Three Line Tales: Poem – Lunes – “Hollow Liberty” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales

Barbed wire tongue, crescents bleeding;

Crimsons stains wrung,

Scratches, scrapes, gouges; fight wounds.

*****

Scars criss-cross, linger; priceless

Liberty gnawing, piercing;

Glittering eyes, barbed-teeth maim.

*****

Cages, prisons, iron bars, steel barriers,

Keep-out; empty —

Victory; they’ve decided Lady Liberty’s hollow.

“Bird Set Free” by Sia

I’ll shout it out, have no doubt, I’ll fly free,

No whispered tunes of birds flitting off key;

A hush of melodies from ages past,

Notes, movements, which won’t disappear — they’ll last.

So, I’ll shout it out like a bird set free.

Singing for love, for possibility,

For the sweetness of words’ probability.

To soar, to rise high, past rising winds,

Find His Spirit within, not to rescind —

Those promises not given lightly, but —

Oaths we crossed ourselves, and kept, to catch gusts —

Off the highest cliffs and spread our wings fast.

Wait; breezes tickle wings, catch the updraft.

So, I’ll shout it out like a bird set free.

Holy Spirit as you rose, naming Him,

Your Holy Son, whose blood liberated sin’s —

Hold on all, on those who who yearned for flight.

No more pain; no more losing wicked fights.

No more bullies who pull feathers out; who —

Know not the joy of sky’s an unknown blue.

So, I’ll shout it out like a bird set free.

Sunday Photo Fiction/ Saturday Mix: Poem – Prose Poetry – “We the People” #amwriting #poetry #SaturdayMix #SPF

Thanks to Susan for hosting SPF. Also thanks to Sarah from MindLoveMisery Menagerie’s Saturday Mix Prompt of Opposing Forces. Today the two sets of words are: permit and forbid, and visitor and host. Sorry, this is longer than the regular 200 Words.

Credit: C.E. Ayer

He permits and forbids without reason, with much fallacious thought. He twists words as vines and slithers. A side-show becomes the center of the circus ring, as he pretends he can make you great.

But you don’t need him to flourish. Your strength is in your people, you’ve the right, the ability, to burn such policies to ash. You were great before his birth, before his residence. And — into time, and into the past — his words will fade as hell’s bells knell. With each message of condemnation, each compliment a serpent’s tongue lisping. You never know if you can trust him, and such delusion is surely a crime.

Yet, in a Republic or a Democracy, citizens may choose and remove those who speak only to their self-glories, not of Him above or those soldiers sacrificed; not of the everyday person’s self-sacrifice. He plots and in isolation, he’d have you flounder believing every typed character, every Slytherin parcel-tongued lie rasped. Not the truth that he’s cast on his belly and is nourished in slime. You’re not great because of him, but you are great despite him.

We, your ever watchful neighbor, curse the writing on the wall. Sometimes you’re all too near to see the deception that slips through every crack. Thistle-thorned, tree trunk-sized weeds, poisoning all right. But, if you blocked his words and turned away, gave him no more votes or attention. If you ignored him as a child who tantrums, and slammed the door to his room — his words and lies would fade, no more cats yowling. You could be as one who enters into a serene and secret garden, where suddenly, the silence of blubbering ceases, and your mind crystallizes.

You are the people, and no matter your past vote, you have more power than one man’s ploys. You can forbid his doctrine and not remain astray. While you’re a host of greatness forever reclaiming your liberation, you’ve also the freedom to make his presence, his disturbed and loquacious visit, a memory. Everyone falters, everyone knows the anger of manipulation — we’re all human. So, revise your independence for you all as, “We the People,” are the way to greatness.

#NaPoWriMo Day 20/Tale Weavers: Poem – Free Verse – “Ember of Glory” #amwriting #poetry #MLMM #TaleWeavers

For #NaPoWriMo Day 20 the Prompt is: ” to write a poem that involves rebellion in some way. The speaker or subject of the poem could defy a rule or structure that’s been placed on them, or the poem could begin by obeying a rule and then proceed to break it.

Also, combining with Michael from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie TaleWeavers Prompt “exploring the concept of longing. What is it you long for? Health, holiday, freedom, love, understanding, acceptance.”

These cubicles, they’re full —

But outside there’s fresh -air and freedom.

A world to explore, to engage to the core,

Outside these thin walls is liberty.

