Flash Fiction For Aspiring Writers – Part 6 The End – A Whisp in the Wind

Dear Bernice,

As I stand here at your grave I can’t believe you were right, Davey was trying to kill me. I just wish he hadn’t gotten to you first.

Six months ago I took off on a horse having been raped by Davey and arrived at a police station. I was given a rape kit at the nearest hospital and evidence of Davey’s DNA was taken from my body. Davey was already in the polices’ system and they matched the DNA on my body to his.

At his ranch, they found a hunting knife with your blood on it and a sawed off shot gun which he admitted he was eventually going to kill me with.

It’s not fair Bernice, that your ghost should save me and we should find your body in a fridge in Davey’s basement as if you weren’t a person, my sister. I love you forever and think I am going away from my condo for awhile, maybe up to San Francisco, I always wanted a house there.

Jackie

Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers – Part 5 – A Whisp in the Wind

Jackie awoke terribly cold and hurting. It was then, suddenly, that Jackie realized where she was, Davey’s Ranch. She gasped at the wedding ring on her finger and groaned in pain from the soreness between her thighs.

All Jackie knew was she had to get away from the Ranch house it was too far out in the wilderness. A woman could disappear forever out here. She spied Davey asleep on the couch next to a bottle of Jack in their old bedroom. Jackie was on the floor admist bed sheets and her torn bridal dress.

She arose quietly, reached into a drawer not surprised to find her own clothes, and put on leggings and a top. Jackie slipped on an old pair of her cowboy boots at the door and although it pained her greatly, she lept atop a quiet and calm horse called Ella out in the field and as soon as she was away from the house broke into a gallop back towards the city and the hospital. If anyone could tell Jackie had been drugged and raped, the hospital and police could.

Davey drove Jackie home and opened the front door. He took her upstairs to her bedroom and told her to pack for a sunny destination. Jackie dare not argue, she had seen the gun in Davey’s jacket pocket. Davey brought up some wine for them both to drink. He opened the bottle and poured her a glass. She guzzled it down without thinking. Davey chuckled and Jackie began to feel woozy.

The next event Jackie remembered was having her hair and makeup done and being buttoned into a diaphanous silk and lace white gown. Next, she recalled saying her vows to Davey on a beautiful beach. It was if her own life was occurring from a distance.

She came to as Davey was feeding her and she was eating hungrily from his murderous hands. She began to scream and kick and Davey took her jaw and forced a glass of champagne down her throat. Then, when Davey had Jackie almost naked and she couldn’t move, Davey got on top of her holding her arms above her head while he took advantage of her. The last thing she remembered thinking was why why there were fish in the wall. Little white ones and that they were as trapped as her the again Mrs. Davey Harrison.

Flash Fiction For Aspiring Writers Part 3: A Whisp  in The Wind.

Jackie never saw Bernice again after her terrifying revelation to Jackie at the gazebo. She cut her dark mane short and put large blonde highlights in her hair. Davey could be anywhere. She stopped dressing fashionably and moved her entire belongings to a condo in a neighbourhood not far from a sandy beach called Quiet Harbor Beach.

Walking along the surf one afternoon she saw a group of boys in dark khaki uniforms. They asked her to take a picture of them and Jackie obliged. The boys hugged her and kissed her on the cheek, a proper thank you in their culture and left Jackie to wander.

Suddenly the hairs on Jackie’s neck began to prickle. She started running and knew it was too late for her to get anywhere when Davey tackled Jackie to the ground. ” Go away, and get off me Davey,” Jackie said. She began to kick and flail her limp body but Davey growled and told her to stop fighting him. ” I have a restraining order on you,” Jackie said angrily.

Davey shrugged on top of of her and laughed. ” I don’t want to hurt you Jackie but I will if you don’t cooperate” Davey whispered in her ear. There was no one around to Jackie’s distress and Davey pulled her to her feet and brushed the sand off her. ” I just want you back, we maybe divorced but half of the money your grandfather left you is mine. Rich old bastard.” And half the money Bernice left you too is mine. Just because we’re divorced doesn’t mean that you can hoard that kind of cash” He stroked Jackie’s hair and cheek and Jackie almost threw up.

” Yes, we’re going to be a happy family, in time you will learn to love me again.”

” You killed my sister” you asshole, screamed Jackie.

” I did and I don’t know how you know but it’s our little secret Jackie. The same could happen to you” murmured Davey and he stroked a circle around her throat. Jackie began to cry but Davey picked her up none too gently and shoved her in his Jaguar. He buckled her up, locked the doors and drove Jackie away to God knows where.
