You might think it peculiar to let kids,

Be small, to let them be silly, weird,

When most of their life is spent in,

‘Adulting,’ learning how to,

Be big, responsible,

I say as Auntie:

Let them be them,

Creative,

Full of,

Fun.

——

Let,

Them be,

Wild beings,

Think of stories,

Imaginative,

And implausible, but —

Believe them because you’re,

Playing along, taller tales,

Demonstrate creativity,

For kids, it keeps them young, growing older.

——

Think of tilting towers, Big Ben in blue –

Green prairie sky, a storm brought him here.

But he bends, tilts just because and,

Storm brought along a grand,

Gothic cathedral roof,

Pointed top I’m sure —

Missed somewhere; hot —

Air balloon,

Holds our,

Dreams.

—–

Where,

We live

With such rich,

Possibility.

Imagining,

Tall towers floating in,

Moon lit skies, princesses,

Saving themselves, jumping from,

Clouds, the moon indeed smiling so proud,

Girls and boys — escape from their own towers.

——

Locked fortresses floating, new challenge,

Escaping by flying pirate ships old,

Never turning back to the light,

Of a trapped home, wishing most,

To be little, secure,

Not worry about,

A dragon’s fire,

A port in,

Mid-air,

Light.

—–

Sought,

In night’s,

Binding grip,

All children search,

For understanding,

A hug and kiss when they’re lost,

Hurt, or at least a safe place works.

For home; mom’s gentle touch when,

Nightmares thrive; become to real, kids hide;

But parents are there, provide a haven.

——-

So encourage kids to harness their,

Creativity, to paint and draw,

To find their passions in life, so —

Maybe they can live them too.

Or find a haven in,

Their talents, their skills,

Urging away,

Stress; relief,

‘Cause life,

Hurts.

—–

So,

We teach,

Live your dreams,

Let them unwind

You; be as free as

Butterflies; don’t be tacked,

To a board on the wall kept.

Fly lovely, safe, remembering,

Humanity is indeed so —

Delicate at times; you’re not invincible.

—–

But in the power of the imagination,

You can always escape the threads,

Binding you to reality.

You can have liberty,

Smile, eat your cake too,

And hopefully,

Your partner,

The one who,

Loves you,

Most.

—–

Has,

Their own,

Inner child,

Understands and,

Knows, love is gentle,
Love is fiery, bold,

Love and creativity,

Both hold; let you be dauntless, free,

Full of life, security to —

Be held; be wild both as adult and child.

I’m not of those women who will assure you,

You can get by, by the skin of your teeth.

That life is simply chance, fortuitous

I think you’re inexperienced,

You don’t see the entire picture,

Each of us is a piece in the mosaic, the grand design.

—–

Perhaps since your famous, you’ll buy two pairs of jeans?

But not caring about the seams of your pants,

Them being too loose — it’s a guy thing.

Sorry to ruin your charade, life is more than —

Your own version of serendipity

Events that occur to us can be wickedly sad.

—–

Whether we learn and/or hurt — there’s  a reason,

An intelligent designer has time arranged,

I don’t worry, for different reasons — His plans give security,

If you land on your feet, you’re one lucky guy.

I guess the fates are angry, their scissors keep snapping.

To me its obtuse to believe blindly in chance.

——

There are times I believe in spontaneity,

But there’s a time and a place with —

A kind of reasoning called: calculated risks.

I’m unsure why you don’t think ahead (don’t play chess).

I’m not old but I think I’ve experiences you won’t,

Be carefree at heart, but realize —adult responsibility.

——

You’re blessed with your health, go where you want,

I think, there’s been few troubles to scar you.

You sing empty songs, I find little depth,

Serendipity isn’t chance, it’s a miracle unfurled.

Behind the scenes action, you haven’t foreseen.

Glad you’re fine, but you’re missing a few screws.

——

It’s not that I’m bitter; it’s not that I don’t see,

What your trying to say in your round about way.

I’m saying that life, I’ve learned, is never a fluke,

We have minds to think and consider — to use.

