Mist veils the horizons as sunlight peaks,

Yellowish-glitter highlights the forest in gold dust.

Strange flutters heard as the fog dissipates,

Trite concerns to the silence heard, no boisterous bird peeps.

Everchanging, the fog leaves and returns, slithering into —

Remenants of rabbit holes and homes dug by foxes.

Ill winds blow but the fog conceals their bitterness,

Only the sunlight crawling beneath the fog bodes well.

Universal symbol of hope from night’s darkest creatures still dwelling,

Sounds of eerie flapping again, fading into slumber.

Barbara the Methodist walks by —

Aging, cluttered shop, holds head high.

Her morals don’t permit feeling —

Curious she crosses busy street.

Readings of palms of one’s future —

Advertised; she considers curtly.

Blouse buttoned to her neck, arms folded, righteous ire,

Prays curiousity won’t condemn her to the fire.

——

Martin the mailman delivers —

Packages with symbols, riddles.

Cashier is a friendly goth kid,

Worn man watching frightens Martin.

Knows things he shouldn’t know all too well.

Secrets hid deep, Martin’s own hell;

Tortured with memories from a childhood of sad hurt,

Old man offers help, revenge with a strange voodoo curse.

—-

Danielle at the cash register,

Peers around her, bad vibes incur.

Items of witchcraft and pagan —

Jewelry of Celtic design.

From eons ago polished bright,

Such treasures blend, occult sights.

Shop’s wage pays well, most customers tip buying —

Items for potions and ailments — she’ll keep silence.

—-

Ancient face with creased folds knows much —

Desires that he did not so he plucks,

Courage from reserves to see Barb.

Prudish and angry inferring,

He has a choice in knowing fortunes.

She sneers, he revealed misfortunes —

No matter her believed goodness her false piety,

Barb sees herself righteously  forbidden

——

From the likes of magic healing,

Holistic meds as blood congeals,

In her heart which is dark damning;

Others beaming hope as Barb fans,

Smoke of incense by the mailman.

Sniffs at Danielle’s tattoos all grand,

Demands for him to read her hand, doesn’t know facts,

Barbara the hateful sees not, he reads hearts and fates.

It’s hard to breath when we’re tied to each other’s dreams,

When there’s no space to gasp for breath as we’re both trapped.

We’re too connected, unable to unstitch our seams,

When we desire time away, where we are unclasped.

From the cloth chocking our lungs with unfiltered air,

Set me free, set me free, when we’re closer unwrapped.

Where you can be you and I can be me, that’s fair,

We’re both better people with space in between us;

Permitting us to flourish by ourselves and care —

About each other lovingly as space means more trust.

Stories and adventures to tell each other too,

To be close, skin to skin, soul to soul, not busted.

Together we are breathtaking functioning through —

The worst times and the best times, together we’re soothed.

To each other and ourselves nurtured plants proving —

What it is to be two wholes complementing true,

Each other as we strive in life, our strength doubled

Clean air to breath in the fresh awe inspiring night’s through —

All our joys and troubles, one life and two lives soothed

#OctPoWriMo 28/Sunday Writing Prompts: Poem – Bop – “What Release’s Pain” #amwriting #poetry

For OctPoWriMo 28 I can’t get onto the website at the moment. Perhaps it’s because I am so far behind? Instead, I’ll just be using the Sunday Writing Prompt of Scribblers Dip of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie based on fake band names including: Squirrel Nut Zippers, GoGo Penguins, Abstract Evil Barbie, Bimbo Toolshed, The Pineapples from the Dawn of Time, Reign of Frogs, Devil with Cheese, Stop Calling Me Frank, Loudmouth kitten, and Kissyfoot.

Credit: Yvette de Wit via Unsplash

When I met him, there was no telling of taste,

In horrible music he thought was just great.

I went with him to GoGoPenguin’s shows,

Cringing as he sang to Hard Metal prose.

Lyrics made my insides squirm hearing hate,

He sang with angry fervor berating

There’s never any accounting for taste.

At Abstract Evil Barbie I questioned,

How ‘Barbie’ was perverse, lyrics lessened —

Her value as a child’s toy, words fearful —

Of hurt and frustration sounding eerie

He loved each band, Bimbo Toolshed’s screaming,

Destroying the whole world in pain keening.