No more work burdens to bear,

So, the mountains and city steps I’ll climb.

And these cubicles, I’ll slice them full of holes,

Tacking up scenic pictures to inspire my soul.

Nature’s vibrant purple-skies as storms roll in,

Waterfalls that crash, and streams that gurgle.

Cars that absorb the grind of the rocky-road,

Spring zipping through the highways on four-wheels.

All in all, I’m forlorn, for the wide-great outdoors,

Scented pine-needles and decaying earth.

Wings of bubble-bees as they hit the breeze,

And flutter into pale-pink roses.

I’ll knock down these walls with hammers and saws,

Because no architect supposed workers crave sunlight.

No builder thought windows were essential to breathe,

That these gray walls, dense recycled air —

Aren’t places for humans to exist;

To flourish and grow, to be creative and problem-solve.

They’re the prisons where we labor to earn —

The visage of sunlight on rippling waters.

Oceans crashing against rocks —

The flow of rivers down the banks,

And the hustle of people as they swarm live-festivals,

Scamper for cool beer and watermelon.

When we peer to the ceiling, we’re searching for the sky,

So, you can call security, but either way, I’m escaping.

The green-grass is sweet and calling to me;

My heart beats for the tides’ ankle-deep caress.

And a tangerine sunset, it lives inside me,

The ember of glory that leads the way,

Through the dull-dread of each dreary workday.

“Bird Set Free” — Sia

Broken like a cage, a bird flutters, pages in the breeze

Harnessed voice caught, sputters,

Sputters as clipped wings sprout feathers

Sputters as a tattered soul struggles

Struggles through the pain

Struggles, not able to sanguinely sing

Sing the fire of a scream inside

Sing the song of a creature chained

Chained and rejected

Chained, but the need to soar resides

Resides within a silent piercing message

Resides within her brokenness surviving

Surviving and holding on tight, nails piercing skin

Surviving in the melodies, phrases key —

Key to life, the writer writing,

Key to life, the singer singing with iron will

Will to shout as a bird set free

Will of vocals as a crescendoing sound

Sound of a voice roaring, echoing and never ebbing

Sound of a voice struggling back to life

Life, a vivid dream alive and brilliant

Life a scream torn from our insides, sick pain rising

Rising and lifting wings in the wind

Rising no longer with ghosts hiding

Hiding the lies that eat through us inside

Hiding our sadness, those tears until —

Until our voices are shrill from relief

Until melodies release the tension

Tension of of being muted and broken

Tension of piercing wails lifted

Lifted high, nails scratching to be alive

Lifted high not wanting to die, caged door open

Open to life and exploring, songs that twist

Open to life, shouting loud, a bird set free to fly

Fly to the edges of the ancient map

Fly to the fire of the sun, wings without wax

Wax poetic of those times you felt trapped

Wax on the candle dripping as light fades

Fades to be reborn in celestial fire

Fades as dreams rediscovered in ditties

Ditties thrown as a bird set free

Ditties forever sung, a piercing yell released

Released all anger, released all pain

Released all bitterness, soaring as the falcon —

Falcon dipping, bending, screeching

Falcon, no master, no cage, no traps

Screeching because birds glide to their own tunes

Trap escaped — now a birds truly set free.

100 Word Wednesday: Poem – Free Verse – “Sing me a Melody” #amwriting #100WordWednesday #poetry

Thanks to Bikurgurl for hosting #100WordWednesday’s on August 16, 2017. Poem for Oneta Hayes of the blog: Sweet Aroma

——–

Sing me a melody,

Write me a song.

Songs of celestial glory.

Of love that’s deep sweet.

Save me from the dark,

Inner demons disguised.

Write for me,

Crystal clear notes,

Ones angels simply respire.

Sing me a melody,

Calm and serene.

Of the cereulan blue sky,

Of hope in eternal life,

And time past misery.

Sing notes cascading,

Sung lentement with —

Unbending trust;

That those in “[D]arkness

Have seen a Great Light.”

Sing me a melody,

Tear drops on cheeks.

Of joy, deliverance —

Of liberty, and grace.

Sing harmoniously,

Or in a caphella.

With light’s pure —

Luminescent brilliance —

Never snuffing out.

Sing me a melody,

As light as air that trills.

Glimmering with sunbeams,

Ringing with care for hope.

Simg of vivacity,

Surpassing the dark of night.