Despite ineptness, your kind heart shows true,
Next hit song —think your lyrics thoroughly through.

Poem: Acrostic – ” Loyalty of Friendship”

The prompt for Poetry 101 is friendship in an acrostic.

——–

Laughing, my confidante, you never tell my secrets.

On travels everywhere, we were in awe by history’s splendor.

Young and free we were once; before love, and life, pets, and kids.

And the friendship has shifted; the laughter at adult adventures.

Loving how we always come back to exactly where we left off talking.

Trust is a bind woven between us; the threads of life keep us honest.

Years pass, though distance parts; our friendship stretches, never breaks.

Maydays: Poem – Shadorma – “Could Be You Some Day” #Maydays #amwriting

———

Thank you to the wonderful K.L. Caley of new2writing for hosting #Maydays prompts. This prompt I mentioned in today’s #Maydays prompt. It concerns all things geek.

——-

http://www.theenquirer.co.uk

———-

Geek sheek is,

There such a term we,

Simply don’t —

Care to know,

Because we don’t want to be a geek.

Memories; childhood.

——-

Bullies,

Abused the,

Geeks who in,

Our schools, were —

Nerds shoved into lockers and,

Forgotten about ’till —

——-

Mr. X let,

Nerdy guy out; he —

Never helps,

Much, Mr. X —

Won’t stop bully from hurting,

Kids; he pretends it’s play.

——

Movies don’t,

Aid kids who become,

Targets at —

School because,

For some reason geeks stand out,

Fate aids her bullies.

——-

Why are some,

Children left —

Alone? While some,

Lose their lunch —

Money, to mean kid who made,

Them bleed, inside out.

——

And parents,

Who don’t see their child,

Bullying —

Beware your,

Child’s cruelty leads kids to die;

Commit suicide.

——–

What makes a —

Geek? I’ve never been one,

So it’s hard,

For me to,

Generalize; perhaps, you can’t?

Bully choose prey anyways.

——

Call them geek,

Not sheek; teenagers,

And children,

Abused by,

Jealous, mean people; it’s fine —

To bully, they think.

——-

Now they pick,

On geeks online on,

Their Facebook,

Snapchat and,

Chat rooms; abounding with hate.

But change in adulthood.

——-

World turns,

When that geek you hit.

Is your boss,

Separating,

You from promotions deserved.

Shouldn’t have punched him.

——

Now the geeks,

Are truly sheek and,

Are making,

Millions and —

Millions more than your pay cheque.

But the difference here–

——

Maybe they —

After some payback,

Have pity,

On you and —

Your friend, who work under them.

They know what it’s like.

——–

So kids when,

You’re attending school,

Think ahead,

You’re not young,

Forever; the geek you hurt —

One day, could hurt you.

Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: Let The Deer Be

My Dad’s family moved around because Grandpa was a Pastor and at times, Grandpa chose to accept a call to a different congregation in the country. My Grandpa taught his boys to hunt. I can’t say whether or not my Uncle D would have taught his sons to hunt because he died when his boys were still young.

But my Uncle K has taught his sons. I feel speechless when I see pictures of my barely adult cousins, standing on top of a buck’s corpse, proudly. My Dad never hunted much when his children came along, but my family was the recipient of meat from hunted animals when I was younger.

There are few reasons I see for hunting. I think the only valid reasons are if a predator is a danger to humans or if an animal population is overpopulated and a danger to the ecosystem of an area. But for sport or fun . . .we have grocery stores now, let the wild animals be.

One of the scariest times I can remember was sleeping in my one Uncle D’s basement. My eldest brother and I slept in a room and there were dead animals all around us. There was a giant grizzly bear rug on the floor and deer heads on the wall. There were other deer-like animal heads on the wall too. Their fake eyes stared at me throughout the night and I could not sleep, “You lookin, at me?” I wondered.

I was young, but it makes me think now, what need have we to kill these creatures. Why hunt if not for survival. I know I’m a city girl but it seems to me at times, our inner caveman comes out and forgets it’s modern times — let the deer be.
