#OctPoWriMo Day 12/ Three Line Tales: Lunes – “Conflicted” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales

For OctPoWriMo Day 12 the Prompt is torture. I’m combing with Sonya from Only 100 Words, #3LineTales.

I’m not the Candle who’ll,

Burn because you,

You’ve no solace; no heat.

*****

But I can see your gnarled,

Exit-wounds, scars;

Twisted, wrecked, ashes cindered dust.

*****

I’ll not be abused, fractured —

I’ve exit-wounds;

They were smothered flames too.

*****

I might be warmth, ice —

Everything misconstrued, blighted;

My prayers gut-wrenching torn.

*****

Define truth, straightforward, not confused;

Honesty lashed with,

Toxicity, illusion; unhealed wounds seep.

*****

Heart quickens, pace strong, defiant,

Cornered, smothered, responsibility;

One truth believe, another truth quivers.

*****

#OctPoWriMo – Day 9/Saturday Mix: Poem – Elfjies – “Smoke Baby” #amwriting #poetry #Saturdaymix

For OctPoWriMo Day 9 the Prompt is based on the words “tapping the ash of her cigarette,” and what memory or story pops into our minds. Also doing the Saturday Mix Prompt from Sarah (Weejars) of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie using a poem form called an Elfje

—–

Credit: Ariel Lustre via Unsplash

“An ‘Elfje’ counts as five sentences.
Line 1 – One word. This word symbolizes a colour or feature. The word symbolizes the atmosphere.

Line 2 – Two words. These are something or someone with this colour or feature.

Line 3 – Three words. Giving more information about the person or the object. You describe where the person or the object is, who the person or what the object is, or what the person or object is doing. This sentence usually starts with the word ‘he’, ‘she’ or ‘it.’

Line 4 – Four words. Here you are writing something about yourself in relation to the person or the object. This sentence is your conclusion.

Line 5 – One word. This word is called the ‘Bomb.’ It is the essence of the poem.”

——-

Hawksley Workmen – “Smoke Baby”

———

Regret,

Fingers clench,

Her mouth casually,

Pulls her cigarette,  smoke trails —

Lingers.

——-

Ash,

Builds atop,

Deftly tapping cigarette,

Ochre eyes simper, crushing —

Cinders.

——–

Lips,

Pouty, defined,

Pursing them prettily,

Tossing peroxide mane, whispering —

Promises.

—-

Words,

They’ll not,

Be promises kept,

Her words as cinders,

Burn.

——

Night,

Ends quickly,

She disappears, gone —

You’re broken, smoke-heavy —

Regrets.

—–

Away,

Far gone,

Hips swaying, curves,

Bouncing, as she chuckles,

Devoid

—-

Thoughts,

Of her,

Sweeping through mind,

Shadow of sleepless night,

Altering.

—-

Perception,

Of beauty;

She’s no defeat,

Just reeks of cigarette —

Ashes.

—-

Forever,

Remembering her —

Two-pack habit,

Makes you and me,

Gag.

Day 25 – NaPoWriMo/A to Z Challenge/Writing Prompt: Poem – Cascading Etherees — “The Urn, Death, and the Light” #poetry #NaPoWriMo #AtoZChallenge #WritingChallenge

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is a “challenge you to write a poem that explores a small, defined space.” For A to Z Challenge the GoodRead’s Quote author has a name beginning with letter V. Im going two work in the Prompt from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Prompt from last week of a letter to death

——–

———

It is nothing to die. It is frightful not to live.” ― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

———

Such a tiny space I’ve ended in,

No satin lining, pillow, or light.

Shelved next to others kept,

Hear in this wall, directed,

The family not to pay for,

More than an urn,

But why, ask I,

Am I in,

This wall,

Left.

—–

It’s,

Easy,

To understand,

You didn’t want me —

Reminding  you, who I —

Used to be alive and whole.

That my ashes in an urn could,

Easily fall, ending up on the floor.

I’m wondering death, if you laugh at this?

——

If you comprehend my annoyance clear,

That my ashes weren’t scattered far  —

Into the park, the Off-leash trails,

Or into the water,

To a place of peace.

No walls for me,

Take my remains,

Death, cast them —

To the,

Wind.

——-

At,

First I,

Had many,

Questions,

But I knew you took,

All you needed of,

What was left of me.

