NaPoWriMo: Poem –  Dictionary Type – Rondeau – ” Prosody with Poetic Justice”

img_1070-2

And now for our prompt (optional, as always). Today, I challenge you to find, either on your shelves or online, a specialized dictionary. This could be, for example, a dictionary of nautical terms, or woodworking terms, or geology terms. Anything, really, so long as it’s not a standard dictionary! Now write a poem that incorporates at least ten words from your specialized source. Happy writing!

Please see NaPoWriMo for more information. For this challenge I’m using A Glossary of Literary Terms, 8e. by M.H. Abrams. This is probably not the latest edition but in whatever edition, it is an extremely useful book for writing.

Dues ex Machina, end the scene,

The god’s of Mythe choose, fate of dreams,

A simile using like or as gleams.

Resolve plot, in Ivory Towers,

Removed from everyday life using power,

Not caring that the little guy, still bleeds.

Perhaps, Malapropism proceeds,

Change the word, to one it resembles.

Comic effect, makes us laugh, howl.

Prosody with Poetic Justice.

Metaphysical Poets in their dreams,

Poetic style, John Donne revealed,

Figurative Language poet’s power,

Organizing poetic process, cower,

Complicated way to think, I believe.

Prosody with Poetic Justice.
