Poem: Free Verse – “Prayer for the Small Things” #amwriting #poetry #prayer

——–

Oh Lord, thank God for the small things,

The words and acts of kindness,

Which help me through the day.

Thank God for the small things,

Each day I’m fed,

I’ve many clothes to wear.

Thank you that I too can be generous

That you gave me a Mother who taught —

Her daughter to be thoughtful,

So I wouldn’t think only of myself.

And even when I’m hurt and crying

I can see a silver lining in that cloud.

*****

Lord, thank you for the small things,

A life I’m given to live

No matter how battered or bruised

You’re my armour and you never leave.

Your champions wage

Though the whirlpool may swallow;

You bring us through to the other side.

New blessings each day,

More than we need or want, or deserve

Thank you for the small things.

For earnings, for caring friends,

For a heart that doesn’t break when it’s bent

Thank you for love; however, small it was,

For those who hurt me,

So I knew then, what forgiveness was.

*****

Lord, oh for the small things,

That kindness could be formed in me,

To kill the badness, the jealousy

Thank you for keeping him safe,

For him not being my guy,

Though I pray for him still,

You keep him secure, alive —

I pray you give him faith

And draw us both close to you.

*****

Thank you my almost love,

Is not in the big picture.

I hope he sees his wealth,

His privilege comes,

Not only with acts of goodness

But faith in God, in Jesus —

From his heart

If I see him again —

Help me to not turn away but to repair

So much is your power,

You could change a man’s mind.

Help him see he is lost in the law,

He needs your grace to believe

*****

Thank you Lord, for the small things,

My family, my friends, those I detest.

My lost pets, my forgotten foes.

Every man I felt something special for,

For the ones who hurt me deep and cut in;

I didn’t bleed out and die inside.

I moved on, survived

I’m doing okay.

*****

Thank you I was born in this day and age

Not one-hundred something years ago or more.

For medical advances, social programs,

And people more understanding,

At least I hope

Thank you that one day, I’ll see you face to face,
Thank you Lord, for the small things,

For to me they’re very big.

My prayer I give and keep in my heart

For your omniscient presence,

For your healing,

Oh Lord, I ask and give thanks.

Poem: Italian Sonnet – “Desert and Oasis Art” #introtopoetry #amwriting #sonnet

For the last poetry 101 post the theme is the future, and to he the form of a sonnet. I’m also using The Daily Post prompt words Glass and Desert.

——-

Desert air burns bleeding cracked lips; so slow,

Annoying pain, causing heat stroke quicker.

What’s in the future, dry dust, sand sifting?

Tiny grains grating in my mouth, wind blows.

Does this desert end? Sun baking skin whole?

Am I done penance, my soul much richer?

Water, oasis found; soul weeps bitter.

Are my thoughts real? Or am I dying slow?

——

Future ahead, sandstorms, I see swarming;

Into crystals of glass where artists make,

Such beautiful creations colours forming.

Glass in flowers; blown shapes delicate made.

Where presently, I’m in need of some shade.

Torment cease; dancing, at last, rain storms!

Poem: Free Verse – “A Scream” #amwriting #scream #horror #poetry

I have been watching this Scream series, done by Netflix, loosely based on the Scream horror films from when I was a teenager. The show is pretty decent. It has interesting characters with more depth because you can do that with episodes as opposed to movies. As well, the creators are able to string the plot out, giving the episodes more meat that way. It remains a typical teen horror genre show, as the movies were, but I enjoy it. Maybe it’s nastelgia, or maybe it’s knowing most of the main characters are going to get killed off. But exactly how? And when?

The poem below is loosely based off of the Netflix series.

——

Life’s a scream,You may not find much, you can redeem.
When life’s a scream,

The parties, drinking, people becoming obscene.

And life’s a scream,

You may not find, the pearl in the center of your dreams.

Life’s a scream,

But I find this horror genre a has been,

Life’s a scream,

In the day, the conversation ebbs and sways; I lean,

On sidewalk cracks and think, life’s a scream,

Unless you’re out of your mind trying not to bleed.

