Spring Luxebox 2017 #beauty #health #luxebox

My spring Luxebox arrived today. In the past, I’ve liked Luxebox a great deal. I’ve enjoyed their variety of products and all the different brands I’ve been able to try. But, I have to admit I’ve been disappointed the last two times I’ve received this beauty box. Especially this last time, I’ve received more half of the items before.

Luxebox used to gave the option for you to upgrade for an extra $6.00 or $7.00 to receive a themed beauty box with more useful items and better brands with more makeup. I think I’ll be searching for another beauty box to try since there are so many other ones out there now. Anyways, here are the items I received in this Luxebox.

——

New Item – I actually loved this felt tip liquid eyeliner. It’s called: Eyeko London – Eye de Liquid Eyeliner – Waterproof and Lash Enhancing – http://www.eyeko.com

——-

Repeat Item – But not a bad repeat because it’s BENEFIT, but I’ll have to use a waterproof mascara overtop – Item: Benefit They’re Real Beyond Mascara

——-

New Items – The Beauty Crop – Lightening Crew Highlighting Cream – Nourished with Pinapple and green Tea — Excited to try this actually; 2nd Item: Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat – always useful!

——-

Repeat Items – Dove Advanced Regenerative Nourishing Serum for hair; Dove Advanced Series Conditioner; and Dove Advanced Series Shampoo with Red Algae Complex — Dove is great for deodorant, antiperspirants, soap, or body wash but their hair products suck!

——-

Repeat – Nova Scotia Fisherman Extreme Skin Care in Fundy Clay & Mint — this is soap for guy, not a woman; New Item – Doucce – Red Lipstick (824) – Nice Lipstick but it’s the wrong red for me and the outside of the tube was dirty

——-

Bamboo Sprout Novex – Leave in Conditioner – Growth and Strength — not a bad product, it’s good for extra conditioning but it’s nothing special and I really didn’t want more!

——-

Cake Desserted Island Supreme Body Mousse and Coupon — I love Cake products they moisturuze so well. It is a two time repeat of the brand but it’s great stuff so no complaints.

———

New Item –Colgate Optic White Tooth Brush and Built In Whitening Pen — actually a great Item to include, extra tooth brushes are always great to have around!

Topbox November 2016 #beautybox #beauty

November 2016’s Topbox had four major items. You can check them out below:

——

1.

China Glaze Nail Polish in Blue-Ya! It seems extremely dark but it’s sparkly! Maybe a good shade for an accent nail?

——

2.

Lip Fusion Plump and Shine Lipstick in La Femme – The Perfect Nude shade actually and it does moisturize and smooth your lips. It feels nice on!

——

3.

Bella Aura Skincare – Antioxidant Booster Cream – haven’t tried it. I’m always extremely careful with the skincare products I use!

——

4.

Bamboo Sprout Leave In Conditioner for Growth and Strength – big sample 110g and hair feels soft, but not overly impressed. Tried this brand before meh! But I will use it up.

——

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for Luxebox later this month. Luxebox has more beauty items, but is only quarterly. The Winter 2016/2017 Box is coming!

Luxebox: September 2016 – Trends Box #beautybox #beauty #skincare #haircare

I was lucky this month. I received two Luxebox’s for the price of one Luxebox. So the first Luxebox I received is called Trends Box and it has common but for the most part, well working skincare and hair care products, you could find at most any drugstore. So they aren’t expensive which is nice. But for instance, beyond their deodarent and skincare products, I’ve never found Dove hair care products to be any good. But it’s all a matter of opinion. Tomorrow I will post my regular Luxebox products, beyond this extra box of goodies.

——–

1.

Dove New Dry Spray Anti-Perspirant in Soothing Chamomile (I like this very much!)

——-

2.

Simple Sensitive Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes – Tough on Makeup – Gentle On Skin (Also, like this product a lot. So soothing and gentle!)

——-

3.

