He lived his life did, what he could, but could —

Not find a way to escape the demons.

He could not escape his addiction; the —

Monster sunk his teeth into him when his,

Guard was down; he would feel wonderful,

Healthy, good, then he felt it’s teeth gnawing.

The biting, the teeth claiming his flesh, would make,

His skin itch until he wanted to tear it,

Off; running for the bathroom where he hid,

His medication, the pills he so craved.

Wanted to quit; to never take again,

But the monster clawing down his back would,

Never stop; not until he claimed him for–

His own; made him demon too, who hits her,

His girl; who loves him, though hallucinates,

Of the Hell monster,  he lives in terror of,

He wakes from Hell to find his family,

Has deserted him; he’s alone breathing;

Trying to forget the demon who would start,

Eating him alive soon, making his temper —

Rise and his fists fly as he imbibes too,

Craving the second monster who is the,

Only way to handle the greater,

The worst monster, the devil hiding.

Evil itself repeatedly gnawing,

Trapping him in Hades, stripping his —

Soul; so he feels that he does not exist;

For anyone, but to grind and lash out.

To battle the demon, his addiction,

And no one can help him, they’ve given

Up all hope; so one day he thought he would,

Give in let the monster finish him.

Bind and seal the deal, his soul in hell for,

All eternity and he was going,

To jump when he saw —  a light, awoke;

In the room of the addictions unit.

At the hospital and the nurse tells him,

“It’s okay it’s been a month and you’re —

Dreaming again; it’s a wicked —

Nightmare and not your reality now.

Keep clean and the monster, he’ll leave soon,

Then, you’ll be free as you’re here and —

Remain aware; when you leave stay far from,

Put those drugs, the alcohol behind.

And soon you must embrace your new life,

Make your apologies and live.”

The man sighs almost crying, so —

Happy the demons are distant dreams.

Skilled, talented throwing the line,

Worm dangles beneath,

Fish doesn’t comprehend his fate.

Struggle, fighting, swishing, pulling in,

Glinting scaled being,

Waged battle, he couldn’t win.

You reel him in proud,

Heavy fish squirming,

Another moment, then he’s still.

Thanks to NEKEEREJ of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s photo challenge. For NaPoWriMo the prompt is ” to take one of your favorite poems and find a very specific, concrete noun in it. . . After you’ve chosen your word, put the original poem away and spend five minutes free-writing associations – other nouns, adjectives, etc. Then use your original word and the results of your free-writing as the building blocks for a new poem. The last letter of the A to Z Challenge is of course the letter Z for a GoodRead’s quote.

———–

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.” — Sun Tzu, The Art of War

———

Noun – “arbitrary blackness”

– “drops dead, “head,” imagined you”, come home, never did, lost love, war, hoping, never returned so he was lost in the war, she becomes this blackness, because he is gone, “Satan’s men” – the Nazi’s in Germany, exit, dreamed was with him in bed, dreams always, but she is mad, he exists no longer, never returned so never was?

——-

They say this is no war for girls to fight in,

The men go off to fight their battles, estranged.

For everyone, life’s callous rearranged.

If he’s out there, he’s changed, sick as sin.

Everyone, everywhere drops dead, there’s no win.

In cities, in ghettos, wars collide.

Drop dead, silly head, mad but I’m alive.

Gone for all time, years ago in air thin

Arbitrary blackness fills my soul.

Satan’s men on trial, live in soul’s holes.

With those from the camps, fuel for fire.

Haunted dreams, PTSD now respired.

Mad to love you, but I wait and desire.

Arbitrary blackness still encloses.

I feel like I’ve been distant on here lately. But sometimes you need a break from the usual. I have always found it easy to pull a lot of inspiration from myself and those around me. From past experiences and from my friends and events around the world. Christianity too can be something encouraging as well as a vivid imagination.

I have been trying my hand at some freelancing but it’s been a lot of effort. It saddens me to see how little a writer’s words are worth be they for blog, article, or essay. But at least where I am now pays a better than where I started at which was doing short pieces of writing for experience only. So I have been trying to do some other writing as well as blogging. Some days it’s works and others not so much. I know I’ve had to cut back on my prompts recently so my blog schedule will be based on how much I have to do each week for freelancing. I’m not earning much of a thing but at least I feel like I’m contributing a bit more and learning new ideas.