And we’re no longer foes who are —

Bound to time; so you explain the whys,

Fill in the wherefores, gazing ahead soft.

——

Kingdom of light, love, facing the Heavens,

Death says this is the right place and —

I pray he isn’t wrong, for all —

Is revealed here in the —

House me Father built.

His mansion with —

Many rooms for —

The faithful,

Those souls,

Won. .

——

So,

Death you —

Have not your,

Victory.

Death you have no sting,

And in eternity,

All questions are answered,

Tranquility comes knowing,

The reason for everything —

The cross on Calvery, God’s love divine.

Poem: Free Verse – Thoughts of the Mockingjay #amwriting #poetry #fiction #symbolic

Credit: Wikia

———

Mockingjay, pretty bird or elegant deadly queen?

A woman, a creature of dystopia and mythology

If there’s one bird to be, it would be a Mockingjay

Though I know they’re imaginary,

Mockingjays are real as symbols of courage.

Birds which don’t break, they carry on;

Nature outlasting outlandish experiments,

Reinventing, Mother Earth evolving and re-working,

What humans would call a mistake;

Yet these Jays cannot be hidden away, they’re fierce warriors risen.

——

As a Mockingjay, could I fly close to the sun?

Icarus (I think) burned off his majestic wings doing such a deed,

 I’d think a celestial queen of Mockingjays is smarter

She’s a stealthy bird whose whistle, repeats any tune heard,

Her mimickery can be confusing to her enemy.

A Mockingjay queen, would keep her scars hidden,

Safe beneath feathers which float, as hope;

Now fuzz, falling furiously as she grows, dropping downy —

Fast, no longer a chick adorned with puffiness

Now a full-blown black and white glory who sings life’s story,

The story of pain, betrayal, and loss;

Your average adventure and most tantalising tale.

Oh, what a Mockingjay can truly be,

When her heads adorned by sunlight and truth,

Choosing her battles and using her melody

The Melody you’re humming to yourself.

The sweetest songs of tears, quicksilver and liquid gold,

Molten metal glimmering

She burns with fire in her soul, though she is no mythical Phoenix;

Yet she rises from the ashes of society and science

She repeats your tunes, the echoes throughout her wild lands.

——

—–

You’ll never catch a Mockingjay, there’s wrath in her footprints,

Her anger caused, ignites an inner flame brilliant.

She’ll swoop from above and end you below,

The dignified woman, no longer laughing,

Going to battle, her war song a trill

The Mockingjay flies her wings fluid, her form grace designed.

A legendary bird of modern times,

Survival of the fittest crossing genetics;

Nature re-designs better than a science lab of horrors

Mockingjay is more than bird she is the huntress

The symbolic warrior of Ancient Greece and Rome – Artemis;

Bow with blazing pyrotechnics and lethal skill, pointed at her kill.

She lives and she dreams of the day, the war is long ended,

Where revenge and the cold stone hearted have no meaning.

Her desire is the melody so beautiful it thrills and heals

Enraptures a soul with clearly sung words.

She’s a warrior with golden platted lashes, winged at her pray;

A sultry seductress and and goddess flying free.

Mockingbird walks, she sways, feathers flocked close,

She’s as precious as the sparrow, calling lonely for her love.

She’d scarred, her heart torn

So strong but in need of help most of all.

Even symbols of strength such as her,

Who mimick a fictitious tune with ease;

Need more than survival to hope for.

She needs more than, a gilded bird cage.

November Notes: Day 7 – Poem – Rondeau – “Stars In The Sky Reflect” #novembernotes #poetry #coldplay #amwriting

Today’s prompt song is one of my most favourite songs, “Yellow” by Coldplay.

——

“Yellow” – ColdPlay

——

http://www.gizgaleri.blogspot.com

———

So perfect, stars in the sky they reflect,

Why God formed you, made you so perfect.
Shining for you such beacons genuflect,
The rightness so moulded, creation construed —

Your skin and bones, beautiful and true.

Such dust and ash, made good, in all respects.

—–

Graciousness —He bled for our disrespect,

Made you to be loved, adored though imperfect.

That’s why this man looks, catching your eyes true.

So perfect, stars in the sky they reflect.

——

Why he takes time, drinking you in –perfect,

Wonders how you’re created with such affect.

Made so he sees you and becomes unglued,

Knows his world is changing, each day proves —

Love of you, his girl, how you both connect.

