#OctPoWriMo – Day 30/31 – Senryu – “Eternity for Real” #amwriting #poetry #religion #christianity #faith

Day 31 Prompt: Eternal

“When I think of eternal, I think there isn’t much that is eternal, at least not on this earth. When I wrote this prompt, I believe I was thinking how even though OctPoWriMo is coming to an end, our words are forever – what we wrote during this month and beyond. What does eternal mean to you?”
——

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” –John 5:24

——–

Time on earth is done,
When my body is only,
An Empty vessel.

——–

Then shall eternity —

Begin; time will not matter.

For all those gone on.

——

Time on earth, linear,

Comprehend forever,

It’s hard imagining.

——-

What forever is,

What it looks like and feels like,

Who the maker is?

—–

Death is frightening,

Even in sleep, will it hurt?

Where does our soul go?

——-

This is why I think,

Believing in God is wise,

We can worry less.

——-

Perhaps worry not —

At all; because we know what —

The otherside will bring.

——-

Many say we’re wrong,

There’s no heaven, there’s no hell.

I learned fear of God.

—–

Not that we should be —

Afraid of benevolent —

King; but his word speaks.

—–

Gives us hope for life,

Eternal in Jesus dying for —

Everything done wrong.

——

We’re not perfect and —

We never will be, we can’t

Keep the Ten Commandments.

——

Fulfilling God’s law,

Impossible to achieve,

So he sent Jesus.

——

He hung on a cross,

Cruxifician painful, bled.

He died went to Hell.

——

Defeated devil,

Defeated death and the grave,

So with him remain.

——

When our death comes there —

Is no sting, because those who —

Have faith, believe — live.

—–

That is eternity,

Heaven with God, better than —

Our wildest dreams.

——

Forgiveness of sin,

Becoming perfect beings,

Paradise for real.

Poem: Haikus – ” Two Can Keep A Secret, If One of Us Is Dead.”

Just playing around in this poetry piece. I started from the beginning, watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix. What first struck me on the second episode, was the theme song by The Pierces. It had such beautiful poetry and was catchy, so I had to play with it in my writing.

“Secrets” – The Pierces (Music Video)

“Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you’ll save
Better lock it in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you won’t tell what I said
‘Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

The Pierces – “Secrets”

Beneath covert layers,

Hidden, you devise, secrets.

Ones you shouldn’t tell.

If your secrets are deadly,

Your playing games with our lives,

Let your sweet lies lay.

The business of obscurity,

Mask those secrets, don’t tell me,

Hidden truths veiled well.

“Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you’ll save
Better lock it in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you won’t tell what I said
‘Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

Hands over my ears, disappear,

Your corrupt ideals, hurt us all.

Close your mouth, don’t talk.

Duck-tape your lips closed tight,

Reveal nothing, sinister girl,

Secrets for the grave.

Don’t enlighten with dishonesty,

Don’t share what you said you’d keep,

Telling truths ends dead.

“Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you’ll save
Better lock it in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you won’t tell what I said
‘Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

Your lips move, I hear nothing,

I’m bent on staying out this time,

Your secrets hurt, kill.

A burden you say you must,

Share with me, release venom,

Keep your poison locked.

I’ve closed my door; shut you out,

I have my own secrets but,

Those I never tell.

“Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you’ll save
Better lock it in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you won’t tell what I said
‘Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

Poem: Reversed Haiku- ” Always Beautiful”

Thanks to The Daily Post for the word prompt shelf.

Do women have a shelf life?

A time of years when they,

Aren’t beautiful anymore?

—-

Is there a time when beauty,

Seeps out through their bones;

Time a wretched thief stealing.

—-

Is beauty so vapid that,

It means only your looks,

Or a deeper quality?

—–

Do we place ourselves on,

That empty lost shelf,

Or do certain men place us?

——

Is beauty vital past youth,

Being pretty is —

Feeling fabulous inside.

—–

Then, peering in a mirror,

Pleased with what’s seen;

But wrinkles happen quickly —

—–

Beauty evaporates.

Some never had it,

Only their own youthfulness.

—–

Youth a concept of the heart,

Not a looking glass;

Youthful beauty is rare.

——

What is your shelf-life woman,

I think you decide,

Old, or timeless beautiful?

Poem: “Not Meant To Be.”

How do I know that you and

I want what’s best for,

Each other and we aren’t lying,

About the truth to one another.

You want my body and,

You’re not afraid to tell.

From the beginning that is,

Mostly, what you want.

But you wanted to talk too.

You want to get to know each,

Other and be more than,

Only friends who are together.

Skin against skin that’s what you,

Desire but I can’t,

Give to you without knowing that,

I’m not just a Friday night.

I need to trust you,

But I’m kind of feeling that,

Things aren’t really working for,

A vital reason.

Maybe we are passing ships.

In the cold dark night maybe,

We are just not meant,

To be together with each other.

Writing 101 – Beloved – ” Beloved”¬†

You know the name, Amanda?

It means Beloved.

A coincidence, I think.

Maybe my parents named me,

Because they also loved.

I don’t want to think about it.

But the issue that scares me about–

My Mom and Dad is,

They don’t talk often to each other.

I read an old journal, my Moms,

She called my Dad Beloved.

Now my Dad does what he wants.

And my Mom does her thing too.

He is always hard to buy–

Any kind of present for, anything.

And I don’t understand a marriage

That appears so seperate,

But has lasted thirty years and

Then some, I watch and–

I see little things, my Dad caring for

My Mom when she’s ill.

But he went downstairs and napped.

They stake out places in the house

Some are her places and

Many places are left to him and some —

Are the little spaces I take up.

It’s weird being thirty at home and thinking.

You have connections to these people;

But you don’t see them.

They are not a them, they are–

Two seperate beings who came

Together to be,

A whole, two halves of one being,

I wonder at this because I wonder for me,

Can I live Beloved .

A whole who is part of another.

Or will I be like my parents

Who somehow work and,

Remain to each other Beloved.

Despite their difficulties,

They are still together.

But that happy feeling love hides,

I live in a dream world I see;

There are few good guys.

I loved once it broke and shattered.

Now I lay in my bed at night.

Thinking of someone new.

A distant man who’ll call me,

His own in our life, I’ll be,

His Beloved girl.

Who named me Beloved?

I don’t see why you called me her.

When I could be any —

One without this painful name.