I also continue to look for and submit poetry and some short story fiction to some different sites and magazines as well as edit my novel when I’m able to focus on a couple of chapters at a time. If anyone enjoys writing and is interested in being a beta reader for a paranormal romance please let me know. I would appreciate your opinions very much. My book is on Wattpad so you’d have to read it in their, but it has an app and allows a person to comment on each chapter after they’ve read it. Or you can go to the site on your computer HERE. Just check it out and if you’re interested in reading my book, let me know in the comment section below. I appreciate it! 💕❤ My user name is @mandibelle16

One thing I love about writing is that I am always acquiring more knowledge. Recently, I have been doing more academic writing and I have been relearning citation and rules for academia. At the same time I think about my novel and my other creative writing in the back of my mind, finding distance has given me a better perspective on my plots, characters, and stories.

Also sometimes watching your favourite TV or Netflix programs, reading books, and walking outside in the warmer weather we’ve been having, makes one feel well and helps me think things through and visit different angles. “Suits” is an excellent and entertaining legal drama if anyone’s interested in watching the seasons on Netflix. As I’m going through my own case right now, it drew me in but its characters are witty, charming, and funny except for the character of Louis. But you have to hand it to the actor, he does a superb job of being slimy and repulsing lol.

Additionally, I’ve also been drawing, working on portraits, and colouring using various mediums. Art very much  inspires me so it’s been fun to play around with that a while. I’m also working on a few technical glitches with my blog and the WordPress app, trying to figure some of those things out as well. I do want to make some changes to my blog. It’s only a matter of sitting down, figuring them out in the little time I have concentration well enough — along with everything else — and then doing those changes. Eventually, I’ll figure it out 🙂

As well, I’ve been working on my health. This year I have tried to learn a more basic healthy recipes and I’ve researched my health condition a bit more. I’m doing this 5:2 Diet which means five days a week you eat how many calories you would eat for your body and amount you exercise. It’s recommended for CFS/ME patients as medication can cause significant gain.  As I can do little beyond a small walk now and then and some weight loss yoga, I eat just over sixteen hundred calories a day but of course a woman who exercised more or was just out and about more would eat around two thousand calories or more on a normal day.

On a side note: I so recommend an online subscription to Gaia if you can’t make it to yoga classes at the gym always. They have all different levels and lengths of workouts. From beginner to difficult yoga of all types, to Pilates videos, meditation and breathing videos, and short little videos that relieve back or neck pain in around ten minutes which I love. Everyday new videos are added and you there is such an array of options that it is so worth the subscription about $13.00 (in Canadian currency)/month and I think anywhere from about $7.00 to $9.00 US depending on your subscription.

Anyways, two days a week on the 5:2 Diet, you choose which days you eat only 500 calories as a woman and only 600 if you’re a man. Once you get into it, it’s not so bad and you learn what foods are filling and healthy to eat. I haven’t been able to drop to five hundred calories but about to 600 on fast days. I do yoga of twenty to twenty-five minutes for two and sometimes three days a week and I’ve been able to lose what the diet promises, about a pound a week. So for me after three weeks, three pounds and today was the first time I noticed my clothes fitting better. That’s my hope honestly, for my clothing that I own and like a lot, to fit well. Also, to be able to continue purchasing future clothing in regular sizing. (P.S. I have plans for some spring fashion and makeup blogs so we’ll see how things go later!!).
Once a person gets to their ideal weight on the 5:2 Diet, they can keep fasting two days a week or drop to one day a week to maintain. Out of all the programs/diets I’ve tried I love that this is safe weightless and healthy because it’s four or five pounds a month and about making choices to eat better and to exercise instead just for a little bit at a time.

You don’t receive that instant ‘wow factor’ as fast-diets promise but I believe this is healthier for you because it takes place over months and is doable for ‘life.’ If you mess up, choose another day that week to fast and after the first week you honestly are used to the fasts for the two days. Two days are easier than dieting for an entire week all the time.