So perfect, stars in the sky reflect.

Poem: Free Verse – ” The Truth”

The following is a re-blog and re-edited version of an old poem I found:

pearl-in-clam
Credit: http://www.globe-views.com

The Truth is as a pearl,

polished and genuine,

Gleaming in the waters still.

Deep beneath where the —

Light dances and shimmies on the water’s surface.

It is something taken for granted, something I gave up.

It’s became this hole inside my heart burning, seething,

Twisted and warped beyond recognition.

An evil formed out of something so pure.

A repulsive ugliness which strangles me.

I want to give you that pearl let it gleam in the sun;

Let it adorn a jeweled neck, a sign of hope on a beauties breast.

But I lied and I took our security away,

I lashed myself tight to seaweed, strands of purple haze, watery worries —

They will be my grave, they will make you despise me.

For I am broken soul now and I cannot turn around.

I am set in my ways, though I wail and turn wane.

You are the light of a pearl, the soft flick of ashes, your lashes —

The soot of my pain, as I lie to you again.

The scent of those ashes, that burning acrid smell;

Reminds me of churches, of a place purer than pearls.

Where the air is so still I can hear my breath wrack,

Hear my heart beat, find forgiveness relief.

As I cry in my soul, it’s forgiven but torn.

While you pray to nothing, it separates us more.

I speak of a heart beat between you and me,

A quiet place we rest, but you make me cry in pain.

Wound me, complete me, and I bite my tongue

As my wry wit replies, to the pain on my peaches and cream,

The  bruises the aches in my legs, to find no peace.

In that, there is nothing but the trapping of my lies,

The seaweed grief come to strangle my reprieve.

A word of love, taken back, a thought, perhaps, I care little.

But when I am skin to skin and feel,

As close as to anyone that I’ve ever been,

When I would give to you what I’d give to no one else,

You turn your back, you leash me, stop my attempts to train,

So I swirl in and out of this complicated romance, the jumper in the whirlpool.

The one plashless, hopeless because she cannot take back time,

Thinks you and the pearl that glimmers in her eye, would have never been,

Had she not minced words and told you:

“I feel nothing — leave me be;

I enjoy the closeness but you are no shiny pearl of truth.”

I see the future unravel, unruly, uninvited coming near,

Ending because you refuse to believe,

In the significance of ashes and churches.

Because I refuse to live in the world,

The woman with a pearl around her neck.

It’s chocking me, the truth, it slides,

A warm gold chain that clasps the pearl in place,

Tightens the pearl around me neck,

Until lost breath is imminent.

When will I say them, those impending words?

When will I say it I cannot trust you,

I cannot tell the truth,

You choose to do works when faith is needed.

You hurt me, and care little to understand me,

My lips seal the words, close them in a box, turn the key;

Pandora’s box ready to unleash this pearl of wisdom,

Perhaps, wise words, but there are no wise-men here.

Poetry: Free Verse – “Woman On Fire” #amwriting #poetry

http://www.pinterest.com

———-

Animosity conspires within her belly,

Her reactions fast, lightening sparks.

She stalks through corridors and hallways,
Blood boiling, melting inner warmth of heart.

No one speak of  what’s right or the truth.

The bottom line — what is right or true,

Meant nothing when they used her.

And the fire flits through her system,

She’s wants to burn the world down,

What made a gentle song bird, claw back viciously?

The wrath of Maleficante, innocence stolen.

Now, the swagger of her hips,

Is a femme fatele arising,

Wingspan of dragon, breathing flames of fire.

Beating down the masses, burning pyres,

Magnificent rage multiplying.

Try to stop her, it’s in her being now.

Her heart is blazing flare of woe.

Be watchful and be wary,

Someone, something, hurt her fiendishly —

A soft woman breaks most brutally,

When her inner demons burn in wrath.

She’s diligent and mean — so lost,

All her love sprung and fled.

Appears as if she should be wimpering,

But when she talks her words scorch

Heavy smoke will make you cough and choke,

It’s a dense whirling mass,

That sends ruthless cowards to their knees.

Before fire can blister and raze you,

The smoke will leave you dying,

No breath of life in her has forgiven.

Don’t hurt a soft smart woman,

She’s most dangerous;

Because when her dams break open,

All hell leaks forth.

