Day 9 Prompt – SPIRAL

“I love that you can find spirals from the tiniest places (our DNA) to massive expanses (the Milky Way) and everywhere in between. Free write about spiraling and see where you go – do you spiral up or down? Find where this word takes you and go from there.”

——-

Whispy visions form,

In our minds, in dreams, in sleep;

Foggy images,

Are we us in our dreams so real?

 Perhaps, we’re who we desire?

——–

Perfected, ideal.

No flaws, idiosyncrasies,

We save the day and —

Our wishes come true and life,

Is exactly how we would want.

—–

Then again most dreams,

Are ghastly and confusing.

People don’t make sense

You’re chasing someone or you’re —

Being chased — there’s no escape.

—–

You’re afraid and lost,

Your dreams, colourful, and vivid.

Childhood friends are here,

People you’ve seen only once —

Nightmares spiral, ripe with fear.

——

Facing an enemy,

Bully from school, or those you —

Loved, or part of you does?

What’s real? Will you remember?

Why do your friends hide and yell?

——

Or perhaps, you dream,

Much more serenely and feel,

A peace never felt,

 In waking hours never found,

Tough living life; then you sleep . . .

—-

Do you sleep enough?

Perchance to dream, feel refreshed

Or do you thrash and —

Scream, spiralling nightmare,

Taking ahold preventing —

——

No waking, no sleep;

Twisted and caught inbetween,

What’s real and what’s not

The savage territory,

Our mind’s fears torturing us

Maydays: Poem – Shadorma – “Could Be You Some Day” #Maydays #amwriting

———

Thank you to the wonderful K.L. Caley of new2writing for hosting #Maydays prompts. This prompt I mentioned in today’s #Maydays prompt. It concerns all things geek.

———-

Geek sheek is,

There such a term we,

Simply don’t —

Care to know,

Because we don’t want to be a geek.

Memories; childhood.

——-

Bullies,

Abused the,

Geeks who in,

Our schools, were —

Nerds shoved into lockers and,

Forgotten about ’till —

——-

Mr. X let,

Nerdy guy out; he —

Never helps,

Much, Mr. X —

Won’t stop bully from hurting,

Kids; he pretends it’s play.

——

Movies don’t,

Aid kids who become,

Targets at —

School because,

For some reason geeks stand out,

Fate aids her bullies.

——-

Why are some,

Children left —

Alone? While some,

Lose their lunch —

Money, to mean kid who made,

Them bleed, inside out.

——

And parents,

Who don’t see their child,

Bullying —

Beware your,

Child’s cruelty leads kids to die;

Commit suicide.

——–

What makes a —

Geek? I’ve never been one,

So it’s hard,

For me to,

Generalize; perhaps, you can’t?

Bully choose prey anyways.

——

Call them geek,

Not sheek; teenagers,

And children,

Abused by,

Jealous, mean people; it’s fine —

To bully, they think.

——-

Now they pick,

On geeks online on,

Their Facebook,

Snapchat and,

Chat rooms; abounding with hate.

But change in adulthood.

——-

World turns,

When that geek you hit.

Is your boss,

Separating,

You from promotions deserved.

Shouldn’t have punched him.

——

Now the geeks,

Are truly sheek and,

Are making,

Millions and —

Millions more than your pay cheque.

But the difference here–

——

Maybe they —

After some payback,

Have pity,

On you and —

Your friend, who work under them.

They know what it’s like.

——–

So kids when,

You’re attending school,

Think ahead,

You’re not young,

Forever; the geek you hurt —

One day, could hurt you.

Best Piece of Advice I Received that I Wouldn’t Give Now

Prompt:

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that you wouldn’t give to anyone else? Why don’t you think it would apply to others?

When I was about six or seven years old I use to get bullied at school because I was a pudgy kid. I never received much of any junk food, I ate pretty much organic between our garden at home and my grandparents, and I wasn’t fat — I just hadn’t grown yet. But anyways, my Mom told me one time after a bunch of boys were bullying me verbally to just kick them. It was a good piece of advice and it worked, it always worked.

But times have changed and now the parents and teachers would not say the bully’s deserved to be kicked and that I was just defending myself. Now I would get into trouble for kicking the bully’s and hurting them. It’s a sad reality for kids today. How does one deal with bully’s when telling on them doesn’t work or only gets you beat up worse. Why can’t one defend their self instead of put up with verbal or physical abuse? I really don’t know what people are thinking. Maybe I just should have stayed miserable and waited until I had to change schools? But just the same I wouldn’t give a kid the advice to kick a bully because it could land them in suspension or worse, get them accused of being a bully.