I didn’t think it would work as I had read about it before with caution. However, the plan worked for a family member first who showed my some YouTube videos on it and they were quite convincing. He has lost the weight and maitained his level of exercise. So something to check out if you’re interested. I borrowed the book from the library and it’s a simple diet to be sure.

Also, I’m afraid my biweekly interview is going to be a day or two late this week as I’ve got to finish a project first. So apologies there. As for my lack of writing and commenting, I will do as much as I’m able.

So without further ado, here’s a poem I wrote a while back. It’s comforting but also sad. It’s based around, knowing a loved one is facing the end. It’s difficult for the person and their loved ones, but at the same time, relief because that person will never feel pain again in Heaven.

Thanks for reading!

” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” – 1 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)

——–

One last mile, one more Christmas comes to pass,
Praying for ages, memories and lifetimes.
The quicksand buries, but light still yet shines,

A beacon, slowly immersed — death’s paid wrath,

We don’t know how long the present will last.

Keep wide the door, heaven’s gate you’ll enter,

All time converges, earth isn’t center.

We’re a blip, nothing’s linear, we’re the past;

Before glory, laud, and honour shown,

Is to God, in our eternal rest and home.

Someday you’ll go, tears mark your finish line,

But these days you run, pray you’re unconfined;

To be free of your burdens, what you dread,

Your time with us not taken — not the end.

—-

You’ve run the race my friend, endured the course,

And all our memories are so dear, of your face —

Brightly lit, your smile, a fighter’s proud grace.

You kept it up, as long as you could, and would —

Have had a runner’s chance, enduring pain, stood —

Humbled but kept striding in all you faced.

Every hill with vision, pose, setting your pace;

Life, your race, needed winning; without fear —

Embrace the end engaged; approaching so near,

Throw yourself into battle you’ve waged,

Never to be a victor, not to be caged;

Instead found eternal rest, your end page,

Last word fin, your Lord called: “Come home dear one.”

Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: Grandpa’s Fish Pond #amwriting #flashfiction #fiction

Thanks too Roger Shipp for hosting FFftPP.

Phallon watched the fish swim in the pond his Grandpa had installed in his backyard. He enjoyed visiting his Grandpa each Saturday. Grandpa had put the pond in because young Phallon loved the fish so much as a toddler; ‘fishes’ had been his first word.

Now he sat with Grandpa who asked him about school and of course the girls in his school. Uncomfortable, Phallon wished Grandpa didn’t ask him about that.

Grandpa simply laughed,”Phallon, I’m only teasing you. It’s good you have friends who are girls and that there are girls you like. This Jennifer, have you asked her out?”

Phallon’s face turned red, “Yeah we’ve gone to a movie together and bowling. I want her to be my girlfriend but her parents say she’s too young to have a boyfriend.”

Grandpa nodded a smile on his face, “You’ll find the right one when you’re older. When I saw your Grandma the first time, my heart lept out of my chest. I wonder if I will ever meet that right girl of yours and see you marry her?”

Phallon felt uncomfortable again, “Why wouldn’t you be there Grandpa? You’re only eighty-one?”

Grandpa patted Phallon’s hand then squeezed it, “You know, my boy, I’ve been sick a long time. It’s a battle I’ve mostly conquered, but my strength is waning these days.When you get married someday, think of your old Grandpa, okay?” Phallon nodded feeling a lump in his throat.

Two-years later Grandpa succumbed. Phallon was sixteen and felt raw inside. He returned to the fish pond in Grandpa’s  back yard. He noticed the fishes were floating and the reality of life made tears wet his cheeks. In the mess of the last two weeks including Grandpa’s funeral, no one had remembered to feed the fish.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 12 – Licentia – “Keep Fighting” #amwriting #poetry

Day 12 Prompt: Strong

“What comes to mind when you hear the word “strong”? Here are some of my thoughts: strong storm, strong body, strong spirit, strong drink…”

——–

——–

Beautiful, bountiful time you glimmer dear,

One moment you’re stalled, the next you’re too quick here.