Vaseline Intensive Care for Healthy Hands and Stronger Nails (Wonderful product I’ve used it for years. Great to keep at your desk, or near your work area).

——–

4.

Dove Advanced Hair Series Regenerative Nourishment Conditioner and Shampoo (Not a huge fan of Dove haircare but I’ll keep them for sleepovers!)

——-

5.

Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash with Nutririum Moisture (I do lov their bodywashes). Also, Dove Advanced Hair Series Regenerative Nourishment Serum in Oil (I only use oil on the ends of my hair to tame fly aways. i guess this will work?).

——-

6.

Vasaline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter – Helps Heal Dry Lips (Have to try this yet!)

——–

TRESemme Expert Selection Perfectly (Un) Done Waves – New Sea Salt Spray with Kelp Extract (I’m super picky about haircare products. Generally, you get what you pay for, however; sea salt is a pretty basuc product so I’m hoping this product is usable for me since I now have two!)

——

Thank you for reading! Tomorrow I’ll show you m actual Luxebox, he one I ordered. This was just an extra perk box!

Saturday Matters

www.kobo.com
http://www.kobo.com

I have been trying to stay busy as classes have wrapped up for me. The last couple years has ended in spring with me and a bunch of ebooks to read. I am reading  Grey the Fifty Shades Grey from Christian’s point of view. I like it because it’s interesting to have his view on Ana and I dislike it for the same reason. At times he is in such awe of Anastasia and wonders how she could have a good effect on him. At other times I just wish he’d keep his perverted dirty mind to himself because unlike Ana’s view of the story, you’re not just seeing a sweet mostly tolerant Christian, your also seeing a dark sometimes gross and misspoken Christian in his thoughts. I’m positive guys are the more perverted sex in real life, in Grey most definitely. What would interest me more was to see what he is thinking when he has changed and decided not to be the dominant but the loving boyfriend who wants to marry Ana. That would share the sweetness of the original books. And I just found out today E.L. James is indeed planning to do Fifty Shades Darker  from Christian’s view, so for that I am happy.

It’s Ramadan and I detest it a bit as holy as it is for Muslims. To me this just means forty days where I hardly get to see my boyfriend. And if I do it’s 11:00 pm at night and difficult if not impossible some nights to stay up and see him. Plus, I really do not think it’s healthy that he is not drinking water during the day, especially in hot weather or in his hot apartment. He tells me he is use to it but I still don’t believe that that is healthy.

I have to decide on something new in school. I want to do Creative Writing but an MFA is so expensive. A certificate is expensive so I might as well get the MFA. Editing is just not for me I am not that detailed and I can’t get my marks above or at a seventy. That’s not good for editing. I’m just more of a writer I suppose. But the good news is I have finally found someone at the University of Alberta willing to work with me to finish my last course in Residential Design so I can get that Certificate from home and not have to go to class because I can’t do the night classes. I will be taking History of Furnishings and doing my own studying at home and going in the day to write the exams. Any assignments I will also hand in in the day to the Liberal Studies office. So, that’s something exciting. After, I think I will just look for more writing courses. Simon Fraser University still had some writing courses you could take online but not in their Certificate for Creative Writing. For now, that might be a good idea until I can do my MFA in Creative Writing at UBC.

I’ve also started a new feature on my blog Literary Lion on my blog by I am Smith on Wednesday’s. It’s a 400 word story based on a word prompt. It’s great to have the freedom to write more and if anyone wants to join please check out one of my Literary Lion blogs for the link at the bottom of the page to Laura’s page. This is also means I have a ton more reading to do along with my Tuesday feature Flash Fiction For Aspiring Writers so I will do my best to read all that I can and comment but if I miss you one week I’m sorry.