A wound from your soul; life’s a scream,

When were caught in-between, the middle and the end scene.

Yes, life’s a scream,

The killer lurking, ending all our dreams.

But people keep on saying, ” Life’s a scream.”

Yet, it’s only madness; ripped out seams;

Here’s to everything; life’s a scream,

In the end, a dark blank screen.

Poem: Tankas – “Nooked”

http://www.yourtango.com
———-

You damaged me,

 Running into me that night.

Long ago laughing.

I embraced you on sight and,

I wasn’t even nervous.

——

You cut into me,

There’s no way from damage I —

Could recover now,

Hit by navy eyes,

Broken by your smile.

——

You made me bleed-out,

As we became much closer,

You were my steady–

Rock; my foundation solid,

I believed in you, in us.

—–

You may as well have,

Torn out my heart from my chest,

Such trouble you gave,

Sipping kisses from my lips,

Arguing stopped; more blissing.

——

Your cure all for all,

The sadness, the splintered soul,

Holding me tight when,

Love’s making halted a while,

Caring how you made me feel.

——-

Your worst crime is your,

Deception; how I pass you —

And you see my eyes,

Smarting still from being blind,

Brittle pieces tapped together.

—–

Stabbed by your bass voice,

Whispering pleas, in dark.

Searching for the truth.

Finding only that you killed me,

As you loved; the little death.

——

Smothering with fondness,

Never realizing love needs,

Space to grow, flourish.

Became suffocating your,

Word, your constant touch beloved.

—–

I died inside with,

Prayers falling from lips you,

Bit last torrid night.

If space could give me freedom,

You’d agree, find the solution.

—–

Should we continue,

Though I know you love me dear,

I’ll die fast smothered,

Let us both relax in light.

You near, touching me, all times.

——

Let us both breathe from,

The days we both couldn’t be,

Five seconds apart,

Let us be even closer,

Distance, draws a deeper love

——

Reflection as we,

Seek skin and curves and muscles.

Beautiful to be close.

Never ever far away,

Face in your neck; nooked near.

Poem: Free Verse – ” Silver and Gold “

http://www.studio.e-picasa.com

——–

You can say it in as many ways,

As it comes to your mind,

You can try to convince me otherwise,

But I have drawn a line.

Cross the line, I’ll tell you how it goes,

My answer, you’ll probably hate.

But scars run deep, criss-crossing,

Battle wounds which don’t completely heal.

You only see a slight raised line,

White and long —

But I feel the pain of the wound.

I remember how the scar came to be,

I know how I screamed inside,

Trying to be brave,

As the cut ran red with blood,

Gore and trauma, degradation.

A scar such as this doesn’t merely heal,

It can reappear and open-up,

A wound that flares with blood-red drops.

Underneath the skin is pink marble,

And  you can see how deep it went,

Layers pealed back as I cried with pain.

It’s my scar on my body;

Apart of me for life.

A mark that lives on my skin and —

I have curves, I will not lie.

But my curves aren’t perfect creamy white,

Scars and nicks lie here and everywhere.

Disfigurement remaining there,

I’m imperfect and I’m flawed.

Don’t you know strength was born from such scars?

Curves are real and they reflect,

A body blessed with shape and allure.

But what I want you to notice,

When my skin is bare,

The scars angry red, left there.

For those scars are what will always be,

They are me, and I am them.

If you can accept them,

You can love me too,

For on my body they are silver and gold,

Worth what I’ve been through.

Poem: Ethree – “Helpers”

Thanks to The Daily Post for the word prompt help.

——

We

Try to

Be of help,

Sometimes we are,

A hindrance,

But I was told once that,

If we’re able to give our aid,

We shouldn’t hesitate to,

Do only what we are commanded,

Love your neighbour as yourself; help them out!

But not everyone acts to help us,

Some would rather see us fail — bleed,

People aren’t always nice in life,

At times they send us tumbling,

Sometimes we fall down far,

But in the worst

Look, true —

Helpers,

Act.
