#OctPoWriMo Day 31/Sunday Writing Prompt: Poem — “Plain Sight” #amwritingpoetry #SundayWritingPrompt #MLMM

For OctPoWriMo Day 31 the Prompt is the word endless. I’m combining with MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Sunday Writing Prompt based on the Sylvia Plath letter quote: “I talk to God, but the sky is empty.” so glad to be done OctPoWriMo two-months later. It took awhile, but I’m happy it’s done in time for Christmas. Lol.

Words in the tumbled breeze,

Chatter of birds in early light;

Blinding my ears to fright.

Intense azure glows, I cover my eyes;

It burns, it burns,

What a fright, what a fright.

Restless, my ears ringing as if I’ve spent all night,

With giant speakers, there jarring blare.

And oh, my eyes how they sting,

Such terrible light blinds me in fear.

How can such gleaming light be wonderful?

For me, it’s a curse.

No afternoon delight, but hellish nightmare.

The hammer’s swift; I the rock pit —

It’s pulsing, the rhythmic pain seething.

Lips moaning pleas,

Make it stop, but its unceasing.

Not after strong coffee as my stomach lurches,

Nor over toast I spit-out disgusted.

My skin, elephant tusks envy such paler.

No wine or liquor could cause,

A tinge so blue as the veins in my wrist.

Such hopelessness,

A putrid cycle of faithlessness.

Once I believed, now I am lost;

Lamb to the slaughter, must I too sputter?

Have my heart carved,

Gurgling water, blood in the tide.

But the tawny bird near my ear,

He flew inside my broken pane.

He cocks his stubborn head,

Eyes rapid; he mutters, words pained.

His left wing slops,

Tossed from the nest, now he rests near me.

I’ve not the heart to twist his neck,

Though his wing be his death.

But oh, he chirps, eyes rapid,

He sings despite his tepid clawed-steps.

Tiny talons gripping my pillow.

He sings, peers outside,

Aware he can’t fly;

We both can’t.

So, we stare in confusion,

Peering at each other, eye to eye.

Both defenselessness,

We know will soon be cut down.

Yet, while I groan, bird tweets,

The funniest chirps, as if conversing.

He’s livid until I arise, bring him a saucer;

Sups his water, munches sunflower seeds.

He try’s to flutter, my heart leaps —

He flails to the floor.

His eyes see cerulean horizons,

Not wretched revolt.

I’m mad at God,

He made the bird disabled.

But as I curse — bird’s tawny head shakes, beak twerps.

It occurs to me,

He sees more than ‘something’ out there.

If he can chatter at me unperturbed by my size,

Then, fling himself towards the sky —

Only to fall,

Perhaps than, faith can also fly again?

If God can mend my wounded heart,

With nails, grit embedded deep,

Can my feathered mate,

Have his wing set straight?

Perhaps, yes?

Then we can both soar,

And peer to the azure, the Heavens.

Recognize that this ‘something,’

Isn’t intangible, isn’t hiding,

It’s in plain sight,

Crystalline truth sudden,

In opulent morning breeze.

#NovemberNotes Day 13 /Music Challenge: Poem – San San – “Siren’s Light” #amwriting #poetry #musicchallenge

For NovemberNotes Day 13 the song is “If I Be Wrong” By Wolf Larson. I’m combining with another music Prompt from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie and the song “Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip.

“If I Be Wrong” by Wolf Larson

——

Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip

——

Climbing the tree, talking, sitting before we were silent,

Illusions of tomorrow’s casting flames of gold resilient.

Silent sitting dragging you here into my darkest night.

I could be wrong, maybe I lied, the fissure more widens,

What if we’re wrong, if we’re an endless song, without brilliance?

Silent, we’re sitting alone, no dress rehearsal for life.

Hornet’s toxin seething, luring us to the siren’s light.

Wrongly fleeing, ten thousand cars, roads; leaving, taking flight.

