Oh, sheltered one.

Let the black smoke rise, cleanse

Your body from your shattered self,

Set free your mind, let your spirit live,

Life’s the greatest adventure,

Stories read fill gaps;

Burst forth spirit,

Awake.

———

Cherries,

You’re sexy  as,

Women who curl cherry —

Stems into knots with skillful tongues.

Unafraid to bare your body,

When it’s appreciated.

With love, you expose your —

Soul; All for ripe

Cherries.

—-

As books,

Sweet red cherries,

From the Okanagan,

A valley of delicacies.

Driving through B.C. in summer, you —

Stop at every fruit stand,

Selling juicy fruit — truths;

Cherries savored,

As books.

—–

Smokescreen,

Floats up swirls as —

Papal smoke; the blackness,

Forgiven reading thousands

Of tales, every genre, every language.

Devouring ‘reads’ as cherries,

Demons gone; living with —

Wisdom taught, no —

Smokescreen.

——

Light’s glow,

In each tale read.

Nourishes souls; keeps me —

Aching to learn, wanting to know,

Of worlds, fantastic characters —

With hubris, compelling charm.

While some characters are —

Searching hard for,

Light’s glow.

—–

Writing,

It filled holes,

Torn in souls, in hearts wrecked,

The reader became author,

Discovering within her fingers lies a —

Haven, a solace of peace, rest;

Because the story grows —

In her, exposing —

Writing.

Teach us teacher, we’re ready to learn,

We’re here to fill our minds, wonder blooming.

For learning’s life’s opportunities earned.

Oh what problems will we learn to discern?

Reading, poise, religion; house ‘angels’ singing,

Teach us teacher, we’re ready to learn.

How should we serve tea? Keep house, give birth, turn —

On those not good enough? Not with us ranking.

For learning’s life’s opportunities earned.

Should our daughters be haughty and learn —

Their goal (as ours), to marry well praying,

Teach us teacher, we’re ready to learn.

Are we moral centers? Ignoring sperns,

Spouse with many beds, mistresses stringing.

For learning’s life’s opportunities earned.

Our value, our husband, children, in turn —

Their children, their marriages bliss bringing?

Teach us teacher, we’re ready to learn,

For learning’s life’s opportunities earned.

If I don’t say this, I’ll surely break,

I’ll take care of you, we’ll lie awake,

And both meet the coming dawn.

Our lives cocooned —la vie c’est  bonne.

—–

I will love you, no matter the stakes,

If I don’t say this, I’ll surely break.

Such urgency, my heart separates,

Please just hold onto to me and wait.

——-

Steady as she goes, life’s a spin cycle,

My love for you is pure, so rightful

If I don’t say this, I will surely break,

Your my emerald, I’ll never forsake.

——-

Let me love you when life is bad,

Especially when, life’s the best we’ve had.

You’ll always be my piece of cake,

If I don’t say this, I will surely break.

Poem: Lauranelle -“Living the Story”

 Please Listen Below:

The story of our lives, it’s never over,

Until we breathe our last, we keep building.

Transitions experienced, life a changeover.

Loved ones grow, develop; our lives overfilling,

Hoping you experience, best of times; your story,

Ever-glowing, phenomenon thrilling.

Praying your lives keep moving, with pose; glory.

Even in the darkest times, search for light.

Live through each of life’s interesting short stories.

In the long road run, your epic takes flight.

No, life is not one or two, short stories formed.

Life the story, keeps changing; keep fighting.

At times, you must overcome frightening storms,

You must battle through blood; strike through the gore.

But there’s reasons you’re you, why you were born.

Lessons to be learned; experience fought for.

Life means continually rebuilding.

Worry not, when you fall; God rescues you before —

The waves pull you out, and drown you in salt —

Water takes away; it gives too, no fault.

The story of our lives, it’s never over,

Until we breathe our last, we keep building.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Afraid to Say – Quatern – “Worth”

img_1070-1

——-

And now, for our prompt (optional, as always). This one sounds simple, but it can be pretty difficult. Today, I challenge you to write a poem that includes a line that you’re afraid to write. This might be because it expresses something very personal that makes you uncomfortable – either because of its content (“I always hated grandma”), or because it seems too emotional or ugly or strange (“I love you so much I would eat a cockroach for you”). Or even because it sounds too boring or expected (“You know what? I like cooking noodles and going to bed at 7 p.m.”). But it should be something that you’re genuinely a little scared to say. Happy (or if not happy, brave) writing!

For more information please see the website for NaPoWriMo.  Also from The Daily Post I will be using the word prompts Green and Superstition. For more information on a Quatern please see Shadow Poetry.

Green days gone by, fleeting and lost,

Remember, I felt like a hot live wire,

Pushed into your skin, so alive.

Time moves, I blame God for life’s cost.

—–

Memoirs of our younger days,

Green days, gone by, fleeting and lost.

Superstition, souls embossed.

Magical times new, flowing this way.

—–

Life is a dream, a fast moment,

I keep hoping time won’t accost,

Green days, gone by, fleeting and lost.

Count your seconds, don’t relent.

—–

Facing our challenges exhausted,

Each minute has value and worth.

In life there’s time for our rebirth.

Green days gone by, fleeting and lost.