Strength is a quality not measured in moments,

Measured in years, standing against time, back bent.

It’s an eternal struggle with internal —

Thoughts and habits, striving to change and descern.

Attempting to learn what experience teaches,

Growing in ourselves and for others reaching.

Improve upon our lives, our relationships,

Don’t be still, life needs our participation.

Beautiful, bountiful time you glimmer dear,

One moment you’re stalled, the next you’re too quick here
——

Strength is a quality not measured in moments,

Measured in years, standing against time, back bent.

Fighters push hard, keep trekking through the swamp land,

Mud sucking at your boots, praying there’s no quicksand.

Though tangled vines block your path, the machete cuts,

Letting no vines keep you from glory — sword thrust.

Old boat leaking, passing through life’s wide valleys,

A quest you must complete, don’t you dare dally.

A light in the distance, shows your boat safe path,

Light saves you from ending on rocks, body smashed.

Beautiful, bountiful time you glimmer dear,

One moment you’re stalled, the next you’re too quick here.
——-

It’s an eternal struggle with internal —

Thoughts and habits, striving to change and descern.

Looking inside ourselves, we’re often selfish,

But we can change, help others, give back and wish —

We knew how wonderful it felt to generously,

Give of all we are; family gives meaningfully.

Inner strength once found, perserverance we grasp,

Goes into the world, makes a sad person laugh.

For finally they can overcome their issues sad,

They see a light, see truth wins –every card hand.

Beautiful, bountiful time you glimmer dear,

One moment you’re stalled, the next you’re too quick here.

——-

Attempting to learn what experience teaches,

Growing in ourselves and for others reaching.

Spread fortitude, physical, emotional and —
Spiritual; seeing  it bless, teach, understand —

Beyond words and muscle, past many barriers,

Teach us to grow and find strength as warriors.

Life such a battle, we do what we can in —

The time we are given, keep fighting and win.

Glory and honour maybe yours or not yet,

We go through life either way, path never set.

Beautiful, bountiful time you glimmer dear,

One moment you’re stalled, the next you’re too quick here.

Poem: Lauranelle -“Living the Story”

 Please Listen Below:

The story of our lives, it’s never over,

Until we breathe our last, we keep building.

Transitions experienced, life a changeover.

Loved ones grow, develop; our lives overfilling,

Hoping you experience, best of times; your story,

Ever-glowing, phenomenon thrilling.

Praying your lives keep moving, with pose; glory.

Even in the darkest times, search for light.

Live through each of life’s interesting short stories.

In the long road run, your epic takes flight.

No, life is not one or two, short stories formed.

Life the story, keeps changing; keep fighting.

At times, you must overcome frightening storms,

You must battle through blood; strike through the gore.

But there’s reasons you’re you, why you were born.

Lessons to be learned; experience fought for.

Life means continually rebuilding.

Worry not, when you fall; God rescues you before —

The waves pull you out, and drown you in salt —

Water takes away; it gives too, no fault.

The story of our lives, it’s never over,

Until we breathe our last, we keep building.

Poem: Free Verse – “The Battle Infinite”

http://www.youtube.com

———

Demons dreaming,

Surround me as I wake;
Oh give me serenity,
Nightmares creep and ache.

Falling from a mind overwhelmed,

By imagination on overdrive;

Let my mind be at peace,

Let the demons finally cease.

No understanding have I,

Why the demons we slaughter,

Are always the same sin.

I defeated you before,

But you come back for more;

The snake, loathsome reptile,

From Eden you did break.

Losing tiny snake legs,

To strike a woman’s heel.

How dare you come back,

To bring me down again.

I pray you keep your distance;

You keep moving closer.

Claustrophobia, panic,

Praying you don’t turn me to granite;

Pulling out my weapons,

I’ll battle Medusa harder still.

You can see the braided,

 Depths of my scars;

We know each other well old foe,

But I won’t go down pleading;

I have light in my armour,

Not the kind which normal snakes like;

The kind which burns,

Makes snakes writhe for life.

Pain will be your only friend,

Old foe; you fight the same.