#NovemberNotes Day 11: Poem – Quadrille – “No Us Anymore” #amwriting #poetry #dVerse

For November Notes Day 11 the song is “What About Us” by P!NK. I’m combining prompts with Mish from #dVerse Poet’s Pub Quadrille poetry form prompt using the word/theme rock.

What About Us” – P!nk

—–

Searchlights in dimness,

Stars gleaming pixies.

Billions of beautiful hearts,

Thumping strong;

What about us?

No happily ever after.

Riddled with problems,

No reconfiguring.

We are but children,

Crying for love.

Flames hovering,

In darkness;

Why must we maintain —

Rock hard control?

Let’s be free,

To let go.

There’s no us anymore.

#OctPoWriMo Day 23/TaleWeavers: Poem – Free Verse – “Curses and Betrayels” #amwriting #poetry #taleweavers

For OctPoWriMo Day 23 the Prompt is on the Greek Mythology tale of Iris the Godess or Rainbows and Arke her twin sister and what is the message of their tale.  I’m combining this with the Tale Weavers prompt making sense of nonsense, using the nonsensical word cloppsright from Michael of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie

Credit: Mahkeo via Unsplash

——-

Cloppsright, a definition,

A stereo type;

What they swear.

Not the lively,

Iris’s fresh brilliance,

Providing hope,

After the storm.

I’m but a shape,

The form an arch;

One fallen,

A woman of sin.

Cloppsright, the curse.

Most use the ‘F’ word these days,

But it used to describe,

Their thoughts,

On a goddesses betrayal.

Chapped lips snarling, learing,

At my black corsettes, ruby red gowns,

Too showy, such a whore

A little cloppsright

Nothing compared to her radiance,

Iris the light.

The brightness of painting pigments.

A sky of azure vivacity,

She’s utter joy.

I’m the darkness,

That seeps inbetween good,

Twisting its form.

The feeling in a room,

Causing you to shiver,

Your hair to rise on end,

When the house is quiet,

When floorboards creak,

My thoughts of loathing,

Of disgust, wreck the night.

For I am the tempestuous storm,

And she is the finale,

The glory of a promise made and kept.

Betrayal is a poison,

And she is but an Iris

A beaming delight, a flower.

But I’m more than an Arke

Shaping lights reflection.

Let her compose and carry,

Her own color.

I’ve torn myself from the sky,

The darker twin.

The seductive cloppsright so fallen,

Nature’s disgrace;

Yet still there is power,

In the silence,

Of grim nights,

Before your fears become real;

My messages bring death

Swear and say cloppsright,

Curse me in your native tongue.

For Iris she withers and Arke rises,

Up into the angry heavens.

Notable Quotes Part One September 2017 #pinterest #quotes

Happy mid- September! I hope life is treating everyone well. I have always loved the fall although I also always miss the summer,the festivals, outdoor markets, the sun high in the sky at 11:00 p.m. I miss sipping sangria, cosmopolitans, bellinies, and Caesars on the patio at various bars and restaraunts. My favorite thing where I live is when bars and restaurants make their patio larger in the summer months. It’s a temporary thing but it’s fun.

Autumn has its own remarkable beauty and hopefully nice weather until at least mid- November. But we’re not always that lucky here. Anyways, today’s quotes are Harry Potter themed, them returning to school in Fall as most kids and University students do.  J.K. Rowling was/is a wise lady.

Cheers,

Tale Weavers: Poem – Quadrille – “Knock on Wood” #amwriting #poetry #dVerse #taleweavers

Thanks to Lorraine of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting her last Tale Weavers Prompt. Bravo Lorraine you will be missed. Her prompt theme is superstitions. I’m combining this prompt with Bodhirose from Poet’s Pub #dVerse open link night.

Knock on wood,

What if the expected —

Won’t be?

Knock on wood,

Vulgar spirits disperse,

Snake slither down.

Knock on wood,

We’re all superstitious,

Chase back wickedness.

Knock on wood,

So, life remains sweet.

Knock on wood,

Never laugh at the Fates,

Your string’s taut.

