NaPoWriMo Day 28/ Photo Challenge: “Blazed Flowers” #amwritingpoetry

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie for hosting Photo Challenge. For NaPoWriMo as like the last few, it’s my own poems.

Drama, flashy scarlet blazed flowers;

Smeared paint exposed,

But, their witherings coming soon.

*****

Imagination is everywhere, flourishing in —

Whatever time lives;

In the humid horizon’s pull.

*****

In secrets, great mischief before,

Moves past brilliance —

Glittering, sky drops ambient stars.

*****

And white-noise dulls senses;

Wasp-words, tales,

Tones, of misunderstanding– play.

*****

Wilting begins, scarlet blooms remember,

Not the hurting,

Just words unsaid; say it.

*****

Inane games, rolling eyes; chatter —

Time fades so,

Say what you mean — say.

*****

Let the petals of yesterday,

Blow listless away;

Today’s a new dawn lit.

*****

Forget the yesterday’s —

No one knows,

The truth of each other.

*****

Next Spring we all re-blossom,

Poets words, views,

Are never what you’d think.

*****

People aren’t poetry, symbols are —

Obvious or not;

Red of blazed flower’s laugh.

#NaPoWriMo Day 11: Poem – Lunes – “Miraculous” #amwritingpoetry

For NaPoWriMo Day 11 the prompt is:

“Today, taking a leaf from Elhillo’s work, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem of origin. Where are you from? Not just geographically, but emotionally, physically, spiritually? Maybe you are from Vikings and the sea and diet coke and angry gulls in parking lots. Maybe you are from gentle hills and angry mothers and dust disappearing down an unpaved road. And having come from there, where are you now?”

Two who were once,

Genes of gazillions,

Divergence, corruption, mutation, evolution, convergence.

*****

Rarity, similarity, survival, yet — weakness.

Fittest move on,

Yet, inherit flaws don’t diminish.

*****

Two once; too many unaccounted,

No memories left;

Our origins linger, incredulous, miraculous.

#NaPoWriMo Day 3: Lunes – “Seconds Slip” #amwritingpoetry

For NaPoWriMo Day 3, the prompt is:

“Today’s prompt is based in a poem by Larry Levis called “The Two Trees.” It is a poem that seems to meander, full of little digressions, odd bits of information, but fundamentally, it is a poem that takes time. . . I’d like to challenge you to. . . write something that involves a story or action that unfolds over an appreciable length of time.”

Levitating light, airy and ethereal.

Baby’s mobile spins,

As the sundial’s shadow wanes.

*****

Ticks — children sigh, clocks circling.

Can’t read minutes,

Deduce digital numeric language better.

*****

Somewhere neither young nor old,

Decimals on smartphones,

Grandfather chimes, seconds slip, lost.

Three Line Tales: “Tucked Near” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales (x2)

I’m down-trodden, weakling child;

Until head eases,

Lethargic fog clears; you’re near.

Days are dim, dead dreary,

Dickenasian smog dour.

Gloom plucking my heart’s curves.

***

Yet, within darkness rustles notes,

Silver breezes chime,

Your words are balmy bliss.

*****

As Elijah cowering, cave hiding,

Whisper wind Holy,

Your presence revered; I’m safe.

*****

Calm cooling waters, drench coal —

Stricken sadness; lips —

On my forehead so dear.

*****

Lungs filled with tar-blackness,

Eucalyptus-oxygen cures.

Pain collapses tucked near you.

Three Line Tales: Poem – Lunes – “Hollow Liberty” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales

Barbed wire tongue, crescents bleeding;

Crimsons stains wrung,

Scratches, scrapes, gouges; fight wounds.

*****

Scars criss-cross, linger; priceless

Liberty gnawing, piercing;

Glittering eyes, barbed-teeth maim.

*****

Cages, prisons, iron bars, steel barriers,

Keep-out; empty —

Victory; they’ve decided Lady Liberty’s hollow.

Streetlights, sunshine succulent Daisy’s swim,

Beneath backsplash hues,

Blends rainbow-blues; happiness mellow.

*****

Smiley-face smirks, sunflower haze,

Artificial artifice; installation,

Pales before dawn’s authentic azure.

