Haunting music,

Tunes unearthly sweet.

He’ll wring emotion,

Notes disturbed.

Depressing songs blur;

His heart aches, yearns.

She left him lost,

She left him first.

Each night at Luna’s height,

He plays those notes,

Draining his being.

Souls quiver knowing —

Ballads the silver violinist,

Plays, plucking sorrow,

Into sunrise,

A final despairing note.

Skilled, talented throwing the line,

Worm dangles beneath,

Fish doesn’t comprehend his fate.

——-

Struggle, fighting, swishing, pulling in,

Glinting scaled being,

Waged battle, he couldn’t win.

——

You reel him in proud,

Heavy fish squirming,

Another moment, then he’s still.

November Notes: Poem -Day 24 – Italian Sonnet – “The Blame”

This days song prompt is “Buses and Trains” by Bachelor Girls.

“Buses and Trains” – Bachelor Girls

Mom, you didn’t say, how cruel the world is,

I could blame you for it all, but I’m grown.

Teach me, I could’ve learned by your grace known.

Each day I’m run down by trains, it’s fun this–

Game; ears ringing from sound trains make hissing.

Or a bus in front of me is coming, near miss —

Only by seconds I’m safe, empty words moan.

Why do I being pulverized feel sewn

Together a quilt, with all pieces, its bliss.

How do I explain I needed guidance?

It hurts me, you decided, gave me up.

Without your words, boys became as chocolate,

Choosing the worst, failing being grown-up.

Addicted, inhaling them, drug sate.

You could’ve taught me better, it’s too late.

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer: The Sun’s Ascent

Words deserted her as fire shot across the sky. She welcomed sunrise casting brilliant light into the dawn, while purple-tinged clouds of white still held wisps of night’s inky black guise.

Beautiful sunrises were evocative for her and could easily bring forth a memory. They had the power to make her eyes hunger and delight, to forget her words. A sunrise’s influence kept her caught in a distinct moment of enjoyment, while at the same time, lost in thought.

The rising sun also inspired prayers of thankfulness. It was a raw moment in nature, primordial to her being. No matter what she was experiencing in life, the sunrise momentarily healed her. Sunlight glazing across the dawn sky mended her body, alleviated her suffering.

Above all she thought, the hope a sunrise brought was vital. Each day it rose, she was graced with another day to do better and be better. To her, this sense of hope was most profound. It was why she cried, tasting the salt of her tears, as the sun finished it’s ascent.

Photo (Music) Challenge: Poem – LaJemme – “All of Her” #poetry #amwriting #music

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s music challenge. This one brought back memories of teenage angst and pain. It was one of my favourite bands and songs in high school. The band for this week’s prompt is Evanescence and their song: “My Immortal.”

———-

Childess fear, devoice, perfectly placed; your words.

Compelling words, you’re afraid, have no voice.

Love, not a choice, it hurts; guess it’s for the birds

Faltering, smothered; clear you sing no choice

——-

Suffer, no relief uncovered.

Linger, another wound betrayed so.

Resonating light, preserved false love.

Scoundrel, thieving; she is wasting.

——-

Wipe bruising tears, yours deceiving.

Crocodile pours saltwater, stings.

Petals droop, swims face down, soul forming

Nothing left, sinner stole her soul’s wings

——–

Captivating man, just leave her within

Solid glass splits; why is life frustrating?

Fractured from ripping, your words scream flitting.

Untrustworthy, you’ve stole all her being.

———

Give her up, let her go; life moves forward.

She sheltered, faltered not; tears and regrets,

She rebuilds, sets constructing her torn heart

Disappeared; tells herself you two never met

She’s a porpoise in water swim,

Life for her, no playful passing whim.

In gossamer gown, butterfly —

Letting out her breath, with sad sigh.

Out of cocoon perhaps she’ll break?

If breathing didn’t count for her sake.

An angel dipping her wings in the dim.

A lonely child, she floats, won’t swim.

——

Don’t give up your life in a breath,

Child with wings now so brightly set.

You’re no worm to be ashamed,

No worthless being created, blamed.

Diamond glimmers in God’s eye,

He sees in you no flaw, child abide.

You’re precious treasure life or death,

He handles all — porpoise deep breath.

——-

Dive in ocean, swim quick mammal,

Don’t be still — inhale air, expand —

Your lungs to breathe, realize —

Reasons, break cacoon and fly.

Leave world behind, most treasured,

You’re worth much more for measure.

Costly jewel cherished in God’s hand,

Angel breathe; let grief form tears on land.

Poem: Cinquins (2,4,6,8,2) – ” A Place To Breathe” #wordhighjuly #amwriting

——

There are,

Places we find,

The world scars our being.

Sanctuary is needed,

What’s yours?

——

In our,

Minds overwhelmed,

By everything we need–

To do, but relief comes with breathing,

In, out.

——–

Perhaps,

It’s a place with,

Grassy knolls and sun beams bright,

Where yoga mats lay, and you pose and,

Stretch-out.

—–

Release,

Everything pent —

Up inside your heart box,

From the years, shoving secrets deep,

Relax.

—–

Tell who,

You must and let,

Your friend know, these hard times,

You’re letting them all go, melting,

Away.

—–

Perhaps,

It’s a place with,

A lake and fishing poles,

And a serenity found in quiet,

Have peace.

——

Maybe,

You read books and,

Spend the whole day absorbed,

Letting time pass, body revives,

Mind rests.

——-

Maybe,

You run because,

Endorphins flow and you —

Feel alive on pavement jogging.

Freeing.

——-

Perhaps,

You spend the day,

With an old friend, or your spouse.

Maybe you pretend you are both young.

Dreaming.

——-

Or you,

Could travel far,

See art, culture breathe new —

Experiences and let wanderlust,

Take you.

——-

Wherever,

You go, you need

Find your kalinai,

Serenity, deep in your soul.

Peace be.

Poem: Rondel – “Unique: Not Only a Body”

http://www.litebook.com

——–

I’m extraordinarily original.

I’m incomparably unique.

You’ll think, not good enough to speak —

To — but my value is untypical.

—-

I’m compassion, genuine.

You’ll not see past my sublime shine.

I’m extraordinarily original.

I’m incomparably unique.

——

Only trying to make you seek,

Me for being someone that’s kind.

Someone whose worth isn’t resigned.

To value merely, her body reaped.

I’m extraordinarily original.

Sunday Flash Fiction: Shadowless

Peter Pan taught me that it is vital to keep your shadow close; it can be an easy enough part of yourself to lose. Sometimes, I think I would rather not have a shadow but then I consider, that would be like a vampire looking into a mirror and not having a reflection because they’re a vampire. Without a shadow or a reflection, you would be something inhuman.

That’s why I’ve never understood how I remain human but my shadow went missing one night. People don’t notice, but I do. It doesn’t matter the source of light, rays of the sun or a glow from the light bulb, but I have no shadow;  it left me in my sleep.

I had this nightmare I don’t remember. I was sweating and I woke up screaming and I’ve never done that before. I’m sure it was the Sandman, or maybe the song,”Enter Sandman” by Metallica had me uptight.

But in the night, ” [I] sleep with one eye open, holding [my] pillow tight,” so when the Sandman comes in my dreams, I can steal back my shadow and sew it to my body as Peter Pan did.

I’m not sure how that will work yet, but I’m tired of being a freak without a shadow. You think I would have superpowers at least, but losing your shadow doesn’t work that way. Dogs don’t like you anymore, cats hiss, animals at the zoo all go wild when you pass by.

It appears I’m some unholy being, and I don’t even know what I am.