Also, I am a big fan of Lush products. If you love natural products that are lovely for your

skin and hair I encourage you try them. I recently got a purple shampoo (for blond and grey hair) and a great nourishing conditioner. Plus, I don’t think I have ever written to you about their lip scrub so that blog to come as soon as I get around to it as well as a makeup blog of a few odds and ends.

That’s all for now.

Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Wash and Rinse

I decided to try a new shampoo and conditioner last time I was at the hair salon: Hydrate Me Rinse and Hydrate Me Wash both by Kevin Murphy and are kaka du plum infused. Both came in 250 mL bottles that lasted a little longer than a month.

Hydrate Me Wash is for normal to dry hair and creates a ” silky” feeling in your hair and hair that is “sensual to the touch.” It is a E A moisturizing shampoo and I was quite pleased with how the shampoo worked. It created a good lather and left my hair feeling squeaky clean. It did not take too much shampoo per use, maybe about a quarter size, and it lasted slightly longer than the conditioner. The one thing I did not like about the shampoo is that it had a slightly chemically smell and I prefer my shampoo to smell good such as apple or just good old clean shampoo scent.

Hydrate me Rinse is an E A moisturizing conditioner that “hydrates” and “infuses” hair with “moisture and gloss.” It is also for normal to dry hair. Although the conditioner too was slightly chemically, it was nice and thick something I love to see in a hydrating shampoo because I know it will work well and soak into the strands of your hair fantastically. I was not disappointed. This conditioner is super moisturizing but it did take quite a bit of conditioner per use to put in your hair, about a tablespoon. Because of this fact, it used up slightly faster then the shampoo.

All in all, both were excellent products from the hair salon and my only complaint is the chemically smell, but this was not bad enough for me not to use them or try them again. They were a bit pricey at about $30.00 for each 250 mL bottle so I think it’s more the kind of shampoo and conditioner you use only a couple of times a week along with something else.

Beauty Products: Bobbi Brown Foundation/NARS Concealer/Living Proof Shampoo and Conditioner

www.sephora.ca Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15
http://www.sephora.ca
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15

1. Bobbie Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 – $55.00 – Sephora – Bobbie Brown Skin Foundation is one of the best foundations I have tried in a long time. I wanted a foundation that looked like my skin but still covered blemishes or redness. It is exactly this that Bobbi Brown promises: ” [a] truly modern foundation that offers invisible, weightless coverage that looks like skin, not makeup.” There are 20 different shades of this foundation to choose as well. This is great for me because I am often lighter than the lightest foundation colour many foundation lines have. So, with Bobbi brown I was able to choose their lightest colour 00 Alabaster. Moreover, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is a ” long-wearing formula [that] evens [skin] tone, minimizes the appearance of pores, conceals imperfections, and offers broad-spectrum UV protection. Its hydrating technology leaves skin feeling cushioned, comfortable, and clean.” It also leaves offers a light-medium coverage and is ideal for all skin types. I absolutely love this foundation and will continue to use it as my everyday foundation of choice. The only bad thing I can say about this foundation is that it is a runny. But a quarter size amount will cover your skin and hide any imperfections despite how light and runny the foundation is.

2. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – Sephora – $35,00 – I was looking for a concealer

www.sephora.ca NARS Creamy Concealer
http://www.sephora.ca
NARS Creamy Concealer

similar to Lancome’s creamy concealer but not as prone to cause oily skin.  NARS creamy concealer is a bit cheaper and it works just as effectively to cover blemishes, highlight skin, and cover under eye circles. It also comes in 10 different shades including a really fair ivory colour for me which is even lighter than my foundation. Sephora describes it as a” [a] creamy concealer with hydrating, multiaction skincare benefits and light diffusing technology to create a softer, smoother complexion.” It is also hydrating and luxuriously smooth, it layers lightly for buildable medium-to-full coverage and a natural luminous finish. The multiactive botanical blend hydrates, firms, reduces redness, and strengthens the skin by helping its barrier retain vital moisture. It also ” delivers antioxidant protection to protect the skin against damaging free radicals.

