Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting last week’s Tale Weaver prompt which is a story about why touch is important.

I didn’t understand it, we’d been dating a year and Raph never touched me in public. He didn’t mind when I rubbed his back in the mall or if I made the effort to lace my fingers through his. When I first pecked him on the cheek in public he blushed bright red.

I asked him one day why he didn’t touch me in public. In private he couldn’t keep his hands off me. He didn’t mind cuddling at home and he often tangled his hand in my hair or massaged the back of my neck while we watched TV. I adored these touches but didn’t understand why he was afraid to initiate small bits of PDA.

I explained to Raph how it was important to me because it made me feel like I was his, that he loved me, and didn’t care what anyone else thought of us. He was angry at first and confused, but the next day as we grocery shopped he linked his pinky through mine while we waited to pay.

Two days later he casually put his arm around my shoulders at his friend’s house. I snuggled into him kissing him when his buddy went to grab more beer. I linked my pinky with his and smiling, Raph returned the kiss as his friend walked into the living room. I was thrilled Raph understood how much these small touches meant to me.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 28 – Sonnet Petrarchan – “Beach Peace” #amwriting #poetry

Prompt Day 28: Picture Prompt – Beach

http://www.publicdomainpictures.net

——–

Of all the places I love to visit,

The beach is my most adored place of peace.

Tide goes in and out, a rhythm ceaseless,

Hands, toes buried in sand, sitting in it.

Gorgeous place, with blue skys and sun gifted.

I watch the children build their castles pleased,

Towers, moats built –they knock it all down ungrieved.

Reading novel, sunlight my spirits lifts.

——-

Can anything beat wading, two-miles or so,

The water just rising around calves low;

Sunscreen reapplied, temperature hot, glow —

Of the light on water beaded skin, gleaming.

Tranquility found in sand, surf, sun dreams;

Natures temple, relax, unwind; heart beams.

——-

You say it’s delicious, you haven’t tasted,

Anything as savoury as this food.

Your words need changing, not to be wasted,

On food of women, snuck in your bedroom.

——-

I’ll help you understand, I’m not one to be —

Crossed; when you don’t come home I wonder where,

Who you’ve been with? I cook dinner fancy,

Your favorite foods, savoury taste, you swear.

——-

But this night has been waiting; I’m scared,

Tired, always being second, to some whore.

Eat food and choke; poisoned you’re most aware,

Should’ve been home; other men me adored.

——-

Were you ashamed of your own wife you wed?

You cared not for me; fortunes mine –you’re dead.

Poem: Lunes – “Nature’s Rule.”

Today’s Poetry 101 prompt is landscape with apostrophe (directed to a specific person or an object).

Mother nature
http://www.imgwide.com

Something about blazing summer warmth,

You can experience,

Deep peace, through your bones.

Sun shimmering down on home.

And I appreciate,

Your magnificent view surrounding us.

Some call you Mother Earth,

Others say Gaia,

Some say you’re only Nature.

Queen of fresh bustling growth.

Flowers bursting forth,

With blooms; fruit maturing later.

Grandiose bites of peaches sticky,

Dribbling down my —

Chin; gifts provided, by nature.

Leaves crispy, flourishing, growth budding.

Sky alive pours.

Increasing farmer’s yield; harvest amplifying.

The world turns and you answer.

Seasons in exact,

Moment of time revealed true.

You magnificent lady; dancing in —

Summer’s dreaming months,

You tease; before snow sprinkles.

Gigantic mountains, shifting in time,

You allow them,

Crash, crush, erupt; tectonic formations.

Baby animals; fuzzy and adored.

Their seasons pass.

Time taking back; new born.

Eyes scanning the vastness of,

Your empire; nature,

Praying we don’t interfere; destroy.

Asking Creator for peace, grace.

Don’t let humans,

Ruin earth; mother nature’s domain.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Musette – “I Saw Him First”

img_1070-4

And now, for our prompt (optional, as always). Today I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that tells a story. But here’s the twist – the story should be told backwards. The first line should say what happened last, and work its way through the past until you get to the beginning. Now, the story doesn’t have to be complicated (it’s probably better if it isn’t)! Here’s a little example I just made up:

Please see NaPoWriMo for further information.

The Musette, created by Emily Romano is a poem that consists of three verses of three lines each. The first lines have two syllables; the second lines have four syllables, and the third lines have two syllables. The rhyme scheme is a/b/a for the first verse; c/d/c for the second verse, and e/f/e for the third verse. The title should reflect the poem’s content.

Please see Shadow Poetry for more information on a Musette.

Dead on —

Stairs; Rose stares off,

Glimpse gone.

Seeing,

Nothing anymore,

Freeing.

Walking,

Out of her house,

Gawking.

Neighbours,

Fighting again,

Wavers.

Inside,

Drinking hot tea,

Resides.

Cleaning —

House, Restoring,

Gleaming.

China–

Dolls glistening.

Kinda.

Alone,

No one else home,

Enthroned.

Her chair,

Sit wondering,

Not fair.

Jil took,

Has Ted and kids,

Ted’s looks.

Rose wants —

Ted; Jil stole him,

Jil flaunts.

Young Rose,

Beauty gifted,

Such Pose.

First time,

Rose saw Ted stare,

Sublime.

They kiss,

Under stairs hide,

In bliss.

Before,

Jilly saw him,

Adored.

Rosey,

Girl every guy,

Mostly —

Wanted.

Rosey saw Ted,

Sauntered.

Jilly,

Loved Ted, before

Rosey.