Beneath his clever smile he revealed his —

Desire to get back at life with derision

There’s never any accounting for taste.

Reign of the Frogs made me shiver as they sang,

Maliciously damning all those they harangued

I asked him why we couldn’t listen to words —

That were softer, happier, encouraging.

But to him, Stop Calling Me Frank’s words curt

Released the devil inside him stopped his hurt.

There’s never any accounting for taste.

#OctPoWriMo 27/Music Challenge:  “I Swear I Lived” #amwriting #poetry #musicchallenge

OctPoWriMo 27 has a theme based on our favorite flowers. Somehow I’m going to combine this prompt with MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Music Challenge song on “I lived by OneRepublic.

“I lived” – OneRepublic

——

With every broken breath,

I swear I lived.

Pettles in my hands, soft, floating in the wind.

Never forget to slow down,

Tred through daisies.

As our dogs on their walks,

Burying our nose in the fragrance.

Inhaling life with resilience,

Clutching each moment,

As if it’s the last.

Not afraid to touch —

The sun and run,

Using each spare second.

Fearless with triumph,

A will to survive

Ignore the broken bones,

They’ll heal, don’t build walls,

Despite stumbling hard.

Get back up,

Carry on soldier.

Give it all you have, unafraid to jump,

Raising your cup as the sun goes down,

Toasting the journey.

And with —

Choppy breath rasping,

Gaspimg for air,

Own every broken breath,

For every tranquil —

Glittering moment in life,

Keep pushing to survive.

Bring meaning into moments,

Where you’re  —

Fighting to live,

When you realize that life,

Is the blessing you always desired.

#OctPoWriMo Day 26/Tale Weavers: Poem – Free Verse – “Never Again” #taleweavers #poetry #amwriting

OctPoWriMo 26 has a picture theme today, so see below. I’m combining with Tale Weaver Prompt #141 from  Michael of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie. The Tale Weavers Prompt is on the legends of unicorns.

—–

Magic and myth collide,

Rare, blissful;

Amazingly significant.

Hooves strong enough,

To gallop up on dove white wings.

Of Pegasus ‘ lineage,

Eyes blue,

Lapiz Luzili crystals.

Gentle and mild,

Unicorn horn of —

Ivory as elephants;

Kin of narwhales.

Shadowfax at the dawn,

Galloping in the light.

Awe and realization,

A tiny hope blossoms,

As the fire around us burns,

On your back,

I’m not even singed.

My legs hold me close,

Bareback riding,

Feeling muscles,

Awe inspiring strength.

Hot breath labored,

To safety we fly.

In the clouds above the moon,

Where the sun rises,

Droppimg on the softness,
Of the Pacific’s wet sand.

Then you are gone,

Unabashed of —

The stories strangers will tell.

Feeling your history,

The loss of your kin,

Your presence is —

A rarity.

Noble and elegant,

Completely authentic.

Like no other,

It’s why we call what’s rare,

A unicorn,

For it and you,

 Will never be again.

#OctPoWriMo Day 25/ Saturday Mix: Poem – Triolet – “Waves and White Sandy Beaches” #SaturdayMix #poetry #amwriting

OctPoWriMo Day 25 has prompt them on satisfaction and delicious food. Also, combining with Sarah of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix Prompt on opposing words.  The words are above and below and shallow and deep from the October 14, 2027 Prompt.

 ——-

“ Triolet is a traditional poetry form that consists of one stanza that is eight lines long. It has the rhyme scheme ABaAabAB, in which the first, fourth and seventh lines are the same and the second and eighth line are the same.

In the example, we show you how this breaks down, and show you the rhyme scheme:
Line 1 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays. Line 2 (B): When love, and life and I was new Line 3 (a): and full of easy, girl-child ways. Line 4 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays Line 5 (a): before carefree lost to lean-hipped sway Line 6. (b): before I gave me, stained-red to you. Line 7 (A): Take me back to those yesterdays, Line 8 (B): When love and life I was new.”

Waves lullabies in the shallows, granting rest.

Stress below surface melts with Bellinis peach.