Demon woman, betting on retribution,

No absolution, no temperance,

They’ve flown away, murdered by spite.

A reckless beauty in pink, with pearls,

Diamonds changed for rubies, tinder red glare.

Her price for life is costly,

Sparked by a wreckless cause,

Anger building, layer open layer molds.

She’s become the wretched clouds,

Above the Valcono seething.

And sulphuric rain’s in her power,

No water to save and cool you,

From a dragons lair or breathe of flame.

Another way to die —

 Like she dies inside, daily,

Consumed by all her hatred;

Marked by vengeful ire.

She’s become her indignation,

She’s fury and resentment.

A witches pot brewing,

Antagonism, tears, and vexation.

She will set afire and raze her foe.

Dangerous and furious words,

Melting magma from stones.

She burns inside, and all that’s left —

Ashes killing, if exhaled.

Dust she compresses, from the barren world,

Her flame, herself broken once too often.

Wretched soft woman,

Destroying the world and herself.

That’s why kind gentle women,

Should never be screwed with,

Once destroyed —

They bring the world down with them.

Poem: Diamanté – ” Fire, Phoenix, Light, and Darkness” #poetry #amwriting #music

“Just Like Fire” – P!nk

——

Fire,
Scorching, Singeing.

Destroying, Cleansing, Burning all.

Sparks inside me, embers glowing.

Remenants of yesterday dying.

Acrid smell, Burnt scent, Dusty death.

Blowing winds, Becoming but —

Ashes.

——–

Fire,

Flaming, Fluid heat,

Interrupting life, Avenging, Lighting pathways.

Devastating the place called home.

Lighting the way back to safety, when enclosed.

Luminous candle, Glowing street lamp, Gleaming stars.

Beaming, Brighten’s with —

Light.

——

Ashes,

Grey silt, Smokey remains.

Leftovers, Burnt black-wood, Coughing fits.

From the ashes, rises the grand Phoenix.

Still the Phoenix becomes the fire.

Spreading fast, Blackening souls, Killing life.

Warmth, Hearth,

Fire.

—–

Phoenix,

Reddish feathers, Flying past,

Wings spanning, Soaring fast, Exploring the sky.

The fire brings the smoke to rise in plumes,

The smoke also signals rebirth — to live again.

Light in Darkness, Glistening stars, Glazing flame.

Hope in , Glory of —

Light.

—–

Light

Beaming, Revealing,

Unravelling mystery, Untwisting falsehood, Enlightening knowledge.

Shadow has no place to hide from light;

Darkness loves the corners hidden.

Nightmares, Souls which quake, Fear Whispers,

Gloomy, Depressing,

Darkness.

—-

Dark,

Twilight falling, Shaded sky,

Creeps in Shadow, Blackening, Opaqueness.

Not a breath of light or air to spare in life;

Darkness in death, leads to despair without hope.

Taking Cover, Teasing Fate, Testing Boundaries.

The End, Fini,

Death.

—-

Death,

Scythe wielded, Bones rattling,

Soul gone, Decaying body, Empty shell.

The dead will rise at the end of days;

But until then, those of light stay in rays.

Breath of freshest air,  No worries, No sorrow,

Peace, Promise Kept,

Heaven.

—–

Fire,

Blazing inferno, Uncontrollable,

Crisp hearts, Burnt hands, Wild fire’s agony.

Fire cooks our food, the first discovery of man;

But fire too, is life and rebirth; death is not the end.

Renewing life, Forest regrowing, Animals returning,

Hopeful for, Breath of —

Life.

Three Line Tales: You Gave Me Your Time Piece #amwriting #fiction #3Linetales

Thank you to Sonya of Only 100 Words for hosting #3LineTales.

——-

Rachel Crowe

——

1. You gave my your time piece, a silver heavy object, you kept in your suit pocket watching it often as time tick-tocked away; you were healthy, smiling, said you needed me to keep your watch close.

2. You gave me your time piece and I did not understand why at first; it was only a silly pocket watch and it ticked and it tocked as you feverishly slept in bed, growing sickly, pale, thinner, and telling me your time was coming.

3. You gave me your time piece, I knew what it meant now; we’d no children to pass it onto, we were both so young; yet, here I am, holding your ashes in an urn and as I throw them into the troubled ocean, it occurs to me in the silence –the time piece stopped ticking.
