Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers – A Plague On Thee

The gigantic yellow boat filled the harbour with its shear mass. Stella knew why the ship was docking here, but she also knew there was great risk.

Suddenly, sick,  smelly, and confused people in ragged clothes began to pour out on to the dock. There were people of every color and race and they were followed by hundreds of body bags. Stella could almost cry, when she saw how many of the body bags were little.

These passengers were the survivors of a modern-day plague.  Bioterrorism had caused a mutated Bubonic Plague to spread to billions. Canadian and American Scientists were working on an antidote before it spread further.

Stella was a nurse, and she hurt for all her loved ones lost in Germany. She fearlessly helped the refugees, while unknowingly spreading more plague. Stella and certain others didn’t know that just because they were immune to the plague, didn’t mean they weren’t carrying the disease.