Gazing above to warm white sand beaches,

Reading, wadding avoiding ocean deep

Breathing in seasurf, breezes relaxing breath.

Gazing above to warm white sand beaches.

Waves lullabies in the shallows, granting rest.

#OctPoWriMo Day 23/TaleWeavers: Poem – Free Verse – “Curses and Betrayels” #amwriting #poetry #taleweavers

For OctPoWriMo Day 23 the Prompt is on the Greek Mythology tale of Iris the Godess or Rainbows and Arke her twin sister and what is the message of their tale.  I’m combining this with the Tale Weavers prompt making sense of nonsense, using the nonsensical word cloppsright from Michael of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie

Credit: Mahkeo via Unsplash

——-

Cloppsright, a definition,

A stereo type;

What they swear.

Not the lively,

Iris’s fresh brilliance,

Providing hope,

After the storm.

I’m but a shape,

The form an arch;

One fallen,

A woman of sin.

Cloppsright, the curse.

Most use the ‘F’ word these days,

But it used to describe,

Their thoughts,

On a goddesses betrayal.

Chapped lips snarling, learing,

At my black corsettes, ruby red gowns,

Too showy, such a whore

A little cloppsright

Nothing compared to her radiance,

Iris the light.

The brightness of painting pigments.

A sky of azure vivacity,

She’s utter joy.

I’m the darkness,

That seeps inbetween good,

Twisting its form.

The feeling in a room,

Causing you to shiver,

Your hair to rise on end,

When the house is quiet,

When floorboards creak,

My thoughts of loathing,

Of disgust, wreck the night.

For I am the tempestuous storm,

And she is the finale,

The glory of a promise made and kept.

Betrayal is a poison,

And she is but an Iris

A beaming delight, a flower.

But I’m more than an Arke

Shaping lights reflection.

Let her compose and carry,

Her own color.

I’ve torn myself from the sky,

The darker twin.

The seductive cloppsright so fallen,

Nature’s disgrace;

Yet still there is power,

In the silence,

Of grim nights,

Before your fears become real;

My messages bring death

Swear and say cloppsright,

Curse me in your native tongue.

For Iris she withers and Arke rises,

Up into the angry heavens.

#OctPoWriMo Day 24: Poem – Blitz – “Black as Hurt” #dVerse #poetry #amwriting

Thanks to Mush of #dVerse Poet’s Pub for a prompt theme on metaphorical masks. As usual for this month, combining with OctPoWriMo Day 24 prompt on when lovers meet using the Blitz form of poetry.

——-

Credit: Josh Peterson via Unsplash

——-

Darling you wear your mask

Darling you’re in hideous pitch black

Black rooms with no light

Black rooms without hope

Hope is what tells me keep trying

Hope is what tells me keep looking

Looking for someone to love

Looking for someone to share life

Life is amazing

Life could be sweeter

Sweeter as nights by the fire

Sweeter as nights in your arms

Arms that protect and hold

Arms that are safe and warm

Warm as companionship and sensual fire

Warm as a person without a mask

Masks are the problem with today

Masks hide our true selves

Selves but characters we form

Selves unreal and afraid of showing

Showing we care and love

Showing it’s okay enjoying each other’s company

Company that might be more permanent

Company that’s beyond a few days or nights

Nights that are fun, sexy, and happy

Nights making memories of us

Us being are true selves

Us not hiding behind constructed masks

Masks are so deceptive

Masks leave room for too many lies

Lies prevent intimacy

Lies cause pain and hurt

Hurt is what we try to avoid

Hurt is the reason we play these games

Games of waiting to call or text

Games frightening because of our closeness

Closeness is a risk of pain

Closeness means affection and love

Love isn’t without misery

Love is also passion and fights

Fights of jealousy and misreading

Fights to push away someone to near

Near enough to know you’re hurt

Near enough to hold you when there’s tears

Hurt can be healed when we’re honest

Tears can be rare when we’re both unmasked.

Going on a journey for,

Miles and miles,

Aren’t obvious signs so unbelievable

——

So easy to misread, to —

Think succinct words —

Don’t mean what they say.

——

Isn’t it peculair that we —

Refuse easy pathways,

Forever expecting the hard way.
