——

Daisy your coat is rough, rusted;

I’d restore your coat true, trust me.

It used to shine an apple-red.
You’re engine won’t start; words unsaid they’re frustrating.

——

Daisy May you had your days like,

The woman I named you for, my wife.

But she is gone now, you’ve decayed

Both of you leave me so dismayed; inside I’ve strife

——-

Daisy, I wonder should I send you —

To the scrap yard, or sell you?

Should I restore you to glory?

So those I meet know your story and my wife’s too?

——-

Nostalgia overwhelms, memories —

Cloud my mind thinking too plenty —

Of back in the day of youth’s glow

When I had both Daisies, I drove through life, with them.

Collage Prompt: Poem – Florette – “Such Guests” #amwriting #poetry #writing

Thank you to MindLoveMosery’s Menagerie for hosting this collage prompt:

MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie

———

My guest house, resides within

But I don’t feel right allowing–

Just anyone inside my own home

Guests like to roam, to destroy where they now reside.

—-

My favourite friend is joy visiting,

She shines brightly and never winces.

Anger comes in with wretched face

I tell him grace, will calm his raging –fire he spits

—–

Sorrow sacks the house, with no words,

Brings anger and hurt with her to purge.

But I serve them tea; she cries with tears,

Cries out all fears, sets the house right with kindness emerge.

—–

All these emotions come and go,

Cathartic it feels, clearing my woes.

Honouring them all, realize

These woes humanize me, make space within my soul.

—–

Malice and shame, they wound the most,

Ridicule my manners as host.

Hate my guest house, demand refund.

But they’re both numb; I learn from such awful ghosts.

—–

My inner guest house is free for —

New glories to stride in and pour,

Grace and mercy within my life

Now relieved strife fled, created much in me —more

——-

I’ll sing you music each long night.

Do you hear my voice take flight?

My alto voice rings loud in my ears.

Wish to be there, so you see dear, my notes just right.

——–

You’ll treasure my words, piercing thought.

Can I reach through your veil, you’re aloft.

Stuck inside, where I cannot reach.

No silence but song, I beseech; sign of love sought.

———-

Dusk, lingering in your splendor,

Hope you’ll hear my words crescendo

Problems arise when you see how I sing,

For I am deaf, my songs hand signs ring, my concerto.

——-

Please my love, notice me noiseless,

Signs speak my ardor voiceless.

You gaze through me, my pretty face

Your chosen love’s voice has no grace; my signs joyful.

——

The Florette, created by Jan Turner, consists of two or more 4-line stanzas.

Rhyme scheme: a,a,b,a
Meter: 8,8,8,12

Fourth line requirement of internal (b) rhyme scheme, on syllable 8.

Like the outgrowing of a small flower, the forth line of each stanza is longer, and enwraps the previous lines. Line #4 requires an internal rhyme scheme that rhymes the eighth syllable with the end of line #3, and continues to add on four more syllables than the other lines so that the fourth line ends rhyming with lines #1 and #2.

Please see Shadow Poetry for more information.
