#OctPoWriMo Day 3/Music Challenge: Poem – Lunes – “ High Hopes” #amwritingpoetry #MusicChallenge

For OctPoWriMo Day 3 the Prompt is based on insecurity. Some words prompts for this writing prompt are: doubt, trust, overcome, embrace, and secure.

Also, combining with MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Music Challenge and the song “High Hopes” by Panic at the Disco!

Insecurity, your stomach dropping low;

Breathing deep so —

You’ll pull it together quicker.

*****

But, you gotta have High —

Hopes, big dreams;

Or life would be suffering.

*****

Shooting for stars glinting off —

Shards of brokenness;

Not enough for a killing.

*****

Barely a dime, but saving —

To live full,

Without burning souls — ego diluted.

*****

So, I’ve High Hopes, vision;

Promise and faith,

To support; still I shake.

*****

Heart sputters, aches without trust,

But it’s destroyed;

How’d you leap a chasm?

****

You can rewrite your history,

Be logical, sensible;

But, there’s hopelessness without dreams.

*****

High Hopes, God’s love, they —

Provide security; though —

Inside I scream and quiver.

*****

Sometimes the wind breathes,

Breathes life into —

Desperate lungs, verdant life respiring.

*****

She rolls slow; I’m humming,

Childhood rhymes as,

She breathes sunsets through me.

*****

We inhale, exhale; singing tunes,

Sunlight cools; dusk’s —

Cotton-candy clouds float hope.

Soft, inhaled scent of babies;

But they’ll grow.

Teeth-bared, razors piercing flesh.

*****

In sleep, the sweet siblings —

Snuggle, tucked beside,

Paws crossed overtop each other’s.

*****

Perhaps, they’re hand holding? Innocence —

Deceives gashing claws;

Ripping, tearing, biting; fierce predators.

Reaching, holding to unimaginable paths,

Burning past bridges,

Dawning pearls, celebrating life’s melodies.

*****

I’ll conquer once intangible steps —

With precise movements;

Bending, gliding into graceful poses.

*****

Tempo and rhythm crescendoing bold;

I’m blessed as —

Impossible dreams form opportunities lived.

Another forlorn excuse; layers of —

Soot, ash chocking,

Unfiltered; crack sniffed, false bliss.

*****

Crown Royal drowned, smokey blaze;

Bottle’s downed, emptied;

Vanilla incense can’t mask decay.

*****

Beneath nicotine’s veil of tears,

She cries crystals,

Scared; you’re her nightmare monster.

A storm of sensation overcomes,

Syrupy colors transfix;

Summer shocks with night’s rages.

*****

Flinging primary and secondary colors;

Paint’s acrylic pleasure,

Artistic soul awakes, heats coolness.

*****

Force of heat fuses inspiration,

Sweat trails,

And rivulets of creativity fan.

Eyes bright with metal palms,

No clothing I’m —

Armoured in white-plastic overalls .

*****

Divergent from children of skin,

No life’s blood;

But, my tablet never falls.

*****

Curiosity, wonder; I click into,

Games, to play

Slitherers and ladders; winning all.

Sandals pace across the dock,

Mango sunset floods;

Sails enfolded, bodies weave below.

*****

Avoiding knife-words, brush past,

Conversations shouted, our —

Voices spitting, rocking the vessel.

*****

Now night’s atmospheric stars collide,

Dusk’s blush flushes.

Come morning, sails glide devoted.

We Owned the Night” – Lady Antebellum

Craving skin sticking; recalling hurts,

Owning that night,

Lips dribbling sensuous enthralling words.

*****

You were my electric vision,

Owning that night,

Your purest beauty, stunned alive.

*****

Twirling, wine-wrecked your dress,

Owning that night,

Never forgetting tangled-sheet memories.

All paths.