Knock on wood,

As did our —

Grandparents of old.

100 Word Wednesday: Poem – Free Verse – “Sing me a Melody” #amwriting #100WordWednesday #poetry

Thanks to Bikurgurl for hosting #100WordWednesday’s on August 16, 2017. Poem for Oneta Hayes of the blog: Sweet Aroma

——–

Sing me a melody,

Write me a song.

Songs of celestial glory.

Of love that’s deep sweet.

Save me from the dark,

Inner demons disguised.

Write for me,

Crystal clear notes,

Ones angels simply respire.

Sing me a melody,

Calm and serene.

Of the cereulan blue sky,

Of hope in eternal life,

And time past misery.

Sing notes cascading,

Sung lentement with —

Unbending trust;

That those in “[D]arkness

Have seen a Great Light.”

Sing me a melody,

Tear drops on cheeks.

Of joy, deliverance —

Of liberty, and grace.

Sing harmoniously,

Or in a caphella.

With light’s pure —

Luminescent brilliance —

Never snuffing out.

Sing me a melody,

As light as air that trills.

Glimmering with sunbeams,

Ringing with care for hope.

Simg of vivacity,

Surpassing the dark of night.

Sing me a melody,

Of healing that restores.

Sing songs of bravery,

Of endurance.

Songs overcoming shadows,

And landing in the dawn.

Sing me a melody,

Bring me sweet relief.

Among beauteous architecture,

For all those times gone by.

Sing me a melody;

Surrounded by the skills,

Of artists and writers

So profound there work,

Sings me alive.

Sing me a melody,

For all I wish for is peace.

In sleep to hear,

Sonorous songs.

Transcendent, complex,

Yet, utterly simple as —

Those words that say,

“Be still.”

Three Line Tales: Friday Night Lights #amwriting #fiction #3LineTales

Thanks to Sonya of Only 100 Words for hosting #3LineTales.

Far off in the distance we gaze at the fluorescent lights glowing, electric candles vibrant and magnificent as we sit on our roof, watching the players tackle each other on the mega screen. The announcer’s voice booms and the sky lights up even more with the pop and scattered explosion of our team’s colors in fireworks; they’ve scored another touch down so we toast to their success.

When the game is won the fluorescent lights remain luminiscient in the darkness and accompanied by the brilliance of the stars; sometimes we wish we had tickets to that game now hours ago, but our view from the roof of our house is priceless — it also doesn’t cost $20.00 a beer, not even $20.00 a case.

Poem: Bop – “For A Spark” #poetry #dVerse #amwriting

Thanks to Paul Scribbles of Poet’s Pub for hosting the #dVerse prompt on “the end.”

———

Credit: Roksolana Zasiadko via Unsplash

——–

The end is never the end. It’s always the the beginning of something.” ― Kate Lord Brown, The Perfume Garden

——-

There once was a beginning, but for us, I think;

We never were, until we were, created in a blink.

Once upon a time there was the Word,

The Word was God; It was with Him to be heard.

All was darkness but the Word was the light

The Word was the cure, it was omniscient insight.

Every spark becomes darkness, but His fire brings dawn.

In the first beginning, his light lit uncountable sparks,

That eternal, all-knowing ‘start’ burning through the dark.

Where beginnings take place; journeys are revealed,

Where life is born, ideas form, the masked are unconcealed.

Beginings that inspire and conspire to grow and leap,

Sparks choosing to expire, or to burn on in the deep.

There is the ‘lighter’ of the spark and the ‘spark’ itself;

Knowledge too that sparks turned cinders, have eternal help.

Every spark become darkness, but His spark brings dawn.

Who knows of endings but that they’re already won,

The ‘Candle-snuffer’ futile fights, his end already come.

He decided his ending forever, when our spark was new,

He’s the one temptation slithered, damnation to all construed.

The eternal light is present, no cinders who ask will end up ash,

Faith is fuel that forever burns, so the term ‘end’ has passed.

Every spark becomes darkness, but His spark brings dawns.
