Humming,

As the bird who’s —

Thrumming in the air,

Struggling for each flutter so

Rapid; so utterly fast it’s blurring.

My wings in flight are haze to you,

You don’t see underneath;

Desperation,

Humming.

——

Darkness,

Arising in —

My stomach, spiraling,

To the surface out of my —

Broken soul that I mend in those worlds found,

In each and every story, novels —

Ending hiding; I’m no —

Crab in my shell’s —

Darkness.

——-

In dreams,

I writhe, I twist,

Tales of old and new —

Follow me when enters Sandman,

To calm adventures stripping me of sleep.

But just as I live in my books,

I live in nightmarish —

Tales at midnight,

In dreams.

——-

Awake,

Oh, sheltered one.

Let the black smoke rise, cleanse

Your body from your shattered self,

Set free your mind, let your spirit live,

Life’s the greatest adventure,

Stories read fill gaps;

Burst forth spirit,

Awake.

———

Cherries,

You’re sexy  as,

Women who curl cherry —

Stems into knots with skillful tongues.

Unafraid to bare your body,

When it’s appreciated.

With love, you expose your —

Soul; All for ripe

Cherries.

—-

As books,

Sweet red cherries,

From the Okanagan,

A valley of delicacies.

Driving through B.C. in summer, you —

Stop at every fruit stand,

Selling juicy fruit — truths;

Cherries savored,

As books.

—–

Smokescreen,

Floats up swirls as —

Papal smoke; the blackness,

Forgiven reading thousands

Of tales, every genre, every language.

Devouring ‘reads’ as cherries,

Demons gone; living with —

Wisdom taught, no —

Smokescreen.

——

Light’s glow,

In each tale read.

Nourishes souls; keeps me —

Aching to learn, wanting to know,

Of worlds, fantastic characters —

With hubris, compelling charm.

While some characters are —

Searching hard for,

Light’s glow.

—–

Writing,

It filled holes,

Torn in souls, in hearts wrecked,

The reader became author,

Discovering within her fingers lies a —

Haven, a solace of peace, rest;

Because the story grows —

In her, exposing —

Writing.

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – “What Made You Feel?”

http://www.hercampus.com

—–

What made you feel indifferent?

Maybe, prayers fell, deaf ears sent.

Was there a past you couldn’t conceal?

Pieces of you broken that wouldn’t seal.

Is it virtuous, living disguised, behind those lies?

Tattered rags of curtains, not letting light revise.

—-

Weren’t you appreciated?

Your daily deeds not compensated.

There is no authenticity,

Sense of responsibility.

Creating patterns of actions you keep rueing.

Never stopping, thinking of your undoing.

—–

Head pounding with aches and much pain.

A serenade of that refrain.

In life, trying to give back something real,

Searching for options to make ‘heart’ feel.

Dragging baggage with these hollow truths you lived,

Praying profoundly, learning each day to forgive.

—–

Opposing what’s not genuine,

Who are we to judge the refined,

Potters clay, our maker so formed,

Knowing perfectly His shape born.

Creations designed to honour and befriend, to share —

What made you feel? I remembered to care.

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer:  A Nice Young Guy

Janine was willed a vintage car by her Grandpa. She opened the door on the right side of the car and sat inside. The glove compartment was open and Janine saw a letter with her name on it:

My Dearest Janine,

Nothing a man loves can compare with the love of a good woman. When I meant Jessica, I was stupified when I saw her and I hit her with this car.

I rushed out of the car scared I had hurt her, but Jessica looked at me with a smile in her chocolate brown eyes and she fluffed her mahogany hair. She was fine.

We dated briefly and she became your Grandma. That’s why I kept this car so long. It reminds me of how I met her.

I’m sending you on a singles trip around Europe. Prepare to learn and share experiences with men who will appreciate the real you as you travel. I’m sure you’ll meet a nice young guy.

Love,

Grandpa