*****

Happiness hides, sunshine succumbs —

Night she divides;

Darkness delights, oozes untamed reality .

Three Line Tales: Poem – Lunes – “Carnival Memories” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales

Carnival night’s flash ethereal; dreams —

Hope’s gossamer moments;

Merry-go-rounds, buttery popcorn.

*****

Glory-days, infused cotton-candy,

Familiar sweetness; children’s —

Giggles echo beyond Winter’s cage.

****

Mini-donuts melt mouth-watering,

White lights; Cherub’s —

Gallop, neighing horses, summertime’s myth.

#OctPoWriMo Day 30/Saturday Mix: Poem – Lunes – “The Final Dance” #amwritingpoetry #SaturdayMix

For OctPoWriMo Day 30 the Prompt is dancing on the moon. I’m combining with Sarah from MindLoveMisery”s Menagerie Same But Different, Saturday Mix prompt. For this week we need to find synonyms for the following words: water, fabric, polish, switch, and floor.

Elegant silk, battles I’ve wrought,

Pink leather rock,

I’ve bled magic into dust .

*****

Care not you for plies?

Broken-in hide,

Feet deformed, calloused, and refined.

*****

Torture wrought by instructors, tutors —

Lips bit; droplets,

Blood sticking; pealing away slippers.

*****

On stage I’m Fairy Queen,

Benign White Swan;

Hidden behind, black-swans swipe.

*****

Struggle, no food, treats, temptation;

A bite will,

Destroy me — never lose face.

*****

I’ve chosen to suffer, embracing —

Tomorrow’s hip replacements;

Knobby knees mettle, posture destroyed.

*****

Living is dancing, so I twirl,

Toes dying as —

My heart lifts; I fly.

*****

Crowds roar, shout bravo aloud,

We curtsy, bow,

As inside we die, depressed.

*****

Anorexic Divas, or devils spitting;

Plastic smiles shift,

Undermining each other’s talents — dreams.

****

Now, I’m the Sugarplum Fairy;

Legs lift to hips, stretch —

Split, bend with finesse blurred.

*****

Tomorrow I’m gone; the ballet,

A hunger games;

I nibble chocolate, humbled, resigned.

*****

Though I was a tigress inside,

Mangling slippers; I’m —

Listless absorbing the starry night.

*****

I’m elegant, nimble as Luna’s —

Glow spotlights my,

Final dance, done beneath moonlight.

OctPoWriMo Day 20/Saturday Mix: Poem – Lunes – “Preserve Hope” #amwritingpoetry #SaturdayMix

For OctPoWriMo Day 20 the prompt is time stands still. Also combining with Sarah from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix double-take Prompt. The word homophone sets this week are: groan – reaction to hearing a pun, and groan – has gotten larger, and guessed – past tense of guess, along with, guest – a visitor.

Credit: OctPoWriMo Day 20

“Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. But I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment because they’ll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we lived.” ~Captain Picard, Star Trek: Generations

Popcorn groans, flowering fluff unbeknownst,

Crackle, crunch; dust —

Evenings remembered butter-soft delight.

*****

Guessing if tonight, presents unpackaged;

Cheeseball, vegetable rolls,

Summer sausage, spinach dip, crackers.

*****

Time you don’t amble here,

You speed-walk,

Then, in terror groan — pause.

*****

Predator or prey, Grimm Reaper,

Perhaps you’re one?

Companion or foe, frequent guest.

*****

Our little moments add together,

Time pace beside;

Where’s the meaning? Preserve Hope.

#OctPoWriMo Day 16/Three Line Tales: Poem — “Might Time’s Ten” #amwritingpoetry #3LineTales

For OctPoWriMo Day 16 the Prompt is Catch Me When I Fall. Also, thanks to Sonya of Only 100 Words for hosting #3LineTales.

Today’s prompt is Catch Me When I Fall. Finding that person who will support you at every turn is such an important part of any relationship. Also significant is what happens after the fall. How would you describe the balance between giving support and receiving it?

Lakeland country, artistic installation — imposition,

Swimming past carvings,

Totem poles, spirits guiding home.

*****

Murky fog, crippling cat feet,

Lurking towards us;

We’re invincible, we hold on.

*****

We don’t crash and implode,

We douse flames;

Together we’ve might times ten.
