Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip

——

Climbing the tree, talking, sitting before we were silent,

Illusions of tomorrow’s casting flames of gold resilient.

Silent sitting dragging you here into my darkest night.

I could be wrong, maybe I lied, the fissure more widens,

What if we’re wrong, if we’re an endless song, without brilliance?

Silent, we’re sitting alone, no dress rehearsal for life.

Hornet’s toxin seething, luring us to the siren’s light.

Wrongly fleeing, ten thousand cars, roads; leaving, taking flight.

#NovemberNotes Day 12/Saturday Mix: Poem – Rondeau – “We Don’t Stand A Chance” #amwriting #poetry

November Notes Day 12 Prompt song is by Sam Smith and called “To Good At Goodbyes.” For this Prompt combo I will combine the song Prompt with Sarah from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix Prompt on homophones. For this week the homophones include bolder – more courageous and boulderlarge rock; and two of, flew – past tense of fly, flu – short for influenza, and flue – chimney pipe.

Too Good At Goodbyes” by Sam Smith

——

I’m never gonna let you near my heart,

I’ll let you subsist in-between the bars;

Where we’re both near, yet feeling the flu, starved.

Not letting you close, though you mean the most,

I’m brokenness, you’ll never get closer.

Opening up is like chocking on barbs.

I’m not someone bolder, willing to fall hard,

Your here, but I see clear, we’re the departed.

Not letting you close, though you mean the most,

Chained to a boulder we don’t stand a chance.

A simple sincere truth, I’m good at parting,

Every time I hurt you, you hurt me too; dark —

Eyes forgetting, when we weren’t sickly ghosts,

Not seeing, together we flew the most.

Not letting you close, my tears fall imparting,

Chained to a boulder we don’t stand a chance.

Tale Weaver: Poem – San San – “Sunshine Assured” #amwriting #poetry #taleweavers

Thanks to Michael of MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting this week’s Tale Weaver prompt which is based on the sunrise which is the “start of a new day, an indicator of the day ahead. [P]ink sunrise can mean a hot day coming, a new start in life, it represent hope and new possibilities.”

Oh light of hope at this hour dawning

Behind us leaving the dark night dreaming

Dawn swooshes in and the day has purpose.

Hope our savior never hides as a ‘con.’

The night never remains, new day leaning,

Providing the world, thrilling light concurs.

Let not night’s dark thoughts in your mind prefer,

Let hope lead your day, in the sunshine assured

She said she’d learned, it was okay to cry, though she hurt,

More than rain commingled on her window, love and pain

Two sides of a coin, commingled; both were needed.

That’s why she made a friend of pain, she’d learned, it’s worth.

Built world surrounding misery, love and pain,

Realized that hurricanes commingled her feelings.

She would always need both love and pain to succeed,

Hurricanes made flowers grow, she learned, don’t hide — feel.

Caresses soft, we both want, hallowed place.

World formed between limbs of ours, wrapped so snug,

I feel downy hairs; your skin is blazing.

Inferno in your eyes, burning me in place.

Hours we will spend; lips meshing; arms snug.

Wet kisses, biting teeth, leave marks on skin.

Such sinners are we in bliss, found blazing.

Creating such heat, sweat intermingles, on skin.

——–

Hands run down arms and legs, pull a part,

Search within such depths, eyes reveal,

Our own precious world as we stroke, and float.

Bliss is our home; euphoria plays part.

Kisses spread over every nook; all reveals.

This memory we keep locked in lust; pleasure,

Skin brushes, hair pulled, lips locked, we touch, float.

Breathing quickens, with larks; cry pleasure.

——–

Keeping pace with what lovers do make,

Place forbidden, for all but what lovers give.

Providing pleasure; sparks of light which scream,

An explosion of consequence share, make —

Each other never forget gift each give.

Lovers unite again to touch, caress, dream.

Giving pleasure, to make your partner scream.

Such is the lovers world, living dreams.

Today’s prompt has to do with secrets and I’m going to do an eight line poem called a san san which repeats, three times, each of three terms or images. ——–

I’ll write you my secrets if you write me —

Yours; we’ll scribble them on note paper, you’ll–

Read my deceitful sins and I’ll read yours.

When we’re done sharing secrets we’ll burn free —

Our twisted minds; smoke curling paper fuel,

Deceit decaying flames –snatching your truth.

That’s why I’ve paper unburned, secrets yours.

Deceit in me shares secrets; you’ve no proof.

——-

You thought I gave secrets, you thought from me–

You tore out a page, paper hiding fuel,

Cunning deceit, saw I in you, I tore —

Up my true secrets and gave you shallow dreams.

You’re not to be trusted on paper; you’re cruel,

Telling all deceitfully; no real proof.

So I lied to you and your paper rules.

Keeping my secrets safe; my deceit is truth.

NaPoWriMo: Poem – San San – “Measure of Time”

img_1070-1

And last but not least, our (optional) prompt! Today’s prompt comes to us from TJ Kearney, who invites us to try a eight-line poem called a san san, which means “three three” in Chinese (It’s also a term of art in the game Go). The san san has some things in common with the tritina, including repetition and rhyme. In particular, the san san repeats, three times, each of three terms or images. The seven lines rhyme in the pattern a-b-c-a-b-d-c-d.

For more information please see NaPoWriMo.

Years passing swiftly, games of play drifting.

The measuring of time, not considered passing.

We’re in the moment, giving our energy here.

Play drifting, time through the sands spent sifting.

Quietly measuring time, loved ones dying fast.

Memories assault us and we’re making new ones.

Missing those gone, but in the moment having no fear.

Passing each day, choosing wisely, we run.

—–

Sun always rises, something we depend on.

Bringer of hope, world constantly changing.

Each morning arise, handling each moment.

Each day, sun always rises, today gone.

Find bringers of hope, time we exchange.

Ultimate hope founded in our heavenly home.

Sleeping and morning arises, new day spent.

World finite, cared for above as we roam.