Skin becomes visibly smooth, soft, and more even-toned. Mineral tone balancing powder works to optically correct, not mask, imperfections to keep skin looking flawless. A single stroke of Radiant Creamy Concealer keeps the complexion looking fresh and creaseless. It goes on smoothly, blends easily, and stays in place all day. Comfortable and hydrated, skin glows with new radiance over or under foundation and looks beautiful—even when bare”  Additionally, NARS Creamy Concealer is free of Parabens, Pthalates, and Sulfates. I am definitely ordering this foundation again as it is less greasy than the Lancomes one and the colors are perfect my skin tone. Not to mention it helps to save a few dollars on a product such as concealer.

Living Proof Shampoo and Conditioner

3. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner – Sephora – 8 0z. $30.00 each – When I first saw these products the number one thing that disappointed me about them was their size. For $30.00 I think you should be receiving a decent sized shampoo and conditioner but these were quite small and I imagine they will only last me until the end of the month. That being said, they are awesome shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo cleans very well and leaves your hair feeling so soft and the conditioner is very smoothing and conditioning and my hair feels soft and moisturized after I use it. My hair is not fly away and it does not take that much of each of the shampoo or conditioner to use in your hair each time. If it weren’t for the price per quantity I would buy this shampoo and conditioner all the time. And it does actually improve your hair over time as the bottle states. Sephora says that this shampoo and conditioner is ” [f]ormulated for all hair types, this product is oil- and silicone-free. PHD Shampoo and Conditioner provide superior detangling to traditional shampoos and conditioners. PHD Shampoo, Conditioner, and Styling Treatment regimen reduces breakage by 78 percent, making hair four and a half times stronger. This product is an Allure Best of Beauty winner.” So, it’s up to you on whether you would spend the money on this Shampoo and Conditioner or not.

Alterna Bamboo Hair Products

www.sephora.ca
http://www.sephora.ca

1. Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray ($28.50 –  What I love about this product is that you only need a very little to put in shoulder length hair and it not only makes your hair so it will not be frizzy or fly away but it is also an excellent styling spray so that if you want a bit of volume in your hair this is an effective Thermal Protectant Spray to buy.

A great aspect of Alterna products, particularly, the Bamboo products, are that they are good for your hair because they are without harmful chemicals such as Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosan. The ingredients are fair trade complaint, eco-certified, and certified organic. Not only that but the product is guaranteed to prevent hair breakage by 87% (Sephora.ca). I really enjoy using this product and find it lasts a long time and is completely worth the price. By far one of the best thermal protectants I have used.

2. Bamboo Abundant Volume Shampoo ($25.50) – Not only is this Shampoo like the

www.sephora.ca
http://www.sephora.ca

thermal protectant, environmentally friendly and free of some not so safe products for your hair, but it does a decent job as a shampoo. It lasted me about a month and I like how there is just a hole in the top of the bottle where you can squeeze the shampoo out of. My hair felt very clean after using this shampoo but my only complaint is that for my hair, this shampoo is a bit drying. I’m use to and my hair usually needs shampoo that is very moisturizing and this didn’t have enough moisture inside of it. I would use it again but not all the time. I think I will stick with Bedhead Damage Control Shampoo or Bedhead for Blonds. Although, I do have another shampoo and conditioner to report on after I have used it coming next month.

www.sephora.ca
http://www.sephora.ca

3. Bamboo Abundant Volume Conditioner ($25.50) –  The conditioner for this Bamboo brand was actually a little better than the shampoo. Although, I did find that I needed to use more conditioner in my hair than shampoo. The conditioner moisturized fairly well and my hair felt soft after using the conditioner but even so my hair did not quite feel that it had been moisturized enough. After using both the shampoo and conditioner I felt that I needed more conditioner in my hair, possibly a thicker conditioner, so I was a bit disappointed with both the shampoo and conditioner over all.