Each and every time I return,

I don’t know why I turned my back on you;

Those not weary do not see,

The enemy coming up behind,

A dagger piercing my back; my heart.

A knock to my head; concussions blind;

But I heal fast, and I heal stronger.

Building my muscles each movement,

I recover; blood may flow,

And I hurt all the same;

What’s worse, I can’t blame you for all,

I do this to myself.

Will you ever learn stupid girl?

When are you no longer a frightened child?

There are no excuses to justify my crimes;

I know what is right and yet,

Time and again I find my foe and fight.

A battle with motions memorized,

A continual siege; I win and lose.

Pound you into the ground,

Poison you with your potent venom;

But you bounce back and reform,

Taking on another sin,

To challenge me for awhile;

Making it sound excellent,

That such a rest wouldn’t be exuberant.

If I’m smart I liquefy you;

Your blood and more stain the ground.

But since I’m human,

I complicate the issues.

And there are days I pause,

To be attacked and left weaponless,

Filled with panic and worry,

Wandering the valley as the poison seeps deep.

Only in the coming of dawn do I delight,

Fortitude returns and I smile small,

Learning my lesson,

Time and time again.

Experience keeps teaching despite,

A woman who continues to decide who she is;

Not knowing, not realizing,

Life is a gory battle, no one escapes.

The scar tissue builds upon scars;

Wounds of war are often the worst,

When we are not expecting them.

Pulling the dagger from my own back;

It’s a pain I hate to remember vividly.

But I got up;

And I walked on.

Feeling the dawn heal me;

As I kept on the road.

To another traveller I might seem,

A terrified, desperate girl.

Yet more often I see the same look in another’s eyes;

The knowledge of heart break, repentance, and experience.

A cycle doomed to repeat until we’ve finally learned;

Bigger hands than ours must deal the blows.

Hands which hold,

Entirety of unknown and known universes;

Hands which cradle the world.

Poem: Senryu (5,7,5) – “Separately  Together” #introtopoetry #amwriting #senryu

Thanks to The Daily Post for the words Layers and Autonomy. Also for Poetry 101 the prompt is imperfect and Limrick. I’ve chosen not to do limericks.

——-

http://www.pixebay.com

——

Obvious is it?

No one has clarity,

Only shadows.

—–

Glancing upon you,

I search through layers,

Facates hid inside.

——

Peeling back your words,

Paint shows original coat.

What’s left; I adore.

—–

Thought you could mask truth,

Thought you could delve deeper in,

The light reveals all.

——

Fear for yourself and —

Your autonomy might lose,

Love is freedom too.

——

Keep autonomy,

But also be us both; one.

Separate, stay close.

——

Give autonomy,

To me too; so I can breathe,

Inhale, no traps laid.

—–

 I’ll lose my layers,

If you lose all of yours; let fall —

Let skin talk tonight.

—–

Dozing in the light,

Truth a battle call given,

Peace where we inhale.

——

Imperfect are we,

Flawed and marked; but love sees all,

Sees only beauty.

My Thoughts, Nonfiction, Poetry, Short Stories And Serial Stories, Wrapped Refrain

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – “Swimming Free Will.”

——–

With such wise words do you enquire,

Wandering through the tundra’s fire,

Land, so cold, all remains still ’til,

Spring thaw arrives and water spills,

You wisdom baffles me, the cadences confound,

How you find such stability; the rest of us drown.

——

Wisdom, one of those qualities,

Significant to gain, falls —

From some men and women’s,

Lips, drip, water there to within swim,

Backstrokes in a pool of magnificence and legends lost,

Swimming in the minds of the brightest, at what cost?

——-

Intelligence it’s an ocean,

Sea sickness, to much motion.

If you know where our treasure lay,

Perhaps, that’s knowledge we need save.

There can be utter foolishness in intelligence,

A smart man might actually notice, avoid his hell.

——

Empathy, a kind of wisdom,

Unrepresented, ignored.

Emotional intelligence,

Help souls broken, though lakes swells,

Health, mind, body, rescued from life’s frequent water spills.

With such wise words, emotive know — swimmer’s require free will.
