Hungry trees,

Flesh, bone,

Graves for —

Some.

Others,

Jump from

Branches; they

Fly, liberated.

Words echoing,

Clench heart,

Safe keeping,

Locked.

Hungry,

Thieves, conspiring,

Evil found,

Hold me.

—-

Spirits flying,

Running, screaming,

Terror finds,

Us.

Hurdling,

Uniting bodies,

Pillows absorbed,

Warmth’s lack.

—-

Hungry pines,

Needles deadly,

Grabbing greedily,

Wanting.

This,

Connection stubborn,

Maddening laughter,

Protecting me.

Pine’s hungry,

We’re quicker,
Sliding sagely,

Loving.

Deeper,

You’ll find,

Us bends,

Your mind.

——-

She’s a porpoise in water swim,

Life for her, no playful passing whim.

In gossamer gown, butterfly —

Letting out her breath, with sad sigh.

Out of cocoon perhaps she’ll break?

If breathing didn’t count for her sake.

An angel dipping her wings in the dim.

A lonely child, she floats, won’t swim.

——

Don’t give up your life in a breath,

Child with wings now so brightly set.

You’re no worm to be ashamed,

No worthless being created, blamed.

Diamond glimmers in God’s eye,

He sees in you no flaw, child abide.

You’re precious treasure life or death,

He handles all — porpoise deep breath.

——-

Dive in ocean, swim quick mammal,

Don’t be still — inhale air, expand —

Your lungs to breathe, realize —

Reasons, break cacoon and fly.

Leave world behind, most treasured,

You’re worth much more for measure.

Costly jewel cherished in God’s hand,

Angel breathe; let grief form tears on land.

Poem: Septolet – ” Before Despair Takes Root” #amwriting #poetry

http://www.fantaasiatoidab.deviantart.com

——–

They found,

Him hanging,

From the,

Tree.

Swaying.

Not realizing,

Signs lingered,

Before death.

—-

Despair, shame,

Die with,

Splintered hearts.

We —

Cry,

Can’t perceive

What thoughts,

Tortured him.

—–

He, strangers

Found hanging,

Knotted his,

Rope,

Used,

His hands,

Carryed out,

Tragic Ends.

—–

We’re not,

Able to,

Comprehend why,

A —

Man,

Was desperate,

Enough to,

Silence Life.

—–

We sit,

His friends,

Family asking:

“How–

Could’ve —

We prevented,

Him? So,

He’d be —

——

Yet living,

Among us,

Received help,

Needed?”

—-

But,

He believed,

His pain,

Was misunderstood.

—–

Demons writhing,

In mind,

Smiling face,
Masking.

Those,

Who appear,

Most humorous,

Fracture worst.

—-

Cloaked, in

Darkness each,

Jocular day,

Lived.

Suppressing,

A secret,

Pandora’s box,

Wouldn’t seal.

Demons overwhelm,

 Panadamonium, fire,

Further woe,

And —

We,

Left behind,

Never comprehend,

Such despair.

But if,

You see,

Someone struggling,

Please —

Become,

A safety,

Net, let —

Them heal.

—–

Telling them

“Get it–

Together now.”

Cruelty.

Provide,

Them unlimited,

time needed,

Inner repairs.

—-

Bind wounds,

Let fractures,

Mend strongly,

Support.

Let,

No person,

Become that

Man, swinging.

—–

Let each,

Hand you,

Have hold,

Another’s.

So,

Those in,

Despair are,

Lifted up.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Septolet – “Phrases of Home”

img_1070-1

And now for our prompt (optional, as always)! Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that incorporates “the sound of home.” Think back to your childhood, and the figures of speech and particular ways of talking that the people around you used, and which you may not hear anymore. My grandfather and mother, in particular, used several phrases I’ve rarely heard any others say, and I also absorbed certain ways of talking living in Charleston, South Carolina that I don’t hear on a daily basis in Washington, DC. Coax your ear and your voice backwards, and write a poem that speaks the language of home, and not the language of adulthood, office, or work. Happy writing!

With the

Devil on

My back

It’s

Impossible

To keep

My hands

To Myself

—–

If everyone

Jumped off

A bridge

Would

You

Go downstairs

And bring

Me  (item).

—–

I have,

Certain expectations,

Of you,

And

Turn

Your music,

Down, you’ll,

Go deaf!

—-

Hold your,

Brother’s hand,

When you,

Both

Start

Crossing the,

Street; Don’t,

Talk back.

—-

As long,

As you,

Tried your,

Hardest

And

You did,

Your best,

It’s fine.

——

Here I,

Brought you,

A burger,

Don’t

Tell

Dad I,

Brought you,

Fast food.

—–

Go for,

A bike,

Ride you’ve ,

Been

Inside,

All day,

You need,

Fresh, Air.

Now gone away, as children became adults.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – Fan Letter – Septolets – ” Dear Jennifer Lawrence.”

img_1070-1

Yesterday, we wrote portraits of families. Today, let’s turn our vision outward, and write fan letters. I challenge you to write a poem in the form of a fan letter to a celebrity. Now, this could be a celebrity from long ago, and needn’t be an actor or singer (though it could be). You could write to George Washington or Dorothy Dandridge, Marie Curie or The Weeknd. Happy writing!

Poem: Septolet – “Growing on Me.”

Subtractive qualities,

Reasonable loneliness,

Wanderlust.

—–

Rivers flowing,

Echoing hollows,

Hiding.

Shimmering breeze,

Whispering melodies,

Comforting.

Whistful looks,

Exchanging symphonies,

Brilliantly.
