The Writing 101 prompt for the second last day of the course, is to feature a guest. I will have Jacqueline from A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales doing a guest post interview in the coming days. Maybe, a week or two. So that’s when I will fulfill the prompt. For today I have a poem for you to enjoy.

The plastic,

Face of Ken Doll I —

Grew up with,

Playing Barbie,

His head nothing special, no —

Hair to comb; plastic.

—-

But I find,

Ken doll, he never–

Went away.

I see his —

Visage, the face of many —

Men; breathing and real.

—–

Yet I can’t,

Deal with the facts which —

Say the truth,

You’re alive–

So plastic, nothing could make–

You smile for real, yet —

—–

All I see,

Is eyes a fake shade,

Contact lens,

Enhanced blue,

Secrets beneath, hiding you,

Botox face, contorted.

—-
You do the —

Right things, say the right —

Words to speak.

But plastic,

Is cheap and replaceable,

Because beneath – nil.

—–

Deception,

It hides handsome grins,

Manipulate,

Barter lives,

Pirate at heart hiding guise,

Suit, Cologne, slick hair.

—-

Slick like you —

Secrets you’re keeping,

Putting up —

Your own front.

Hiding genuine you; tired —

Of being plastic.

Poem: Ghazal -“Newest Illusion”

A Ghazal is a poem that is made up like an odd numbered chain of couplets, where each couplet is an independent poem. It should be natural to put a comma at the end of the first line. The Ghazal has a refrain of one to three words that repeat, and an inline rhyme that precedes the refrain. Lines 1 and 2, then every second line, has this refrain and inline rhyme, and the last couplet should refer to the authors pen-name… The rhyming scheme is AA bA cA dA eA etc.

Please see Shadow Poetry for further information.

To explain this definition in my poem, ‘illusion’ is my repeating refrain and the word ‘trusting’ is the inline rhyme word that I’m working with in my poem for line A.

Mirage of sensations, not trusting your illusion.

Letting go, letting you in — difficult, just an illusion,

Words swimming in my mind, creatures of the depths in flight,

Begun ‘us,’ place my heart in your hands — I must; illusion.

Images of red, colour offends me from my past life,

Wobbly bridge, cross to you or stuck, you an illusion.

Travelling wisps in the darkness they kiss, ghostly mist.

Implies, in my dreams, I have to risk, not just illusions.

Fantasy helps me escape you’re real, you’re here.

Thoughts unravel typing, wonder must I see illusion?

Confusion alludes to facts, can’t trust my own heart beating so fast.

Around you I find, feeling lust I conclude, you’re illusion.

Days will pass, yesterday is past, don’t relax yet, sublimity.

Thunderstorm forming, anger conforms, rusty old illusion.

Moments they hinder, life from lingering as you drift on by,

Would you be my shelter, find in me hope and trust — illusion.

Our minds whirl, spin, all over the place, seeking a resting place.

Need you to be my peaceful place in life, not just illusion.

Wrapped in your arms, haven of warmth, hearts beating as one,

Didn’t know, what I know now, you’re a must, no illusion.

Sun Shine Blogger Award

Thank you again ClCouch123 for nominating me for this award. I know I pick and choose awards but sometimes I have time for them and sometimes I don’t. But lately, things have been less busy.

Sunshine Blogger Award

Here are the rules for this award:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you for the award.
2. Display the banner/sticker/logo on your blog.
3. Share 7 facts or things about yourself.
4. Nominate 5 bloggers that you admire and inform nominees by commenting on their blog.

Seven Facts About  Myself:

  1. I hate cats. I know some of you love them so much. But I hate them and it is annoying when you post photos of your cats all the time, everyday. (There I said it! I like you, just not your cat)
  2. I am very allergic to some cats to the point where I start wheezing (explains number 1)
  3. When I was 12 years old I went to the lake with my family and got second degree sunburns from being out in the water, even with sunscreen applied regularly.
  4. My mom or I did not realize the sun burn was so bad until I fell off a zip line at the camp ground towards the end and I fell on my back and it hurt so bad. The sunburn blistered and was amazingly red.
  5. I hate camping. All the bugs and I’m allergic to most of nature and especially if you have to camp in a tent, that is awful. Even beer or Bailey’s can’t improve that experience.
  6. My drink of choice when I was in university was a Vodka Slime or if their were a lot of people and my two bestfriends and I were trying to make it easy on the bartender — rye and ginger. I grew to appreciate it, it wasn’t my favourite but it got better as you drank it 🙂
  7. My favorite kind of chocolate is mint dark chocolate. Purdys makes some very good ones.

Nominations:

  1. Livings Disrobed – an awesome beauty blogger who totally shares my taste in makeup.
  2. Angela Eve – Who writes about her College Odyssey. She is writing a book and has some great pieces of writing between her studies.
  3. Angie Trafford – The World of words. She is an accomplished writer whose Flash fiction I always enjoy reading.
  4. Strange Lander 2015 – I am new to this blogger but I like her writing, she is very talented.
  5. S. Writings – Dollops of Heedful Ramblings. I am also new this blogger but her work is delightful.

Hope you can all accept the nominations but  if you can’t I understand.
