Notable Quotes: November 2017 Part One #quotes #pinterest

Another half of month gone by, wasn’t it just Halloween? I think between projects, family, friends, other stuff, and my growing pile of stories and poetry I want to work on, it’s easy to become lost in everything. It’s important to stay grounded In life and to understand that your stressors and issues are yours to bear with help and that others too are going through life events and problems that are overwhelming for them.

I miss being younger and carefree and having the ability to eventually finish my To – Do lists. I miss doing more creative fiction and blogging more but with project writing, other things going on, and my creative writing projects that require off-blog work, lately it’s been hard to keep up. Frankly, those off-blog pieces are met with little energy at the end of the day but I’m trying to keep up with a poem or two every couple of days and hopefully will return to some semblance of a blog schedule in December.

Nevertheless, there is power in words to lift us up, find balance, and find healing too. Enjoy!

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer: Nasty Courtyard Neighbours #amwriting #flashfiction

——

Our condo building has many square courtyards that can be purchased with a high rise condo so that a family can have their own place to garden and have barbecues. Parallel to us was another courtyard, higher up, and we detested the people who used it as they were loud, obnoxious, and cooked a great deal of smelly seafood.

You cannot exactly complain to the landlord about this, although, I tried unsuccessfully. The garbage and beer bottles they threw on our courtyard when we weren’t there proved they had to be breaking some bylaws as did their noise pollution extending beyond 10:00 p.m.

Nevertheless, our twelve-year old daughter, Jeseme, up late on a Saturday and gabbing in the courtyard with her friend, finally had enough of these neighbours and as I am told, screamed bloody murder and more to them in a way as adults, we only wished we could have done earlier. Apparently Jeseme was so frightening the nasty neighbours sold their courtyard and a lovely retired couple purchased the ill kept space. They also have a granddaughter who is the same age as Jeseme and her and April have become fantastic friends. A win win situation from my perspective.

Poem – Free Verse (Audio) – “Just Ask” #amwriting #poetry #audio

———

You might not understand,
I don’t know how to say,

It hurts when I’m not invited,

When you forget me anyways.
I know I’m quiet,

I know I’m ill,

I know transportation can be difficult,

But often, I can work it out.

I’d rather you ask,

Than just assume,

I can’t make it,

Or attend at all,

I’d rather you said something

Than nothing at all.

Instead I see photographs.

And I was never involved.

Most times this doesn’t bother me,

Only when it happens,

More and more.

When I see,

Many friends and acquaintances,

I had no idea at all.

I don’t think it’s selfish

For me to say ask.

I just want to be involved,

To see my friends and others too.

To have a social life,

Not to be judged

Deemed boring or not thought about.

It hits a place inside me,

Where I feel disappointed,

I feel a bit destroyed.

Do I disappear from your minds so readily?

That you didn’t even think to ask,

Even if it’s last minute.

Even if you thought I wouldn’t go,

You should’ve given me the choice

Cause it really feels–

You don’t think of me much.

As if I’m a problem too big to deal with,

Like I ruin the fun.

Your good time.

It’s not fair —

But such is life,

Because I’m chronically broken,

I’m not my fun-self anymore.

I’m just me,

And I thought we were friends,

But that means,

Now and again,

Think about me.

Let me come along,

Even if you think I’ll say no.

It might surprise you,

I’m coping well.

Put yourself in my place.

But I’ve learned the hard way,

To never expect.

Because if you count on people,

A great many of them,

They let you down.

Caught up in their own lives;

BFF’s aren’t always forever,

And sometimes I hate,

Feeling alone,

I’d rather you asked,

Then assumed

I wasn’t able to go.

Photo (Collage) Challenge: Poem – Cinquin – “What Love Means” #taleweavers #amwriting #poetry

Thank you to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s collage prompt:

Love it —

Must be more than,

What Emma simply says,

When You’re losing,

Your teeth.

——–

She says,

Quite clearly,

And she’s only six-years,

But she’s wise for —

Her age.

——–

Wisdom,

Just children have,

Amaze adults revealing that,

Love is more than,

We think.

——-

Complete,

And comfortable,

Smiling without teeth ’cause,

Your friends love you,

For you.

—–

No matter,

You’re missing teeth,

And have gapes in your mouth,

Friends care not, love —

Anyways.

——-

Of all,

Kids’ memories,

The best to remember,

Innocence made.

Without —

——–

Judgement,

Only fighting,

Over favourite toys,

Grudges not kept,

Hands held.

——

Pets like,

Favourite cats,

Laughing at penguins from,

Favourite movies loved,

With Friends.

——-

Second —

Homes, each other’s —

Houses; kids come and go,

Colouring,

Painting.

——–

Spending,

Childhood doing,

All the activities kids,

Should be doing,

Laughing —

——–

Over,

Funny things told,

Not really funny but,

Giggling stuck,

Can’t stop.

——-

As kids,

Laugh at every,

Age; children’s innocence,

Refreshing and,

So kind.

——

Especially,

When they teach us,

Lessons like to love anyway,

Family and friends,

Anyone.

—–

Kids play,

Not realizing,

World’s complicated; let —

Children be free

Always.

Poem: NaPoWriMo 2016 – Lune – ” Leaving ”

Prompt:

Today, I challenge you to write a lune. This is a sort of English-language haiku. While the haiku is a three-line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable count, the lune is a three-line poem with a 5-3-5 syllable count. There’s also a variant based on word-count, instead of syllable count, where the poem still has three lines, but the first line has five words, the second line has three words, and the third line has five words again. Either kind will do, and you can write a one-lune poem, or write a poem consisting of multiple stanzas of lunes. Happy writing!

Please visit www.napowrimo.net for more information.

Peering your way advertent obscure,

Days have passed,

Shards of glass inside me.

——-

Why is sorrow so meaningless.

Make it better,

Hear me out; you refuse.

——-

Coupledome requires us both to,

Tell the truth,

Communication is key; so listen.

——-

Capricious games are not me,

I’m not playing,

Whatever joke you’re about today.

——-

Be serious, moments are fading,

I’m still waiting,

How many nights spent crying?

——-

Brokenness, requires feeling I think,

To care enough,

Feeling gutted and raw inside.

——

Thought we were supposed to,

Make our lives,

Lasting moments for each other.

——

Carelessness, you have no soul,

Once you loved,

Love has grown thin, cold.

—–

In Purgatory, if you believe,

What Catholics teach,

Frightening fire, burning soot reeks.

—–

Fire enthrals passion, makes heat.

But you’re ice,

Was there ever crackling flames?

—-

Again, convinced myself you were,

Healthy for me,

Should’ve kept searching and hoping.

—–

Now, I’m raw, inside out.

Sobbing mess living.

Making or breaking; I’m leaving.

—–

You don’t hear me leave,

It’s fine because —

You never saw me anyways.
