Poem: Absolut Apeach – with Song and Dance

I don’t know what the future holds, it’s vapour and ash in the palm of my hand. I try to tell myself, time will tell, but my thoughts are a muse that inspires; the present feels like I’m singing an epicedium, a word that has meaning to mourn;

It’s so challenging to be sitting here and waiting for the funeral to end; hello, Adele, can you hear me crank up something with a beat and dancing feet will swarm. I am looking for that lamp that always guides my feet, to take me out of depressing hymns and into the feelings of the warm breath of dawn, and life, and being a part of something outside myself and my musings.

Sing a cheerful song, grab a partner and make a connection, a reflection in the looking glass; the print of today’s paper is bigger, but so was last night’s complications, corrections, don’t be so dull or forlorn. I am waiting for such answers, a teacher marking tests, never finding the perfect words, until one student finally understands the form. And with all of this frantic writing, we need translation we need more words, slang, and hyperbolation is the night’s score;

A rhythm finally knocking, some tapping, the sound of a thousand voices humming, to the typing of a sentence, say the right words, let learning explode. Implosions are the stars delight, it implies a meaning that can be found, in the exestential crisis explained by all this science; faith is not only one word.

And you might go hopping quietly down the rabbit hole, but drink the tea and eat the cakes, now your bonkers it’s too late; in all the madness, and hats that we wear in life, to let the mouse out of the tea pot and bring peace to so much, guiless sneaks evil, in the form of mockery, and jesting — it’s just a joke that a cat can only understand.

If we pick up some beats, will slumber cease, can I find some elaboration? One time, on hellos, and goodbyes. I’m not coming back, the grass is greener here. Don’t you know that’s not always just some saying, to keep people from being escapists and running to the otherside.

Ground at our boots, lets let the melody unfold in loops, candy canes on parade, no Christmas yet; there’s snow to make us tremble, the semblance of the night is roughly raging and you can’t just go inside you need to stay and improvise; it’s a party for the roaring of the singing voices, and those that dance suggested.

I implore you listen and read into the gestures made awkwardly by the person talking; can you think for yourself, see the truth in motions, not emotion, that could be fake; no liars here, they can disappear. They are oblivious to these simple truths we hold so dear, keep the bell ringing for tonight we gain a truth; instead of lies, it’s a surprise, now appear. Bow low before the crowd you’ve enchanted with a voice so clear.

Poem:  Sonnet – Get Out Tonight

Half awake  girl, in your night time world;

Got to get out tonight, got to dance, got to whirl.

There’s no time for sleep, find your makeup and curls;

Got to get out tonight, got to dance, got to whirl.

Night time girl, catch the laughter and cheer;

Got to get out tonight, got to dance, got to whirl.

Sweet-heart turned to heartbreaker, have another beer;

Got to get out tonight, got to dance, got to whirl.

Lady of the dawn, drink water, take Advil;

Got to get on home, got to sleep, everything whirls.

All your girls are passing out, the morning comes still;

Got to get on home, got to sleep, everything whirls.

Half awake girl, in your night time world;

Stay home tonight, watch Netflix, things still whirl.

Poetry: Dancing Into Light

I do not jest when I request, please don’t break my heart again.
And we move on in the steps of the dance, the game of life we play,
Begun again and shifted, sorted, sifted from the steps we danced before we fought — before summer hit us as bricks that fall from tall buildings up high.
Oh, what a surprise it is to step these new techniques and follow the footprints that many will trod.
But fear is a feeling hard to misplace, did I make the correct decision, revision, conditions to change — the course that lies before us and fine tune the game.

If I am a part of you, then you are a part of me; we are no longer apart from each other.
That was a twist to think that we could be after all this fighting, flight, forging for truth.
If you could just talk to me then I think we would see eye to eye, I think you’d see my soul if you looked hard enough.
It wants to understand you, to find the path that we must wander together.
It has a need to comprehend what little dips we must take to continue the dance; how many times can we trip without being told to get off the dance floor and walk away.
I mind that communication is difficult because dancers must keep in count 1,2,3,4 and 1,2,3,4 just to match their feet.
Keep your steps aligned with mine, tell me what’s on your mind so that we can continue to spin and flip and practice the moves the most faithful make.
Faithfulness occurs in action not by not only cheating but by staying attuned both you and I to each other and this music we call our lives.

So you are away and I needed to think but it wasn’t long before I took you back.
Decided to stop breaking pace to shimmy and shake as we take our place and step in time to the method, the song.
I always thought you were the one to slide with me as fireworks explode rushing up and smashing light into the sky, raining diamonds on the floor.
And moving this pace isn’t always easy, if I step on your feet, and you step on mine, were bound to become angry to react and retry to gain a connection, a tempo, a beat — to make the rhythm that is required of us.
We must bend and be flexible, be patient, be sincere, and take the steps as they come and move to the magic that occurs so little in life.
A thousand moments sunset bright to make it through to darkness into light.

Beyonce: Singing a Song to Make A Dying Girl’s Wish Reality

Yesterday, I was particularly touched by singer Beyonce Knowles who granted the wish of a 12-year old girl dying from cancer from an inoperable brain tumor. It made me proud that Beyonce would be willing to share her talent and her time with someone so meek and in some people’s awful view, a lost cause. Beyonce went beyond simply caring and actually made a beautiful important girl’s wish come true.

Taylon Davis made a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation to sing a song and dance with Beyonce. In Las Vegas, Beyonce, at her Mrs. Carter tour, made Taylon’s wish reality. Days after learning she would attend the concert, Taylon found herself face to face and embraced by her beloved pop-star Beyonce while Beyonce sang to her ‘Survivor’ from Beyonce’s days with former group ‘Destiny’s Child.’

‘Survivor’s’ lyrics held great meaning for Taylon, especially the words, ” I’m a survivor / I’m gonna make it / I will Survive / Keep on Surviving.” Said McGregor of the Philanthropy Program Partnerships, ” Here’s a little girl literally fighting for her life, [t]omorrows not promised, next weeks not promised, but now [Taylon thinks] I’m here, [and s]ince I’m here I might as well live(Michael Walsh).

On Christmas Eve, Beyonce released the video of the performance and Taylon’s story on YouTube. This is not the first time Beyonce has done a touching song and dance with one of her fans. In November, Beyonce performed ‘Irreplaceable’ with a blind 13-year old girl from Australia (Toronto Star, Wenn.com).

It was incredibly touching to watch the videos Beyonce released on Taylon and their song together, not only because Beyonce was giving a wonderful generous experience to Taylon during a season of giving but because Beyonce was giving Taylon hope. Hope I think, is one of the greatest gifts you can give someone, especially a child, and even if it is only the hope that Taylon will live out the rest of her young life with fantastic memories and people who love her such as her family. Maybe even a pop-superstar actually cares about Taylon because Beyonce is willing to give Taylon her time, voice, and dancing to aid Taylon in achieving her dreams.

I can’t imagine being in Taylon’s place, knowing you don’t have much time left in this world but are so young that you have barely experienced what it is to live. On the other hand, perhaps it is enviable that Taylon will not go through more pain than her cancer because she will only live such a short time. Either way, I think Taylon is a strong and brave 12-year old girl and I think Beyonce is the perfect role model for someone her age to show her how to keep on fighting to the end and to spend time with those she loves and live all the dreams she can fit into her young life.