Sing me a melody,

Of healing that restores.

Sing songs of bravery,

Of endurance.

Songs overcoming shadows,

And landing in the dawn.

Sing me a melody,

Bring me sweet relief.

Among beauteous architecture,

For all those times gone by.

Sing me a melody;

Surrounded by the skills,

Of artists and writers

So profound there work,

Sings me alive.

Sing me a melody,

For all I wish for is peace.

In sleep to hear,

Sonorous songs.

Transcendent, complex,

Yet, utterly simple as —

Those words that say,

“Be still.”

Dawn’s effervescent brilliance,

Twilight’s ease to ink.

Stars, indulgent jewels,

Delicate glass traced.

Universe brimming,

Nebulas gleaming.

Celestial diamonds.

Drifting where signs,

Vibrate without liberty.

Forget repression,

A soul weighted;

Ethereal form found.

Torn Chinese lanterns,

Flight imminent.

No more signs,

Imprisonment or labor.

Be done,

So I can glide,

Fingers stroking,

Celestial wings humming.

Tale Weaver Prompt: Poem – Wrapped Refrain – ” Fireworks Like Stars” #amwriting #poetry #newyears #taleweavers

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s Tale Weavers prompt: celebration and the New Year.

——

Oh brilliant star once gifted, you

Blow away all dark, you shine true.

Your colours effervescent, clear,

Holding eternity in lights sear.

The calm of night hidden, in sparkle with awe we live.

Stars erupting vivid, as seen in a child’s eyes bright.

—–

Dear child do you know, our country?

Is not young as she was once; won —

Her liberty from England with ease.

Didn’t as our Southern neighbours cease —

Their freedom; we grew from peaceful roots, we amplify,

Reason in the world for one-hundred-fifty-years nigh.

—–

So in this New Years night proudly,

Watch the sparklers light, the crowd —

Cheering as the stars burst red, white —

And crackle in the air to delight.

All people gathered to ring in twenty-seventeen,

The year of Our Lord, brilliant stars gleam.

—–

We’ve more than celestial stars,

Burning in the night milenias;

Milenias times millions more,

Kanada, “village,” country born.

A multiplicity of ethnicities know home,

Glowing fireworks alight the skies, ample colour shown.

—–

The stars are our fireworks, they

Light all our ways home, to know,

Such a gift we’ve been given, such —

Treasure fine: inspired and just,

Fire in the sky ignites majestic liquid lights,

Oh brilliant stars could we touch divinity this night?

“Young and Beautiful” – Lana Del Rey

——-

Such a wish have humans,

For the fountain of youth.

Retaining our vivacity,
Twenty-something good-looks.

To maintain an image of fresh faces,

Yet carry the wisdom age gains.

I think if we knew anything,

We’d know it’s a curse to be young forever.

For all such wisdom acquired in life,

There’s a price to be paid.

Experience taught and it —

Marked us with age spots,

With wrinkles and scars,

With under eye circles,

Nightmares and inner trauma.

Journeying through life we learned

Our lesson, or perhaps we haven’t yet?

When we are young,

We are carefree and full of vigor.

Not thoughtful in how we think or react,

No maturity, no flash of pain;

The liberty of youth suits the young.

But to be a man or woman-child with —

The eyes of our great-grandparents,

Bearing several lifetimes of burdens;

I think, for a mere human,

Would be too much grief to bear.

For the older we become,

We learn from birth we’re dying.

Life is a quest and it’s meant to end

We’re meant for the heavens,

Free of our lifetime of issues

Emotional, psychological, and physical decay,

The exhaustion of life.

The old realize when their time is coming —

That it is right.

A lifetime of sorrows, to have so many years,

Would break a soul completely;

Nevermind a physical body.

That’s why the young are beautiful,

Life hasn’t wounded them.

They are too ignorant to see —

Life isn’t meant on earth to be eternity —

The light shining to restore body, soul, and mind,

In heaven shines for all,

In timelessness we will be young,

All of us appearing how we ought;

No imperfections,

Perfect creations.

Handling both knowledge and beauty,

Eloquent and graceful;

Gods children thankful

And only those who die young,

When life is torn by accident

By atrocity and ill health,

(And the aged)

Understand this concept.

As their grandparents did or do,

Only the ill and dying, have vantage of this,

Life is so frail;

A wisp of a veil torn,

We’re all too busy living to see.
