Out on Kayaks arrived on beach,

Where topaz sea foam ocean waves crashed.

Topaz turns Santorini blue soft

Calm waves shallow bring us, into shore.

Shedding life jackets and wetsuits left,

Zippers released quick; swimsuits worn,

Nothing but comfort for us here now.

We lie on white sands relaxed our —

Bodies tired, cleansing breath respired.

After hours paddling through far out —

Seas where the ocean waves fought us hard.

Tangling our fingers we absorb sun-

Light; we dry out and sleep, towels,

Our beds as we’re dead still, post kayake —

Slumber, sunglasses cover poppy —

Eyes in drugged sleep; we’re contented souls,

The soothing lull of tide rhythm of —

Our beach life desired most until,

We’re forced to return to our home.

To the city, our condo precious

Tranquil and never unloved but;

For moments we lay here at peace our,

Lives restored by kayaking and such,

Lazy naps in ocean sands adored.

Leonard was absorbed by the red hues of the wide Arizona desert. It was hot outside in the late spring, the cascading layers of rock enthralling and the green shrubs and cacti complementing the red cliffs. Here Leonard could be alone with his thoughts, far from the problems of his life.

No one was chasing him in the desert. No one was telling him he wasn’t allowed to set fire to buildings. No one was insisting Leonard couldn’t punch a guy in the face and start fighting because Leonard didn’t like how the guy was looking at him, or that the guy had a hot girlfriend which Leonard did not. In the desert, no one knew how much money he’d stashed away in offshore accounts from the company where he’d been an accountant with a falsified identity, these past two-years.

Out here in the desert, there was serenity and quiet. Leonard would in an hour, catch a private plane and reclaim his offshore funds. But he wasn’t counting on the rattle snake who bit his leg when he stood up and stepped on the snake accidentally.

The snake’s poisonus venom made Leonard numb in minutes. Quickly he was fading into obscurity and death; the bright red Arizona desert claiming him for all his wrongs. How curious a snake would kill a snake

Hungry trees,

Flesh, bone,

Graves for —

Some.

Others,

Jump from

Branches; they

Fly, liberated.

Words echoing,

Clench heart,

Safe keeping,

Locked.

Hungry,

Thieves, conspiring,

Evil found,

Hold me.

—-

Spirits flying,

Running, screaming,

Terror finds,

Us.

Hurdling,

Uniting bodies,

Pillows absorbed,

Warmth’s lack.

—-

Hungry pines,

Needles deadly,

Grabbing greedily,

Wanting.

This,

Connection stubborn,

Maddening laughter,

Protecting me.

Pine’s hungry,

We’re quicker,
Sliding sagely,

Loving.

Deeper,

You’ll find,

Us bends,

Your mind.

Contemplate and speculate,

Absorbed in careful thoughts explore.

Searching within, why am I torn?

Decisions difficult await.

——

I’m no philosopher ruminating,

Wonder without, within my core.

Contemplate and speculate.

Absorbed in careful thoughts explore.

——-

Thinking, wears one out, unsated,

Answers true or some folklore.

Scientific explanation, something more?

Faith and the heart have their say made.

——–

Contemplate and speculate

——–

What is wrong and what is done right?

Consumed by such thoughts of inner voice.

The problem: always, forever, having choice

Sometimes the wish to never think fights.

——-

Float away, grace whirlpool, without sight.

Easier to be blind than make your choice.

What is wrong and what is done right?

Consumed by such thoughts of inner voice.

——-

Is there strength in your heart, might?

Or do you follow whoever’s voice?

Let others think for you, make choices.

Choosing right, requires foresight.

What is wrong and what is done right?

——–
Doesn’t matter where I venture to,

Doesn’t mean much when I’m absorbed,

Inclination is to think,

Of Moments with him past,

Why isn’t he here now,

Inside I Know,

He’s left me,

Feeling,

Cold.

———-

Wandering in search of you, you’d,

Think I’d ponder why you’re vapour,

Why I haven’t seen your face,

Glancing you from a far,

You can’t comprehend,

What it is to,

Want and not,

Hold close,

You.

——-

Drinking down frosty beer, she’s somewhere near,

Dreaming about how it feels to kiss her,

Hold her close, breath her in,

Said words that haunt my fears,

Can you take words back,

Watching her sip,

With her lips,

I miss,

Her.

My Thoughts, Nonfiction, Poetry, Wrapped Refrain, Writing

Poem: Wrapped Refrain – “Forbidden.”

What is a wrapped refrain? A poem created by Jan Turner, consisting of 2 or more stanzas of 6 lines each with the rhyme scheme of a,a,b,b,c,c. and syllable counts: 8,8,8,8,12,12, where the first 4 syllables of the first line must repeat as the last 4 syllables of the last line, thus creating a refrain.

Thanks to Moon Skittles for information on this poetry form.

Commiserate, here with the sound,

Engrossed by obscure visions found,

Entranced by the consuming,

The glow of esconced words luming,

A treasure of enumerable value locked in kind,

With the resilience of the memories she did find.

—–

Unawares of surroundings,

Luminescence on the groundlings,

Pronounced prose by her spirit’s intent,

To immerse and beguile, and not present.

How her eyes flash brilliantly, an enchantment hidden,

Commiserating, absorbing, looks forbidden.
